and Captaincy announcement!

Welcome to the Seattle Riot S34 prevue and captain announcement! The Riot head into S34 with some big expectations, and some revenge filled minds. In S33 the Riot had they’re best start to the season in a long time, and were looking to have the best season in franchise history, winning their first Presidents trophy. Until trade deadline came around, where their team went on a unexplained slump. The already mediocre offense got bad, and the defence that was winning them games fell appart.
The result? They nearly missed the playoffs, but managed to pull together enough points to hold off the Jets. They turned their attention to the Dragons, the defending champs, and they knew the task that was at hand. In S32 they were heart broken by the loss in the first round to the Blizzard, losing in 6 games, having lost all 4 of their games by 1 goal, and all but the final game in overtime. However, this time they were not as performing and they did not go out swinging, being swept miserably by the Dragons, who went on to the finals yet again, losing out to New England. So this season the Riot have something to prove, and their off-season transaction to acquire Mathias Holberg was a surprising one, adding to an already stellar defence, and not assessing offensive needs, especially with Jed Lloren not on contract yet. We sat with head GM Michael Abdalla to ask him a few questions about this move; ![]() Michael Abdalla: We are, we just haven’t had much luck securing a good enough player to bring in. We lost out on the big Z trade, and we haven’t really found any other solid offensive players to bring in. We are hoping Lloren will stay with us for one more year, but we have no news on that yet. ![]() Michael Abdalla: Well we have David Benson, this guy can do it all and we’ve agreed that this season he will be returning to the top 6 forward group. So with him moving back up top, our offense will be similar to last season if Lloren leaves, and well if he stays, we’ve gotten stronger up top which is the goal, and replaced an offensive minded Benson with Mattias Holmberg, so we’ve gotten better on the blue line as well. Not to mention we’ve added a Challenge Cup champion to help lead us in the playoffs. ![]() Michael Abdalla: I feel if Lloren re-signs we’ve definitely improved just by adding a top quality defender, allowing us to move Benson back to our top 6. However, even if Lloren leaves, our regressed players are mainly role playersor are players who are working to get back to where they were quickly. Meanwhile, we’ve got some great upgrades in Trevor Wilson’s game, Cory Knouse will be a nice upgrade coming up from the SMJHL over Zaitsev, Orlov and Cartier have grown a lot since last season and Sirmais is getting closer and closer to that 1st line centre role. Finally McFadden is quickly becoming one of the top goaltenders in the league as well. So now let’s take an in depth look at what the roster should be for the Seattle Riot. As of right now, Lloren is an FA so the tentative lines for the upcoming season look to be; Code: Dean Colt - David Benson - Patrick Brumm We can immediately see that there’s a mix of old guys and young guys in the Riot offense, really only Brumm and Benson are in their prime, Colt slowly getting older while Sirmais and Wilson are starting to enter it. The bright spots start once you get past the offense, the defence looks very solid, Burton leading the way as the veteran presence, while Orlov Cartier and Holberg are all firmly in their prime looking to do damage, and veterans Mikko Koskinen and Jhonas Skarsgard can still do damage on the 3rd pairing. Finally there’s McFadden in goal, firmly in his prime and looking to take the next step and really start showing what he’s got. Let’s take a look at the players in a deeper view Centers: (S20) Dean Colt - 1147 TPE Mac CK= Checking: 83 FG = Fighting: 26 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 88 ST = Strength: 90 EN = Endurance: 85 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 86 FO = Face Offs: 99 PA = Passing: 75 SC = Scoring: 70 *cannot go above 85* DF = Defense: 75 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Dean Colt got hit with a hard 201 TPE regression this off-season, and will have to work hard to gain back some of that. He’s the oldest centre for the Riot by a long shot, but he’s also the oldest forward. All this seems pretty negative, but Colt is still one hell of a player, he’s physical, strong, can handle the puck and he’s still got his legs. His best attribute is definetly his face-off abilities, he’s one of the best the SHL has ever seen at the draw. He's not your typical stats guy, doesn’t have the greatest shot or passing abilities but he can deliver when needed, and he helps in his own zone as well. The entire Riot offense as a whole had a decrease in statistical output, Colt was one of those who decreased the most. He was 3rd in scoring in S32, but dropped to 7th this past season. He still managed his 9 goals both years, but his 18 assists were disappointing compared to his 26 