It has finally arrived, the SMJHL draft. The first step for many young careers starts tonight.

With the SMJHL entry draft set to kick off tonight, the prospects who have been working towards this event are left to wonder if they have done all they could to make sure that they are picked by a team that will help them get to their ultimate goal, the SHL.

Whether you’re a prospect who has been slated for the first round or a prospect who is just hoping to get selected, today you may have draft day jitters. Players who excelled in the prospect showcase must be feeling pretty good going into today, players from the Vipers and the Wranglers who have made it to the finals of the showcase have one more chance to impress, where as the players who lost out in the first round or the players who weren’t able to show their stuff in the showcase at all are left to wonder, what if I had one more game to show what I can do…

The top four point getters in the Prospect Showcase round robin tournament all dressed for the Vipers, Tedisko, Adebowale, Kandinsky lead the showcase in points for forwards and their teammate, David Hines, lead all defenders with 23 points. Will they be able to maintain these numbers after they get drafted? Was the showcase misleading with all of these talented prospects playing together? Only time will tell.

Most of the posted mock drafts have listed three players consistently at the top three, Travis Bitties, Oliver Cleary and Kaspars Claude. Has the showcase changed that? Have the Viper forwards shown that they deserve those top spots?

We’ve got a lot of questions here, and luckily we won’t have to wait too much longer to get the answers.

Tonight’s draft will end all of the prospects draft day jitters, and they will all start a new chapter in their early careers.
