Registered Posting Freak On the eve of the IIHF tournament opening ceremonies and events, Canada has called a press conference to announce this seasons Roster. While the roster is stacked with experienced Gold medal winners, there are also a a few young fresh faces, as Canada begins a new era of youth development. Now onto the IIHF Roster announcement. Forwards Robert Phelps ( @DrunkenTeddy ) Luke Atmey ( @Velevra ) Nour Harrak ( @nour ) Sophia Bennett ( @goilers) Trevor Wilson (@twils ) Angelo Odjick ( @Quantum Cowboy ) Derrick Glover ( @DonutDefender ) Willy Mack (@Mack ) Joshua Woodcroft ( @Glyc ) Carter Manning ( @CDub2 ) Jeff Brogen ( @Flowseidon ) Jack Kennedy ( @JRed94 ) Defense Connor Tanner ( @Keygan ) Ben Dover ( @ThatDamnMcJesus ) Sami Owens ( @Tylar ) Gary Grease ( @FlappyGiraffe ) Kelly Rivet* ( @Snuffalupagus ) Jean-Pierre Gay ( @JumpierPancakes ) Goalies Walter Hobbs ( @Jearim ) JayBae ( @Jaymay ) Team Captain: Robert Phelps Alternate Captain: Connor Tanner Alternate Captain 2(home): Gary Grease Alternate Captain 2(Away): Sophia Bennett Canada comes into this tournament with some serious fire power. Their top 6 can match up with any top 6 in the world and have the ability to find the back of the net. With players like Phelps, Atmey, Bennett, Harrak, Odjick, Canada can light up the net. The bottom 6 still has some punch but now has some young talent as Kennedy, Mack and Brogen are finding their place in the Red and White Maple leaf. The defence is a deep offensive threat. Tanner, Dove, Owens, Rivet all have offensive upside. Grease is a solid 2-way D man while Rookie Jean-Pierre G** is going to have to find his spot quickly and be effective. Something management has confidence in him doing. The Puck stoppers are two of the leagues top goalies. Hobbs is entering his third season with Canada having “won” a silver medal at the IIHF level and one at the WJC level. Meanwhile the return of Jay Bae brings another solid puck stopper to the team. Anyone of these two can carry their team on any night. Depth in this position is not an issue. With many expert analysts divided on Canadas performance, we know they have the tools, now the question is can they put it all together and win a Gold. || || || || || ||