last season. He increased his hit totals by 2, getting over the 200 mark yet again and won 55% of his draws, which was actually a 4% drop off from S32’s unbelievable 59.23%. (S30) Justs Sirmais - 721 TPE CaptainCrazy CK = Checking: 60 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 70 (1/4) SK = Skating: 81 ST = Strength: 78 EN = Endurance: 81 PH = Puck Handling: 78 FO = Face Offs: 80 PA = Passing: 77 SC = Scoring: 85 DF = Defense: 77 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Justs Sirmais is the Riot’s brightest young centre, and the future top line centreman of the franchise. Sirmais is developing into a pretty solid all around centreman, with a very accurate shot. He wins draws, plays well in his own end, is strong fast and can handle the puck. His passing ability is also impressive and he can even throw the body from time to time. His shot and his speed are definitely his strongest attributes, while his physical game is the weakest part of his game. This season was Sirmais’ first season with the Riot, and it was a challenging one for him. He came from a team where he was in most of the spot light, counted on to produce the offense in Hamilton, and scored 35 points. He has arrived on a team that is more competitive and is pushing to make a run for the cup, so he is in a more limited role and flying under Dean Colt’s wing. He managed only 17 points, which must have him disappointed, however, the Riot management are confident in his abilities and are looking forward to seeing his production increase dramatically this season. (S28) Gunnar Rask - 772 TPE ADV CK = Checking: 44 1/2 FG = Fighting: 34 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 90 ST = Strength: 70 3/4 EN = Endurance: 88 2/8 DU = Durability: 40 PH = Puck Handling: 71 2/4 FO = Face Offs: 80 3/8 PA = Passing: 90 SC = Scoring: 70 3/4 DF = Defense: 75 PS = Penalty Shot: 49 Gunnar Rask was drafted with high expectations, and was traded to Seattle with those same expectations. Rask was brought in to be the next big centre man by GM Christoph Klose, to replace Sean Leonidas, however, he has been a bit of a let down. Rask’s work ethic was greatly questioned after he got settled in to Seattle, and since then he has stopped showing signs of becoming the super star the Riot hoped he would. He spent some time as the team’s 2nd line centre man, until this season where Sirmais was brought in as a younger option and a more promising option for the future. This year, Sirmais and Rask are looking around the same level, Sirmais definitely looking to surpass him during the season. Rask is definitely less versatile, and much more one sided. He's a great passer, the best at the centre position actually, and he’s also the fastest skater. He’s good on the draw and good in his own end as well, however, his scoring leaves much to be desired and his puck handling is mediocre at best. His biggest flaw, is in the physical game, he’s not very strong and rarely throws a hit. Wingers: (S24) Patrick Brumm - 1283 TPE probablydrunk CK = Checking: 40 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 88 ST = Strength: 90 EN = Endurance: 93 DU = Durability: 40 PH = Puck Handling: 95 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 87 SC = Scoring: 99 DF = Defense: 90 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 The team’s top forward, leader on and off the ice, Patrick Brumm. Burma made the switch from defence to offence and has never looked back. He has had 2 seasons in a row with the team lead in goals and assists. Last season he had a year to remember, with 29 goals and 55 points which had him good enough for 3rd in the league in goals and 6th in the league in points. This season he took a step back, along with the overall team’s offensive output, but still his 19 goals and 43 points were still the best on the team. Burmm’s physical game is nearly invisible, barely registering any hits, however, his two way game is strong, and his 17 blocked shots show that off beautifully. Brumm’s defensive game is one of his top attributes, along with his strength, his abilities to play big minutes, his skating and his passing. His real skill lies though, with the puck on his stick. He can handle it like he was born with a puck on his stick and has arguably the best shot in the entire SHL. Brumm’s production for the Riot will need to be a top level like it was in S32, they lean on him heavily to score goals, although the secondary scoring seems to be getting better this up coming season, the coaching staff will still hope he can get back to league leading numbers. (S23) David Benson - 1199 TPE GoodLeftUndone CK = Checking: 40 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 90 ST = Strength: 90 EN = Endurance: 90 DU = Durability: 40 (do not add TPE here, injuries are turned off) PH = Puck Handling: 97 (7/12) FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 99 SC = Scoring: 85 DF = Defense: 80 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 David Benson has been a part of the Seattle Riot as long as anyone on the team, he’s a true warrior