<div align="center">Halifax Raiders 4 || Vancouver Whalers 3</div>

The Raiders suffered a hard blow the previous day while facing the Mammoths. During the plane flight to Vancouver, they took the time to regroup around their captains and veterans. All together, they motivated themselves to give it all on the ice when facing the Whalers at the Pacific Coliseum. Every player would be proudly wearing the Raiders logo on the ice and despite hard time, they knew the future was bright for them.

Despite the pep talk provided by the leadership of the team, the scoring opened in favor of the Whalers in the first period. Spitfire was able to elude FourFour Jr. attention and sent the puck in the back of the Raiders net barely 4 minutes into the period. Destabilizing the visiting team, some player started to pay a bit less attention to their movement, which cost Halifax. Dwayne Wyder was caught tripping a Vancouver player by the referee and was sent to the box. Angelo Odjick managed to deflect a blast sent by Robert Phelps right in front of the net on the first shot of Vancouver power play. After spending barely 15 seconds in the penalty box, Wyder came back on the ice looking for an opportunity to redeem himself to his team. After a beautiful pass by Downski, the Halifax’s Wyder carried the puck from the neutral zone to the back of the Whalers net, making up for his bad penalty. A couple of minute after the goal, the first overall pick of the S35 draft, Isak Ødegård, received a 2 minutes for Hooking. Soon after the time was up, the Raiders took advantage of the power play momentum and Marino scored his first goal of the season, making the teams even 2-2. Before the end of the first period, Kikkoman was sanctioned a 2 minutes for roughing the Raiders’ bad mouth McCarthy and Müller was attributed the same time for a Hooking call.

During the second period, Vancouver had the first opportunity to cash on a penalty when Müller received his second of the night for Tripping a player. However, the penalty kill unit stayed strong after allowing one in the first period. Tides turned after the mid-period as it was Halifax turn to be rewarded with two quick power play. They were looking to punish Vancouver for the Hooking penalty that Kikkoman took but came short. Another opportunity arises when Spitfire got sent to the box for Holding, but just like the Raiders, the Whalers’ penalty kill unit manned the fort.

A few minutes into the third period, Marino took the situation in his hand and showed the Halifax rookies what seasoning could do in the league. With his help, the team was now 3-2 over Vancouver. However, they were unable to celebrate for long as Bennett fooled FourFour Jr. and netted the puck behind him. This created some tension for both team, now even in scoring. During a rush to attack, Bernstein was forgotten by the defensemen of the home team and took the opportunity to position himself in front of Murray. When he saw Cody Fletcher blast a rocket in his direction, he managed to barely touch it with his stick, deflecting it in the net. With five minutes to go in the period, the Raiders faced some pressure when Bar Downski took a bad penalty at the end of the period for Slashing. Fortunately, Halifax had a breath of fresh air and were able to sail away with their first victory of the season.

The unsung hero of the match for the Raiders was Chuck Bernstein. He managed to deflect Fletcher’s shot in the net, earning him the game winning goal. He had two shots on goal and hit Vancouver players three times. He also won the only face-off he did while spending 18 minutes on the ice.
