After having recently been named the Co General Manager of the Hamilton Steelhawks, Ross Steps to the podium to face the media for the first time as an SHL GM.

"First off, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to be here tonight. Ever since joining the league it has been my dream to eventually make it to a SHL management position and that dream has finally come true. On January 26th, 2017 I was offered the position of Co GM in Hamilton and I ultimately accepted the offer.

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone involved in the Vancouver Whalers franchise. You guys were absolutely great throughout my time there as both a player and a General Manager. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. It's unfortunate that we couldn't bring home a cup but we had a great time and I wouldn't of had it any other way.

I'd also like to thank ThatDamnMcJesus for trusting me enough to ask me to be his CO. We have an amazing group of players here in Hamilton and Mcjesus has done a tremendous job getting the team to where it is today. It's going to be an exciting experience to grow with this team as we go from a group of rookies to legitimate challenge cup contenders.

I'd like to open this up to some questions so feel free to leave some bellow!

Love em. I'm not sworn to them however and I like pretty much all animals. Had 3 dogs, 2 cats and a few birds growing up so they've always been around. I don't have a dog right now unfortunately but I do have 2 cats. I'm not a huge fan of smaller dogs and my apartment just isn't big enough for a large dog. Maybe one day..

Quote:pls describe your perfect breakfast?
Easy. Nothing beats a good ol' fashioned sunday morning brunch. Bacon and eggs are an absolute must. I'm not a huge fan of pancakes or crepes so i usually do toast with PB&J and banana slices on top. Throw in some fresh fruit and some OJ and you got the perfect breakfast.

Quote:Thoughts on your new draft picks?
I'd like top think we did fairly well considering the picks we had. We didn't have any glaring needs to address so we didn't feel that holding on to the 22nd was necessary. We managed to move down to 28 while adding a few picks in later drafts and still managed to get a very good player in Smirnov Light jr. At 37 we picked up Marcis Kalvis from Vancouver. He may be a little behind on the tpe scale but he joined at the very end of last season and has worked hard to gain as much as he could. If he keeps it up he could definitely be a steal for us. at 40 we took Taemin Gede who we believe can crack the roster in a few seasons if he keeps it up. He's been around the discord a bit too which is nice. Then we drafted some no name scrub at 41. Zoidberg, taken at 42 unfortunately doesnt seem to be showing any signs of life so the hopes arent that high for him. Overall I am happy with how it went considering we didn't pick until essentially the third round.

Quote:How does it feel to work with Hallsy
Every GM I've worked with so far has been very different and hallsy is no different (pun intended). So far things have been alright. We've been able to split tasks fairly evenly so far to make sure neither of us have to demanding of a workload. We see fairly eye to eye on the situation the team is in and which direction we are going with it so I don't anticipate us having any problems working together as the seasons go on. I will say however I am used to having a little more communication with the GM I am working with and that's something I think we should address moving forward.

Quote:Make one bold prediction about the S33 Steelhawks
The Hamilton Steelhawks will make the playoffs in season 33. You wanted bold right? Tongue Although that is a bold prediction, I dont think it's that unrealistic. A few teams in the east aren't quite as strong on paper as they have been in the past and Hamilton is definitely on the up-and-up. By the end of the season our entire core with the exception of our 3 new callups will be in the 750-900 TPE range. While that doesn't stack up to some of the more elite teams in the league, it still provides us with excellent depth to work with in the lineups. Provided our players keep developing and we find some chemistry with our forward lines, we may just be able to squeeze into the playoffs. Unlikely, but not impossible.

Quote:Will we win the season series against the Muffalo Softpede, the fucking worst team in the conference?
Yup. I think we can definitely have a better go at it than buffalo but I wouldn't be so quick to call them the worst team in the conference...Minnesota still exists and I would'nt be surprised to see them free fall to the bottom of the standings.

Quote:Is there such thing as too many enforcers?
hell nah. If i put my team of 20 enforcers against your team of 20 Crosbys, all the Crosbys would be injured by the halfway mark of the first period.

Quote:Is this Jon Ross' breakout season?
While last year wasnt terrible, it was a little underwhelming. I am hoping to be able to improve on my point totals but I'm not sure that that will happen. We are a very balanced team and I think that we are going to see some even scoring numbers across the board. I also haven't worked too much on the offensive side of my game this offseason. I'm hoping to round out my defensive game to be able to better handle playing against team's top lines and D pairings. From there, the points will come.

Quote:How do you hope to balance out the reckless abandon of our Lord and Savior McJesus Christ as far as strategy?
One thing that I've already done a bit of is simply ask questions to make me and him look at things in different lights. I like to evaluate each scenario from different angles to know how it will affect the people involved. I'm also a little more hesitant on the trade front. I'm not as quick to pull the trigger on something and don't mind waiting for better value.

Quote:What are you most excited about with his Steelhawks team?
We have a very young, very dedicated and very active core. We have a good group of people that are all lining up to be future stars in the SHL and they should all be around for quite some time to come. The potential this team has is second to none in the shl and it's going to be really exciting to see the team develop moving forward.

Quote: who are your ideal linemates?
One person I worked really well with in juniors was Llewellyn. unfortunately he has since gone inactive but he was always able to open up room for more skilled players. pair me and him with an elite sniper and you have a match made in sim heaven. alternatively, a strong skater could also work well with me seeing as that is my biggest weakness.

Quote:any blockbuster deals under the works?
Well we are currently looking at some options to improve our blueline. that scrub Ben Dover has been shitting the bed and we would like to replace him asap. Our biggest problem right now is finding someone who will offer more than a 7th round pick for him...

Quote: How are the rookies of Sabresfans,Kylrad and Velvera gunna perform in S33?
Honestly, I think they will have good albeit unspectacular seasons. It's always hard for rookies coming up and these guys are all coming up a little earlier than usual. That said, they will be seeing quite a bit more ice time than some rookies which can bode well for them. If they keep up their TPE gain, then I think they will all be pleased with the way the season goes for them.

Quote:Who is your favourite member on Hamilton?
That's a tough one. There's a lot of great guys here and it's pretty hard to choose just one. with absolutely no disrespect meant to anyone else, I'd probably say Rabidsponge21 . We've shared an LR for quite some time and have even started gaming and chatting on the regular. Hopefully we can get some more steelhawks to join us in the future!

Quote: How awful is it to work with Hallsy?
Actually it's not bad at all. He's quite a bit different 1on1 than he is on the site.

Quote:Russakoff over Diehl.. why?
moot point really. com enext season it wont matter.

Quote:Harris gonna take over Waters' spot?
faack they are both pretty much the same level of inactive so maybe...

My bad...makes sense now but with our history it seemed genuine. I was more upset about where you said it than what you'd said.