for the Seattle franchise, and many hope to see him remain a part of this team for a long time, and one day retire here and see his jersey go up to the rafters. Benson was moved to defence for 2 seasons now, and performed very well. However, this year it looks like he will be making his return to the offensive unit, with the arrival of Mattias Holmberg. Benson was one of the few members of the Riot to maintain his scoring pace from last season, scoring 10 goals and 32 points from the blue line, he managed to repeat his 10 goals, and nearly repeating his point totals, reaching 30. It will be interesting to see how he fairs with Colt, Brumm, Sirmais and Wilson this season on offense. Benson is one of the best passer in the league today, it is his best attribute and it could be scary to see him paired up next to Brumm. His skating is also very good, and sometimes is seems like he can go on for ever. He is also very strong and an amazing puck handler. He has an underrated shot that can definitely do damage as well, and is reliable in his own end. (S31) Trevor Wilson - 803 TPE twils CK = Checking: 54 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 86 ST = Strength: 80 EN = Endurance: 80 PH = Puck Handling: 82 3/8 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 81 SC = Scoring: 91 DF = Defense: 86 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Probably the brightest young star for the Seattle Riot at the moment, is Trevor Wilson. The Riot fans have seen this kid play for 2 seasons now, and he is showing great signs of becoming a force for the Riot very soon. It could be as soon as this season. He and Sirmais are looking stronger and stronger and could end up being a great duo, and maybe the coach will give Knouse a chance on this line, and we could see the 3 young stars play together. Wilson averages incredible balance in his production so far in his career, scoring 9 goals and 9 assists in his rookie year, and bringing up his totals to 12 goals and 12 assists this past season. Wilson’s best attribute is definitely his scoring ability. He may be young, but when he gets the puck in a scoring chance, it is lethal. He can throw a check or two here or there, but he's not known for physical play. He is known however, to use his strength and speed to be very reliable in his own end. He is also a good passer of the puck and a good puck handler as well. (S22) Pavel Bursyuk - 899 TPE CK = Checking: 40 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 63 SK = Skating: 91 ST = Strength: 75 EN = Endurance: 85 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 85 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 94 SC = Scoring: 71 DF = Defense: 91 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Bursyuk is the oldest winger in the top 6 for the Riot, he dates back to S22 and he still showing good signs of playmaking abilities. He has been the veteran presence on the youth line for the Riot, trying to help Sirmais and Wilson evolve into the future of the franchise. Bursyuk has always been known for his unreal passing abilities and great defensive abilities. Although both have taken a step down with age, he is still very good at both. He is also extremely fast, barely losing a step since his prime days. Bursyuk can still play big minutes when needed and is still a slick handler of the puck. Where he does lack though is in his scoring abilities and even more so in his physical game. He uses his speed and intelligence to produce offensively and defend as well. Bursyuk actually managed to increase his production this season, despite being put on a line with so much youth, his experience showed to be a huge attribute for his team. He managed to improve his goal totals from 10 to 15 and repeat his 15 assists, bringing him to 30 points on the season. (S32) Cory Knouse - 644 TPE ckroyal92 CK = Checking: 53 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 85 ST = Strength: 70 EN = Endurance: 75 PH = Puck Handling: 75 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 87 SC = Scoring: 80 DF = Defense: 85 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Ladies and gentleman, the man has arrived in Seattle! The fans are going absolutely crazy about the hottest prospect in the Riot’s squad, Cory Knouse. Knouse just lost a heart breaker in the finals of the SMJHL, watching the Montreal Impact lift the cup, knowing his time was done, and he would be leaving the Kelowna Knights. However, his new challenge has arrived, the big leagues. Knouse comes in as one of the strongest looking rookies this year, and if given the right amount of ice time, he could be the leagues rookie of the year and win the Jesster award. Knouse has a very versatile game especially for his age, he’s a good scorer and passer, and he’s fast and loves to defend. All 4 of these aspects really round off the young wingers game. He is also a good puck handler, and was able to play solid minutes in the SMJHL, although he will need to work on that to do the same in the SHL. He’s surprisingly strong for his age, and can deliver a hit