S34 Colorado Mammoths Award Ceremony
(1701 Words / Ready for Grading)

Hello all and welcome to the Colorado Mammoths S34 Award Ceremony. In this article we will celebrate the great Mammoths of S34 - writing them into the annals of Colorado history for all time. Among these players are wily veterans to the SMJHL scene and some fresh new faces. The goal of the GMs in Colorado over the last few seasons have been to transform a team that once suffered from a lack of activity, hype, and buzz, into a team of great promise that is widely regarded around the league and sought after as a destination by rookies. These players we are honoring today have been the biggest pieces in our continued build. Whether they take the ice for the S35 season or move onto the SHL, they are treasured members of the Colorado Mammoths family and people we all hope have the utmost succes. We are proud you are Mammoths and we feel lucky to have you share the locker room with us on a daily basis. So with no further ado, we will move into the players that have made the Colorado Mammoths special over the last season and honr their accomplishments.

Our first award is handed out to the player that shows the greatest leadership among the team. Someone who is ever-present among the team and leads from not only example - but through words. The winner of our first award is no stranger to leading the team. She has become one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise and her time on the ice will not be forgotten. She is now moving up to play in the big show and we are proud to see her take that next step. We wish her all the best and she will always be a Colorado Mammoth in my eyes. We are proud to present the The Team Leadership Award to such a dynamic and friendly person.

Our next award goes to the player that demonstrated the essense of hard work and dedication to the Colorado Mammoths team. Someone who takes it upon themself to be the best they can be and show what it means to be a Colorado Mammoth. Our winner is a newcomer to the Mammoths but he showed in his first season just how dedicated one player can be and continues to do as time passes. He is one of the most core players for the team and has shared his love for the team. And we're so lucky we were able to select him in the S35 SMJHL draft. Someone who has continued to grow into not only a great player on the ice but an ambassador for Colorad Hockey. We are proud to present The Most Dedicated Player Award to a pillar of the Mammoths moving forward.

Up next we will be presenting the Award for the Forward that demonstrates the best of two way play. Someone who can do whatever it takes for the team to win. Playing the tough minutes and solid defense. They are the forward most relied on in the toughest minutes of the games. Our winner has been a monster for the Colorado Mammoths for three seasons now and has steadily gotten better as the seasons have passed. He has been the go-to center on the powerplay and penalty kill. While not the most vocal player in the league - he is a very important member of the Colorado Mammoths. Someone who can be counted on in every situation. He has recently told the team he will be returning for one final season in Colorado and we are excited to bring him back into the fold! The Colorado Mammoths are proud to present The Tim Buckner Trophy for Top Two-Way Forward to an amazing center.

Teddy Kesler

Our forth award goes to the most talented offensive forward on the Colorado Mammoths. Someone who can take over games with their electric play. Someone who steps onto the ice and the other team knows that they will need to play their absolute best or they will be down a goal in no time. Our winner for the S34 season wi;l be no surprise, as she was the winner in S33 and one of the most electric players in the entire SMJHL. Someone who always challenged the opposing team with her pinpoint passing and deceptive shot. As we have said above. She has been an important part of the Colorado Mammoths and we were happy to see her success in S34. She came up one point short of taking the lead for most points in a season by a Colorado Mammoths player but leaving the team tied for the top is still very special. We are proud to present The Potato Chips Trophy for Top Offensive Forward to one of the most important alumni of the Colorado Mammoths.

Up next we have the award for the best defenseman on Colorado Mammoths. Someone who anchors the team and sets the defensive pace while finding the right times to make the offense go. The winner of the S34 award for best defenseman is also a repeat on this list. He spent all of the season playing on the 2nd pairing and still shone brighter than other defenders on the defensive unit. He brought an offensive spark unrivaled by other rookies in the past of the franchise and continues to develop into the definition of a blue chip defensive prospect. He is returning for the S35 season, but not as a 2nd pairing cog, but as the premier defender on the team and possibily in the league. We are proud to present The Kristoffer Ruud Trophy for Top Defenseman to an integral part of the team and one of the hottest upcoming SHL prospects.

Our next trophy will be handed out to a position often overlooked and that would be the top goaltender for the Colorado Mammoths. Over the nearly 10 seasons the Colorado Mammoths, the team has been very lucky to have solid goaltenders that have masked some of the difficult seasons and shown that the back end is what truly defines a team. Our winner for the S34 season has been a rock for 3 seasons in net for the Mammoths, and while he has opted to not play hockey for the S35 season, was still one of the best goaltenders in the league in season 34. He always gave the Mammoths a chance to win and played a very exciting style in net. He has been a big part of allowing our current young group to develop. He will be fondly remember as a Colorado Mammoth and a part of the great goaltending tradition of such a young franchise. The Colorado Mammoths are proud to present The Jacob Andrews Trophy for Top Goaltender a very underrated keeper.

Next up is the award for the top rookie for the Colorado Mammoths in S34. This is the new player on the team that shows not only the best talent on the ice but talent off as well. Someone who makes waves across the league and shows ultimate promise moving forward. Our winner is not a surprise again. There is not much else we can say about him at this point but he's becoming the heart and soul of the Colorado Mammoths with the departure of Zinaida Titova. His rookie season wasn't one for the SMJHL record books but it was one of the most impressive for the team in years. Scoring 27 points for the 2nd pairing and being competitive in nearly every stat with defenders/forwards seasons older than him puts him into great company. Since we've already gushed about him enough this ceremeony. The Colorado Mammoths are proud to present the Mammoths Top Rookie award to a big part of our future.

Our next awards will be handed out to the MVPs of both the regular season and playoffs. Since both of these players are huge parts of the Mammoths family and I feel like MVP awards should be connnected - I am going to announce them together in the same paragraph. Our regular season MVP has already been on this list and she showed up for the entire regular season. She helped push this team to the most success it has had since S27. She was a deadly offensive weapon, a solid two-way forward and someone who helped keep the LR together. Our Playoff MVP is a player who hasn't gotten nearly enough credit in past awards ceremonies. He's a VERY important part of the team but he has never been "the best" at any one thing. So being the swiss army knife of the team never really gathers you any personal accolades but a lot of love from your teammates. This player helped the Mammoths fight in the playoffs, and despite our disappointing exit to the Prince George Firebirds, he led by example and was THE MAN on the Colorado Mammoths. He continues to play with the team in S35 and will again be one of the most important people not only on the ice but in the locker room. We're lucky to have him on the Mammoths and hope he is happy to be part of Mammoths history. So without further ado we'd like to announce the Regular Season MVP and Playoff MVP (in that order) and celebrate some of the best players on the team.

Zinaida Titova (Regular Season MVP)
&
Vratislav Zbyněk (Playoff MVP)

Thank you all for taking the time to join us for the S34 Colorado Mammoths Award Ceremony. We're all super proud of all these players. But let's not let it get lost in the shuffle just how proud we are of all the members of the Colorado Mammoths. Every single person on the team is an integral part of the team and it's history. We're lucky to have such a good group of people in our Locker Room and we can't wait to see what you can all achieve this season and beyond!</div>
