Marek grew up in a small town of Kosice, Czechloslovakia or now Slovakia. Starting out playing soccer and hockey at the age of five. Marek was a star soccer player as he grew up but his true love was in hockey. Playing hockey was like a family tradition as soccer was too. His father played hockey for the Czech Republic and his mother for the Women's Nations Soccer Club. Living under his parents history Marek loved to get up at 6:00AM and go to the rink and be the only kid on the ice shooting pucks and making dekes. His favorite time of the day.


Sniping is Marek Favourite Play

As he got older he was becoming the best player in Czechloslovakia. When Marek was 15 his parents took him to Canada. Living in Red Deer, Alberta. He played for Red Deer Jr. Rebels. Marek played hockey but he worked even harder on the farm his father owned. After his first season in Red Deer he became a town hero taking the Jr.Rebels to West Canada Nationals.


Speed Speed All The Way

Marek Jurco was a top prospect in the WHL but he decided he didn't want to go this way. He returned to Slovakia when he was 18 and played 2 season at Kosice HC U20. Leading the league in points and goals after the first season. He was then offered to play in the KHL for Moscow Dynamo. He was going to accept the offer but a bad knee injury made him unable to play last season. The offer was after withdrawn from the team. Now Marek is returning to Canada to join the NWJHL.