from time to time! (S21) Cameron Urbowicz - 681 TPE BruinsFanatic100 CK = Checking: 40 *weakness* FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 85 ST = Strength: 79 EN = Endurance: 75 PH = Puck Handling: 86 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 83 SC = Scoring: 70 DF = Defense: 89 PS = Penalty Shot: 41 The aging veteran Cameron Urbowicz is coming off a bounce back season, after regressing quite a bit he seemed to be losing his spot on the team, however, this past year he was a bright spot in the Riot’s not so bright offense. After managing just 10 goals and 23 points in s32, he found a way to increase those totals to 11 goals and 29 points, with less playing time, on the 3rd line and with his team scoring less goals, it’s pretty impressive especially considering he regressed! However, now he has regressed some more, and with Cory Knouse replacing Zaitsev on the roster, it looks like “Urbo†will quickly become the team’s weakest forward for the Riot, and in his last year of his contract, he might be considering retirement at season’s end. Urbowicz still brings a solid defensive game to the Riot’s 3rd,line, along with good puck handling, passing and skating abilities. His endurance has regressed greatly, so look to see his time on ice be at a minimum. He still has a decent amount of strength left in him, however his physical game is inexistent. (S20) Jed Lloren - 1204 TPE r1c3bowl22 CK = Checking: 40 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 94 ST = Strength: 90 EN = Endurance: 93 DU = Durability: 40 PH = Puck Handling: 90 FO = Faceoffs: 53 PA = Passing: 93 SC = Scoring: 83 DF = Defense: 90 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Jed Lloren is still not signed by the Riot, but until he officially signs with another team, he is a member of the Riot. GMs Probablydrunk and Michael Abdalla are hopeful that Lloren will want to play another year with the team, as with his presence they are showing great strides of improvement for S34. Loren is one of the top scorers for the Riot, he is a magnificent play maker with a good shot, he plays excellent defensive hockey as well. Loren is known to be one of the fastest players in the league and one of the best endurance players as well. He is also a strong player with great puck handling skills. In S32 Lloren was 7th in scoring and 4th in goal scoring in the league, both 1 spot under teammate and line mate Patrick Brumm. He had 25 goals and 53 points. In S33 he took a bit of a step back, only putting up 17 goals and 35 points, but still 2nd in scoring on the team, behind Brumm. Defense: (S24) Jack Burton - 1418 TPE Gifter of Bikes CK = Checking: 90 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 66 SK = Skating: 88 ST = Strength: 90 EN = Endurance: 90 PH = Puck Handling: 90 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 94 SC = Scoring: 74 DF = Defense: 99 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Leading the way on the blue line is the face of the franchise, the man with the most TPE in the Seattle Riot roster, Jack Burton! This man has been a part of the Riot since he was drafted by the team in S24, he is a loyal player and has a great relationship with the coaches, GMs and owners. Burton is an exceptional defensemen, he is one of the most underrated players to ever play in the SHL. He doesn’t rack up the incredible Garbanzo like stats, but he is a pain to play against and is one of the most all around defenders defensively. Burton is incredibly smart, his positioning is on point at all times, he can lay the body and has very high strength. He’s also capable of skating very well, and playing lots of big minutes. His defensive game is definitely his strongest asset, however, his passing and puck handling is also incredible. One of the main reasons he is so under rated, is he rarely shoots the puck, when he does its a pure goal scoring opportunity and it never looks too intimidating. The rest of his game is at an elite level, and will be for many more seasons. (S30) Viatcheslav Orlov - 1021 TPE mpc CK = Checking: 79 3/4 FG = Fighting: 36 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 85 2/8 ST = Strength: 88 3/8 EN = Endurance: 86 2/8 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 73 11/12 FO = Face Offs: 43 PA = Passing: 86 3/8 SC = Scoring: 80 3/8 DF = Defense: 90 PS = Penalty Shot: 46 Viatcheslav Orlov has come a long way, in a short amount of time for the Seattle Riot. He was drafted in S30, and now is really starting to look impressive as he is fully entered into his prime. Last season was the first real evaluation for Orlov, as he was in a limited role in his rookie season, and he was needed in the 3rd line centre role last year. As the 3rd line centre, in a transition year for the Riot, he looked a bit out of place, he was a big defensive defender playing a role he had never done before, in only his 2nd SHL season. He did well however, putting up 7 goals and 18 points and laying the body 98 times. This past season however, he went back to his preferred role on the blue line, and put up 