The Raiders finally faced new faces in the eleventh match of their season. They left Vancouver in direction of St. Louis where the Scarecrows would welcome them in the Scottrade Center. For their first duel against them, the Raiders were hoping to start it with a big cannon blast.

The first period started with an hiccup for Halifax. Ellie Werenski was sent to the sin bin a couple of minutes into the game, the referee not liking his hook on vancouver’s player. Fortunately for the Raiders, the Scarecrows did not manage to capitalize on the power play. Despite the early penalty, the players in white were able to gain the momentum of the game and Bernstein was able to get into position to deflect in the net one of Cody Fletcher’s shot. However, to the Raiders’ sorrow, Glass received a penalty for Roughing and in the following two minutes, Carric was able to equalize the score. On the following faceoff, Chupp was caught hookie a player and sent to St. Louis penalty box. This didn’t allow the Raiders to gain back the momentum and Augustus scored his first of the season before the end of the period.

The first few seconds of the second period offered an opportunity for the rookie heavy team of the Raiders when Villy took a penalty for roughing. However, the penalty kill unit of St. Louis stayed tall in front of them. It was not same situation that happened when it was Halifax turn to be on the penalty kill when Ramrap slashed a Scarecrows. Jesus was able to fool Jordin FourFour Jr. and sent the puck behind him. Montek Ramrap was punished a second time in a row a few seconds after he got out of the bo when the referee considered him as hooking an opponent. The tides turned when it was St. Louis turn to attract the wrath of the referees. Everything started with Carric who sent a Raiders’ player flying into the board. Halifax was then able to cash on Chupp’s Hooking penalty and put the score 3-2. The momentum continued when Dubois was sent to the sin bin after a rough altercation with McCarthy.

The story kept going in the third period for the Raiders. Chupp took another penalty a few minutes after the game started and he was punished by Ted Glass who sent a blast behind Wagner. However, he put a bit of pressure soon after, being sent to the box for hooking by the referee. The power play units of the Scarecrows didn’t manage to crack FourFour Jr. and the score stayed even. The golden treasure was offered to Halifax when Jako received a double minor penalty for Hick Sticking after breaking a Raiders’ player’s lip. It was Klozoff that managed to run with the treasure after a five hole shot on Wagner. The Raiders were then able to sail home with a golden win.

The unsung hero of the match for the Raiders was Cloud McCarthy who had two assists on both goal that lead to the equalization. He also tried to score once, blocked one of the shot generated by the Scarecrows and had one hit. He was on the ice for close to 22 minutes in the game.
