DRAFT: Nick Connolly Profile Meet the confident young forward with arguably pro-ready playmaking ability, who knows how to tally up the points. A virtual lock to be one of the first forwards selected in the Season 48 SMJHL Draft, Nick Connolly has no shortage of confidence. While he hasn't been talked about much as one of the next two to four prospects after projected top pick Travis Bitties, Connolly believes he should be and perhaps he's right. "I feel I'm right up with those guys," he said. "If you look at how I produced this year I am right up with them. They're awesome players, tremendous guys, I know a few of them but that's just how I was born and raised. To be the best.” That confidence has been paired with a ridiculous skill set, which includes incredible on ice vision. Any team that is currently sleeping on this prospect will regret it when it comes time to play against him. "I think my game is being an agile, speedy winger with a lot of skill and creativity.” he said. "Humbly, I believe I have the best vision in this draft.” Ever since Connolly was a young boy, he’s thrived on making those around him better. He opens up passing lanes with his speed and puck handling ability. He uses his silky soft touch to deliver some of the more crisp passes of anyone in the upcoming draft. This would be an incredible advantage for any pure scorer that plays on Connolly’s line. Connolly has made his name well known to SMJHL GMs during his final season at Boston College where he posted an impressive 6 goals and 27 assists in 36 games played. His line mates and coaches can never say enough about Connolly’s work ethic and creativity. “He’s always the first one out and the last one off the ice at each practice. That goes double for the film room too.” said Boston College’s Coach Jerry York. “One of the finest young men I have ever had the pleasure of coaching.” That is some high praise for Connolly and it doesn’t stop there. “Nick is an incredible teammate and player.” His senior year line mate said. “You learn quickly with Nick that you always need to have your stick on the ice. He finds passing lanes that others flat out don’t. It is incredible to watch and even better to play alongside.” Connolly will look to leverage his playmaking ability to go higher in the draft than all of the scouts’ projections. He currently has interviewed with a few of the SMJHL GMs before the draft and one of those GMs might look to snag Connolly at the end of the first round, as opposed to the majority of the projections having him fall to the second. Only time will tell at the draft, but one thing is for certain. Whatever team drafts Connolly will be getting one of the most creative players in all the draft. ![]() Registered Posting Freak |