6 goals and 22 points, laying the body 104 times and blocking 69 shots. He grew a lot with his incredible work ethic, and has grown even more since then, and now with Benson moving back to forward, it looks like Orlov will get his shot to lead the team on the first line pairing with Jack Burton. Orlov is a great defensive minded defenseman, with strong passing abilities and a hard shot, he’s got wheels and strength and can throw the body as well. He has the ability to play big minutes when needed and can drop the gloves too. (S26) Mattias Holmberg - 1015 TPE MyLittleHexx CK = Checking: 45 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 89 ST = Strength: 85 EN = Endurance: 85 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 90 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 89 SC = Scoring: 80 DF = Defense: 95 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 The newest arrival of the Seattle Riot, is Mattias Holmberg. Coming off freshly winning the Challenge Cup with New England, he is ready to help lead this team. GM Michael Abdalla brought him in to help the performance in the playoffs, where the Riot have been struggling, and Holmberg’s cup win will definitely help that. Holmberg is not known to be very physical, but he is strong and he is fast. He is a great handler of the puck and a very accurate passer. He can play big minutes and has a pretty good shot as well. His biggest asset however, is his defensive game, he is intelligent and well positioned, and works very hard to keep the puck out of his net. He managed 8 goals and 23 points in S32, adding 58 shot blocks, and then did not find the back of the net last season, but up 22 assists, and blocked 63 shots. His tim on ice average went down about 4 minutes between those 2 seasons, as New England’s depth was impressive on the back end, however, his role should be back to what it was 2 seasons ago, now with the Seattle Riot. (S28) Jackson Cartier - 866 TPE 701 aka YUNG GUAP GOD CK = Checking: 60 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 90 ST = Strength: 80 EN = Endurance: 86 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 82 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 90 SC = Scoring: 75 DF = Defense: 87 6/8 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Jackson Cartier was brought in from Los Angeles when Michael Abdalla was taking over as GM. Cartier has been one of the bright spots for the team’s future since then, however, his development has been slightly slower than anticipated. Nonetheless, he is still a very valuable member of the Riot blue line, having a strong role in the team’s top 4 defenders. Cartier will most likely be paired with Holmberg this season, and will likely be counted on to produce offense from the back using his excellent passing abilities. That and his skating speed, are his two strongest parts of his game. He is also strong in his own end, and capable of playing big minutes. He is a strong player who can dish out a hit when needed, who can handle the puck well, but has a mediocre shot. In S32 Cartier had 1 goal and 13 assists, and blocked 62 shots. This past year he was paired with Orlov and that upped his offensive output to 4 goals and 16 assists, but lowered his shot blocking to 41. The Riot will be relying on their defensive game this season again, having a strong top 6 and a strong goaltender, Cartier will be counted on to produce offense from the back, and help keep their goals against to a minimum. (S20) Mikko Koskinen - 928 TPE CK = Checking: 88 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 63 SK = Skating: 81 ST = Strength: 91 - 89 EN = Endurance: 76 DU = Durability: 40 PH = Puck Handling: 83 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 92 SC = Scoring: 65 *weakness* DF = Defense: 85 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 The everlasting Mikko Koskinen, he has been a member of the Riot since his early days in S20, and has never looked back. Koskinen started off as a forward for the team, but since has used his great two way game and physical game to be a defender. He has had some great years for the team scoring plenty of points, however, now he is in a more limited role. He is predicted to be playing in the bottom 6 this season with Jhonas Skarsgaard, but many experts still put his play ahead of Jackson Cartier’s, and so it is very possible to see the more offensive defender paired up with Holmberg in the top 4 at some point this season. Mikko is known for great strength and physical play, along with excellent passing. He is also reliable in his own end, and can handle the puck well. His legs have given out on him a little bit since his prime, however, he is still capable of skating well, just not for as long. His main weakness is in his shooting ability, he is not counted on to score goals for his team. Koskinen is coming off a down year that saw him score just 2 goals and 16 points, use the body 100 times and blocked 52 shots, compared to S32 where he 5 goals and 22 points, 170 hits and 77 shot blocks. (S18) Jhonas Skarsgaard - 637 