Agree with your opinions on Manious and John Ross but it has to be said that he played 6/14 seasons as a defender just his player hasn't been up there individually in the regular season and all the other players you mentioned I would have them above him. Hopefully I can see the next Hall of Fame job opening in the future :D

Regarding the Tampering charge. I agree the punishment was too hard. From my POV the within reason makes sense in this instance and it's enough to brake that rule to get punished. Last season the Winnipeg Co-GM made an article saying:

Hey Winnipeg gets better , we need players that fit this kind of criteria the most (without tagging someone specifically and without explaining their playing time and role on the team if they sign and citing reasons as to why they should leave their current team). I think we both can agree that a post like the Winnipeg one is within reason compared to what Daco did.

I, for one, enjoyed the HOF commentary (failed to touch on this during the podcast I just recorded so commenting now, I suck). Was shocked at how much a certain name got thrown around in it, and not the guy you said shouldn't be in the conversation.

See all these teases I'm leaving here to get people to click?!? But seriously.

Still in the middle of listening, but one quick comment. In my view the systemic issue with the HOF is the reliance on award noms and wins. Awards and to a lesser degree points (which are effectively the same thing in this league) are the only things i ever hear referenced by HOF committee members.

Also, Manius played nineteen seasons. The Bojo box has all but one season of his career listed under the wrong spelling and one season under the proper one. @.bojo

Pretty much agree with you across the board on the tampering discussion. We do cover it extensively on our latest as well.

You are losing touch with culture and society. Its called getting old, lol. Join the club

Cheers

What a great name!
Makes me think of Hummus... mmmmm Hummus!!

Trust me nobody remembers anything after enough time goes by.
It doesn't matter if you are in the SMJHL or SHL or NBA or NHL or whatever.
It's difficult to find anyone to tell you who won the last 20 Stanley Cups in order!
Enjoy your time and experiences cause the truth is that most people around you do not care LOL.
The one exception is grudges... people tend to hold onto them for very long periods of time!

We need to try our best to give each other positive reinforcement because negativity will repel new members or interest.

I would be curious to see how you would go about analyzing players from a HOF perspective. I think that no matter what there is no sure-fire way to truly compare and contrast players without some sort of variable that gets lost in the process. Players can earn points more than others based on circumstances beyond their control. Hits demonstrate physicality but how do we determine how much that physicality leads to success? Challenge Cups are a good measure of the proximity a player is to great success, but it being a team award there is a lot of context to try and figure out to what degree a player contributed (and even then we get sent back to the points vs. hits vs. minutes played etc. discussion that we see for career numbers). Who wins certain awards is determined based on the committee at the time. Would we consider All-Star nominations in the same kind of mindset as awards, rendering both of them redundant in a sense? Do we factor in the player's legacy for their team? If so, how do we do that?

This isn't me trying to out-debate you or anything, I am honestly curious for your perspective and if it could be implemented in the HOF in some capacity.
