Minnesota Chiefs
Chiefs Season 45 Chiefs

Season 45 we saw a lot of changes for the Minnesota Chiefs, for the first time in 24 seasons, Legendary Defenseman Alonzo Garbanzo would not be on their roster. As the future Hall of Famer finished his career at the end of the Chiefs disappointing round 2 loss in the Season 44 playoffs, at the hands of the West Kendall platoon. Long time general managerBaelor Swift also stepped down as the teams GM, with Smurph taking over for him, and Wumaduce was named as the Co-GM.

Minnesota finished the season with a record  of 27 Wins, 19 losses and 4 Overtime losses for a total of 58 points. Good enough to place them 2nd in the Eastern conference. Once again, the team that was supposedly starting a rebuild, or at least a retooling saw themselves in the Playoffs and they came out of the gate with fire. Chiefs eliminated the New England Wolfpack in just 5 games, and are about to face the team that eliminated them last season, West Kendall Platoon.
We will talk more about the playoffs in the future, now let's focus on the regular season statistics for the roster.

Chiefs
Forwards

1st Line

2nd Line

3rd Line

Top 5 Scorers
1. Terrance Nova, 23G, 33A, 56P, +5, 105 Hits, 7 Power play points.
2. Noro Wozy, 20G 33A, 53P, -1, 28 Hits, 10 Power Play points.
3. Bobby Watson, 26G, 25A, +3, 89 Hits, 8 Power Play points.
4. Derrick Glover, 10G, 26A, 36P, +13, 11 Hits, 6 Power Play points.
5. Eric Pelletier, 11G, 24A, 35P, +/- 0, 69 Hits, 4 Power Play points.

The Chiefs first line remained red hot just like last season, with all three players recording over 50 points. Bobby Watson was in a tight race for league leading goal scorer until Dani Forsberg of West Kendall Platoon passed him in the last few days. Nova and Wozy both recorded 33 Assists and 20+ goals. The line once again proved that they are still one of  the leagues best trios, but they still seem to be left out of the spotlight around the league.

Season 45 also saw the return of a familiar face, the one true Dick, Skillstedt returned to the Chiefs in a trade with Hamilton that saw young star prospect Zivan Zidek go the other way.
Skillstedt was placed on the 2nd line and provided solid numbers right away, 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 19 games in Minnesota. His Linemate Xavier Paquette who was acquired in a trade last season, recorded 13 Goals and 12 Assists for 25 points this season, providing good scoring depth. Veteran tough guy Eric Pelletier had himself another solid season, scoring 11 Goals and putting up 24 assists for 35 points, The old man also dropped the gloves 3 times this season, once with now-linemate Dick Skillstedt. Dick also fought with rookie Poopity Scoop during his time in Hamilton.

Unfortunately 3rd line right winger Muhammad McLovin disappeared from the Locker Room during the season and has not been seen since, he recorded 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points during the season, he was a young and promising player before his disappearance. His Linemate Derrick Glover had a solid season as well, recording 10 goals, 26 assists for 36 points. And Off-season signing Blåbär Bananerström capped off the line with a 16 goal and 15 assist season, bumping the Chiefs depth scoring up significantly.

Chiefs
Defense

1st Pairing
Poopity Scoop - Geoff Moore

2nd Pairing
Cara Hohenberg - Caelan Fearghal

3rd Pairing
Gilmore Tuttle - Luisa Koller

Top 3 Scorers

1. Geoff Moore - 10G, 22A, 32P, +3, 72 Shots blocked, 31 Hits.
2. Poopity Scoop - 6G, 22A, 28P, +11, 60 Shots blocked, 108 Hits.
3. Caelan Fearghal - 0G, 27A, 27P, -2, 55 Shots blocked, 63 Hits.

Geoff Moore and Poopity Scoop were paired up in Season 45, and they instantly found chemistry between eachother, providing Minnesota with good offensive help from the blueline, and playing heavy minutes, getting time on both the Powerplay and Penalty Kill. Moore recorded 10 goals and 22 assists in his second SHL Season, while Poopity Scoop recorded 6 goals and 22 assists for 28 points in his rookie season. Poopity Scoop also brought much needed Physicality on the blue line, with his huge unit of a body and his taste for blood, recording 108 Hits, more than 2 other top D-men combined.
Moore stepped up big for the Chiefs this season, leading the D-men in scoring and posting 10 goals, 4 of them on the Powerplay.
The Duo has the potential to become one of the leagues top pairings in a few seasons, as long as both players keep developing the way the have so far.
Caelan Fearghal had an interesting season, scoring 0 goals but collecting 27 assists, while providing decent defense with 55 shot blocks and 63 hits, although inactive, Fearghal proved to be a decent asset for the Chiefs.

The remaining defensemen are nothing to write home about so i'll leave them out for now.

Chiefs
Goaltending

Starter
Sebastien Primeau
23 Wins, 17 Losses, 4 Overtime Losses, .898 Save percentage, 3.00 Goals against average, 1 Shutout.

Backup
Nathan Cosco
4 Wins, 2 Losses, .890 Save Percentage, 2.97 Goals against average, 1 Shutout.

Primeau had another solid season in net for the Chiefs, although his statistics may seem less than ideal, he was a big part of the Chiefs making it to the playoff for the 2nd season in a row. He also recorded a career high in wins with 23, one more than his previous 22 win seasons. Primeau is also still developing so his stats should be on the rise in the next few seasons. Currently sitting at 88 wins, Sebastien should easily reach the 100 wins milestone next season.

The practically inactive rookie backup Nathan Cosco serviced the Chiefs well, winning 4 of his 6 starts and recording one shutout while at it.

That does it for the Regular season recap, we will be back tomorrow or Friday with a prospects piece for the Chiefs.