TPE CK = Checking: 88 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 80 ST = Strength: 40 EN = Endurance: 60 PH = Puck Handling: 78 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 74 SC = Scoring: 83 DF = Defense: 90 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 The oldest player in the Seattle Riot locker room, and also the lowest evaluated skater now a day for the team, is Jhonas Skarsgaard. Skarsgaard has had some great success in his career, as winger and as a defender, he was always known for his great shot, physical hits and two way play. Now he has regressed a tremendous amount, and he is looking much weaker and can not play as many minutes as he once could. He can still defend very well when called upon however, and his shot and hits are still fierce. His speed is not bad, his puck handling mediocre and his passing could be better, however. Just 2 seasons ago, Skarsgaard was 5th in scoring for the team with a limited role, he scored 6 goals and 20 assists averaging around 16 minutes of ice time per game, he also hit 100 times and blocked 57 shots. Last season his offensive numbers dropped to 3 goals and 15 assists, this time averaging around 13 and a half minutes per game his hits also dropped to 77 and shot blocks to 32. It has to be assumed that with his play continuing to regress, his stats should too, although you never know when your playing next to Mikko Koskinen. Goaltenders: (S28) Michael McFadden - 1330 TPE SK = Skating: 95 EN = Endurance: 95 SZ = Size: 95 AG = Agility: 95 RB = Rebound Control: 99 SC = Style Control: 95 HS = Hand Speed: 99 RT = Reaction Time:99 PH = Puck Handling: 72 PS = Penalty Shot: 80 The starting goaltender for the Seattle Riot is one of their strongest players, Michael McFadden. McFadden is coming into his 5th season as the team’s starter, and is looking more complete than ever. It’s hard to find a hole in his game, he is an excellent skater, he can play top minutes and as many games as needed, he uses his size wonderfully, he is incredibly agile, he doesn't play out of style and is one of the top goalies to have in a penalty shootout. His top strengths are definitely his reflexes, his hands are incredibly fast and his reactions are on point. He also rarely gives a rebound, he looks like a puck vacuum out there at times. If there was one point that he has been in need of improving, it’s his puck handling. Although there aren’t too many goalies better than him at it, its an area that would need improving compared to the rest. Although he has addressed the issue and has stated to be working hard this off-season to help his team kick back off the offense when the opposition dumps the puck in, and he is apparently working hard on improving his shootout abilities too. In S32 McFadden was coming along into his prime, he won 25 games with a 14 and 5 record in his losses, he posted a .914 save percentage and a 2.37 goals against average with 1 shutout while having fakee 1230 shots. In this past season, he was expected to elevate his game, and for most of the season he was playing with godly numbers, but the crash in the end really affected his totals, he finished with a record of 25-16-3 and his save percentage was .905 with a goal against average of 2.69, his only improved stats were his 4 shutouts and having faced slightly more shots, 1249 to be exact. This season McFadden will look to bounce back, and hopefully even improve his career best numbers from S32, and lead the team like he did until the trade deadline last season. (S20) Phil Osgood - 400 TPE SK = Skating: 50 *weakness* EN = Endurance: 50 DU = Durability: 50 SZ = Size: 86 AG = Agility: 86 RB = Rebound Control: 85 SC = Style Control: 85 HS = Hand Speed: 85 RT = Reaction Time: 85 PH = Puck Handling: 50 PS = Penalty Shot: 50 The backup goaltender of the Seattle Riot is one of the most experienced goalies in the league. He played the majority of his career as a back up, and the remainder of his career will be exactly that. He is however, very reliable as a goaltender. His 5-1 record in S32 proved that, where he posted a save percentage of .933 and a goals against average of 1.97 with 2 shutouts. Last season, he was a bit less successful, with a 3-2-1 record, a .923 save percentage and 2.12 goals against average, with 1 shutout, however those stats are still very solid. His endurance makes him not able to play too many games however, and that’s the main reason why he is limited to 6 games a season. He is a slow goalie with little to no talent with the puck and in a shootout, he is able to use his size and is still rather agile, he can control his rebounds well and his reaction time combined with his hand speed makes him still tough to beat up top. His experience definitely shows in his play, especially when you notice how disciplined he is in his style. Osgood doesn’t seem to be getting any younger, however, he looks to still be a valuable part of the Riot, who don’t seem to ever be looking for goaltenders around the league. The youth: (S33) Caelan Fearghal - 465 TPE Sorator CK = Checking: 60 