All Things Bjornsson - Updates, Draft, Quotes and Everything you should know! Kind of not really. At the beginning of the S25 SMJHL season Kelowna Knights goaltender was struggling to find his way. The season began with a sparking 4-0 start which then fizzled quickly into a like 10 game slide. After the slide ended and the offense was producing it was the goaltending letting the team down. Bjornsson was leaking out goals and Kelowna were losing a lot more games than they thought they were going to at the beginning. The Knights rookie goaltenders could was not up to the standards of the forwards and defenseman on the team leaving goaltending which is one of them most important positions as the Knights weakness. The Knights team is pretty solid minus having a rookie goalie but in reality a rookie will continue to get better throughout the season so it was not a big worry for the Knights as everyone makes the play-offs still. At the beginning Christoffer Bjornsson was visibly frustrated with the way he was playing and at the results. At one point the Knights were below .500 and were struggling to score goals. Then they were scoring goals but not keeping them out. Other times Bjornsson was just playing horribly and they would lose. Some said if the Knights had an experienced goalie they would have probably been the favorite to win the league no doubt about it. But the Knights had to get a goalie in the draft because theres ended up staying up in Texas this season, so they dealt with what they were given. “Not playing at a high level is frustrating and not winning is frustrating. Although teammates were trying to tell me it’s not my fault, based on statistics it is basically my fault. Mid .700 save percentage games on the stats sheet are not good enough and never will be. If I play that way we’re obviously going to lose and that is how it was going in that stretch. I could not stop a beach ball it seems. The offense was scoring goals like 5 goals a game but I was letting in like 6 goals which is pretty terrible. I basically lost all my confidence and it went all down-hill from there. The only bright side is that I was not the worst. The worst was Brett Broadway which is fine be me. He can be the worst, it fits him well.” The rookie goaltender is going to finish the season as the second worst goaltender in the league, although he is only one of two rookies which you would expect them to be near the bottom. Halifax goaltender Brett Broadway is the worst. Although Bjornsson had the worst save percentage in the league, Brett Suckway had a higher goals against average. The SMJHL is filled with veteran goaltenders who are on the cusp of become SHL goaltenders and goalies who have played in the junior leagues for a season or two. Bjornsson finished with a great record of 26-16-1 although his other stats are not as pretty. Broadway and Bjornsson was set at a disadvantage compared to the rest and so were their teams. The Knights were a high flying and scoring team who potted like 5 goals a game to help their rookie in between the pipes which shows In Christoffer’s stats. His .857 save percentage and 3.43 goals against average tells a different story than his record. It shows the rookie goaltender struggled to keep pucks out of the net The season is now starting to wind down as the playoffs loom. The Kelowna Knights had a pretty decent season considering the circumstances. The Knights season was a real rollercoaster ride for the players and fans as the constantly were having ups and downs throughout. Before the last game of the season the Knights have a 26-20-3 record. The Knights are set to finish second in the West after recently surging past the Prince George Firebirds to overtake them for second and setting up a play-off match up that is going to occur. At the trade deadline the Knights management made some bold moves to set themselves up for a playoff run. The Knights are putting a lot of faith into their rookie goaltender which could possibly work out but could also go terribly wrong. As for the draft, there has not been much hype for this year’s class but Bjornsson look’s to be a top prospect. Although goaltending is not a high priority for SHL teams these days as most have an established starter already but some might need a project. They likely won’t take one in the first round though. Goalie is so a high risk position to draft as you never know what you are going to get so some teams might shy away from taking a goalie high in the draft. So Bjornsson will likely have to wait a bit to be picked at this rate. With the draft comes an exciting time for prospects which Bjornsson is looking forward too. He has been clear he has no real preference where he goes and he will not force his way out by not signing or refusing to play. He does have one condition on his draft though. “I am so excited for the draft. I love draft time when teams are contacting you and talking to you. It’s a lot of fun for me and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully a lot of teams will be interested in me but I’m not really expecting that. I can’t wait to see where I end up and hopefully stay for a long time! The only thing I will kind demand is that I want to be back in the SMJHL next season. I do not want to waste a season being a back-up on a SHL team. I want to go back to Kelowna and gets starts and continue to improve. This season in Kelowna I had a lot of downs and I want to come back even better to prove myself. I want to be a top SMJHL goalie before I move up to SHL. I think I want to spend at least another season in Kelowna maybe even two before going up to the SHL. I do not want to be stuck behind a goalie doing nothing for a whole season. If I am a back-up I want to have accomplished things in the SMJHL. I want to be satisfied with my SMJHL performance before I go up to SHL. That’s all I really want. Also no Texas please. Although they won’t want me anyways because they have a goalie, so that’s good for me.” Although the draft is a long ways away some SHL teams will begin their scouting process as they are not in the playoffs. Later In the week Bjornsson will be announcing his “Draft Rankings” as a little bit of fun for him to talk about what he likes about the prospective teams he could be on. For now though Bjornsson will be focusing on the SMJHL play-offs where his team the Kelowna Knights battle it out with the Prince George Firebirds in the SMJHL West Division quarter final match-up. It should be a good one as these two teams have seen a lot of each other as of late at the end of the season. </div> Code: 1224 Words Made by Rindiee, rum_ham & Carpy Jacob Mueller S5-S Julien Dupont S6-S13 S9 Challenge Cup - Calgary Dragons IIHF Gold - Germany Rufus Reinhart S13-S24 S14 Challenge Cup - Texas Renegades Christoffer Björnsson - S25-S35 S25 Four Stars Cup S26 Tom Corcoran Trophy - SMJHL Top Goalie Sami Owens - S36-S52 S38 IIHF Bronze - Canada S39 IIHF Gold - Canada S42 IIHF Silver - Canada S51 Challenge Cup Champion - HAM Liam Slate - S54-Present S53 WJC Bronze - British Isles S54 WJC Silver - British Isles S55 Four Star Cup Champion - Newfoundland Berserkers S57 IIHF Silver - Great Britain S58 IIHF Silver - Great Britain S60 IIHF Silver - Great Britain S61 IIIHF Gold - Great Britain S67 Challenge Cup Champion - Seattle Argonauts S68 Challenge Cup Champion - Seattle Argonauts Triple Gold Club Sad Ketchup -Present S76 Ryan Jesster Trophy Winner
