Welcome to the Montreal Radio Network and as always this is Marty Lange bringing you update from around the legue. Montreal had just finished up a 3 game road trip and won 2 out of the 3 game set by way of shut out. Your favorite Russian Goaltender was busy making the donuts in those outings and unfortunately they were away games causing all of the Militia faithful to miss out on free donuts. Either way it does not matter as the most important things are wins. Montreal fans were happy to see their team back in the city and welcomed them with open arms at the team morning skate. Little kids held up signs for mom and pop in hopes to get free pucks and autographs. I was on hand to see if I could get an interview but the team was focused on getting read for the game against the Colorado Raptors. They beat the Raptors in the last game by way of shut out as we mentioned and the final was 2-0. However, the Militia have vowed to the fanbase not to take this team lightly as they got rocked in the first meeting in
Denver 6 to 3. You can read all about that game if you missed it in the issue of Sports Canada. That's right... Sports Canada! Those people at that fine magazine help to sponsor this program so we have to plug them every chance we get so remember to get your subscribtion to Sports Canada. Now that we have met our obligation to Sports Canada we can continue on with this report.

As usual the the Militia were playing to a sell out crowd as Canadians have nothing better to do with their time and who can blame them when you have a great hockey team in town! The fans settled in as the puck was dropped and the two teams started to get a feel for each other. Jake Peralta for the Raptors got in a cheap shot and was called for roughing at 1:43. Klozoff and Keegan would get things going on this power play as they assisted the sniper from sweden who we know as Kristoffer Svensson! That was his 6th goal on the year and what a beauty it was eh! Colorado would get into penalaty trouble again for roughing at 2:57 but nothing would come of it. The Russian Rookie, Zarley Zalapski would get called for holding and you could clearly see on replay he was holding. Even though Zalapski was upset about the call, replay showed that he was mugging that Raptor! Colorado was unable to convert on that attempt but at 13:14 Crdelli would get his 3rd goal on the season assisted by Juulius and to be honest no
goaltender on earth could have saved that puck from going into the net. A true display of sheer talent by Crudelli! The game would be tied for about the next 4 and a half minutes till the Irish Assasin from the Primary Defense would blast a one timer past Ushakov for his first goal of the season. When asked later about the goal the Irishman said that this was just a matter of time and expect more scoring like this in the future. The first period would end with Colorado taking another cheap shot in the form of a cross check but the Militia would not be able to score at the end of the period nor would they be able to convert at the start of the second from carry over minutes.

However the seond period would see Montreal imposing their will even stronger as Keegan Angello woudl get back to back goals for his 4th and 5th on the year. Skottson, Jaakola and Klosoff would make both goals happen with assists but the Russian Army Defender would get all the way up to 10 assists on the year which is impressive! O'Dowd would get called for an ugly cross check at 9:46 and the Raptors would make quick work of that power play scoring 12 seconds later as Jules Watt would get credited for his 5th on the year but in all honesty it was one of those fluke goals that just happen sometimes. Either way, a goal is a goal is a goal and this would make the score 4 to 2 in favor of Montreal! The last 10 minutes of the second period was boring with no penalties, scoring or anything inbetween and to be honest it was a good time to use the facilities or buy another 15 dollar beer.

Montreal dominated the 3rd period and scored two more on their way to routing the Raptors 6 to 2. Hans Zucker would get his 3rd and the Commander got his 6th as it appears he might be starting to heat up after a slow start to the season in the first 10 games or so.

Now onto the Stats!

Montreal, also known to some as the line abusers or player mis-users out shot Colorado 35 to 12. Keep up that 3 to 1 ratio and I gurantee a cup at the end of the season! The Misusers went 1 for 4 on the power play and the Raptors got 1 out of 2 attempted. The Militia won in Hits. 22 hits for the Militia to 10 for the Raptors. Somehow Colorado won in Faceoffs 41 to 37. Colorado led 7 to 5 in blocked shots but the category you never want to lead in is penalty minutes and Colorado had double the amount to the Militia. 8 for the Raptors and 4 to the Militia.

We are hoping for more action and wins from these Militia and in closing we have to remind you as always... When you go ice fishing, remember to drill the hole in the ice first!