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 61 ST = Strength: 75 EN = Endurance: 70 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 80 FO = Face Offs: 40 PA = Passing: 72 SC = Scoring: 40 DF = Defense: 80 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Caelan Fearghal is currently playing for the Prince George Firebirds, and is one of the top prospects for the Seattle Riot. With Cory Knouse getting his shot this upcoming season, Fearghal is now top on the depth charts for prospects in the Seattle system. There was even some consideration to bring him up early, and have him play with the big team as soon as this season. But with the acquisition of Mattias Holmberg, it seems Fearghal will in fact wait one more year until he is really SHL ready. Fearghal’s game looks to be strongly based around his defensive play and his puck handling ability. He is also pretty strong for his age, has accurate passing skills and can already start playing some pretty impressive minutes. His physical game is also well rounded off for a player of his age. He will be looking to improve his skating and shooting ability in the future, but for where he’s at in his career, he is looking mighty impressive, and im sure Seattle fans are very excited to see him play next season. (S33) Teddy Kesler - 414 TPE Jala CK = Checking: 42 [1/2] FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 80 ST = Strength: 60 EN = Endurance: 70 DU = Durability: 50 (do not add TPE here, injuries are turned off) PH = Puck Handling: 61 [1/2] FO = Face Offs: 70 PA = Passing: 65 SC = Scoring: 75 DF = Defense: 73 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Teddy Kesler is a bright spot for the Seattle Riot’s centre man position, where they seem to be lacking on the big team. Once Colt moves to wing, it looks to be just Sirmais as their true potential 1st line centre, with Rask being the next best option. However, Rask’s potential is dropping more and more, while Teddy Kesler is looking to be the man to help Sirmais lead the team in the future, with a top 2 role at centre. Kessler is currently playing in Colorado for the Mammoths and early on in his career we can see that he is going to be a very well rounded player. He is already good at face-offs, and scoring and at defensive play, however his top ability is clearly his skating. He is not too bad at playing top minutes as well, and he is rather strong for his age. He will want to get his puck handling and passing abilities up, but we have seen strides made in recent seasons. (S33) Zinaida Titova - 359 TPE galatix CK = Checking: 40 FG = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 63 SK = Skating: 73 ST = Strength: 69 EN = Endurance: 70 DU = Durability: 50 (do not add TPE here, injuries are turned off) PH = Puck Handling: 76 FO = Face Offs: 44 PA = Passing: 75 SC = Scoring: 65 DF = Defense: 75 PS = Penalty Shot: 40 Mrs. Titova has been a great member for the Riot’s locker room, and her play in Colorado is also showing that she will be great on the ice for the team as well. She is team mates with fellow Riot prospect, Teddy Kesler, so one has to wonder if they will develop the same kind of chemistry we are seeing between Cory Knouse and Trevor Wilson. Titova has based her game off of 4 main attributes, her passing ability, her skill with the puck, he skating and her defensive awareness. She is turning out to be very complete as a forward. She also has a rather good shot for a playmaker of her age, she can play the minutes needed from her in Colorado, she is strong for her age too but will be looking to up her physical game one day. Now we move on to the announcement of the new S34 captains! The alternate captain for the home games for S34 is - DAVID BENSON! GoodLeftUndone Benson has been a part of this team for a long time, and he is a crucial member to the Riot and their fans. He is our alternate captain at home for being a fan favourite and for being one of the most treasured members of the team. The alternate captain for the away games for S34 is - VIATCHESLAV ORLOV mpc Orlov has been the alternate captain before, and will continue to do so due to being so damn good at it. He takes heat from around the league so well, and continues to play his excellent game. He is the perfect man to lead this team in other team’s arenas. The primary alternate captain for S34 is - JACK BURTON! Gifter of Bikes Jack Burton has volunteered to let go of his captain role on the team, feeling it was time to let a new, fresh face get the chance to lead this team. Everyone is well aware of Burton’s role on this team, and whenever he speaks, it is taken with great weight. Burton will be wearing an A this year, but will also be a huge factor in leading our new captain, and teaching him the ropes of being the man wearing the C. The new captain for the Seattle Riot is - TREVOR WILSON! twils Congrats to one of the new faces of this franchise! We have a ton of high hopes for Twils, and we are super happy to see how far he has come. We know he will lead this team with the best of his abilities. So congrats to him!
