Luke Thomason Game 1-4 Interview
#1

Hey Luke, thank you for sitting down with us before you game tomorrow and after your first couple games as a whaler.

Thank you, it still feels like yesterday I got drafted by them, and now I'm on their 4th line helping them out.

How was your first game of the season? What could you improve on in your game?

Well, my first game was great, I got the first goal of the season for the whalers, so that was something I will remember forever. Coming in after that first shift was a big adrenalin rush. I was lucky that I was able to fly my mother and father there, and they were very proud of me, and I wanted them to see my score. I would say the most I have to improve is my defensive skills, of course being on the 4th line I might face the 1st line and they are a lot better than us, so I just have to work harder than people. In the end, we won the game so that was also really good. Even though I don't play a ton, I feel like I make a positive impact on the ice.

Do you want to talk about your second game of the season then? And how would you improve your game from that?

Yeah, the second game was not that great to me. Though what I will say is that while I was on the ice no pucks went in. But if you can see through the play by play, I turn over the puck way too much when I pass, it seemed like everytime I passed the puck it ended up getting intercepted by the other team. I need to start making smarter passes definitely. What I can say too is that I also intercept a lot of pucks too, so that is a positive. It's a shame that we lost to them, but a hard-fought battle.

Same for game 3, what can you get out of it

Yeah, game 3 was a good game for both teams. I got to match up with a couple of Czech guys I knew, and we were both good teams. Of course, I'm happy that we won the game, and I'm even happier I could score the shootout goal that helped us win the game. Knowing Petr Vrana helped me get the puck past him, and he is a very good goalie so it was very hard to do that. Also getting an assist that game showed the coaches and gm that I can be a good playmaker, with good potential to move up. I did a lot better at keeping the puck, but I still need to hold on it more.

And with game 4?

Nothing much to say about game 4 that I havent said about the previous games. I just need to keep on worker hander and better than anyone else. Work every day and I will get better. Every week I get better and better, hopefully by the end of the season I'll be up with more playing time and more responsibility.

How do you feel about your linemates?

I love my linemates, we mesh well together, already in 4 games we put up 4 points as a line, now we aren't all on the same line as we scored or assisted, but it shows how much potential we have. We have a great center(Soren Kierkegaard) and our right winger(jack kennedy) has a killer shot, now he just needs to get it in the net.

Thank you for your time, I hope you play well tomorrow.

Thank you, I'll try my best.
