S50 Draft Media 2X Payout

Here we are on the very eve of the draft and though I intend to write another media piece by deadline, I thought it would be fun to record very last minute thoughts about the draft (and earn at least enough to pay for one training).

I created very early on in the process. In fact, I believe the quarter-finals were just finishing up if I recall. I know the semis were not yet over. So, it has been a long wait. A long, long wait. I wondered how I would pass the time waiting for the big day when the big day had not even been announced yet.

Best thing to do is earn TPE to get a head start on your player and up your draft stock, right? The trouble with that is you can only do activity checks and buy training prior to your draft so that is not really going to keep you very engaged through the week, now is it? I should have created lots of media to make some sweet cash, but I was not sure what to write about.

So, I decided to see if anyone would let me hang out in their Locker Rooms. I started chatting in discord and then PM’ed GMs where I might like to hang out for a while – learning the league and having some fun with potential new teammates. To all the GMs out there, if I did not ask to join your LR, it’s no slight intended on my part. I just knew I could only handle three or four at most and actually be involved.

It seems like it was a new idea as the GMs all wanted to check in with HO to see if it were legal. Well, you can’t tamper with anyone who doesn’t even have another team or contract and so the green light was given.

I first joined the Montréal Militia LR since I know the GM from the PBE. That was a great experience. What a fantastic bunch of guys! I learned a ton about the league and had a ball. I also learned that they were in a drive to eventually win the Cup and that was fun to experience even if not as a member of the team – and I learned that they didn’t have many picks in the draft so it didn’t look likely I’d be going there. But who knows? Maybe I still will as this is being written pre-draft.

Then I heard about good management in Colorado so I struck up a conversation with the GM there and joined the LR. Turns out my information was good – excellent people running the team and skating for Colorado. And they had third pick in the first round. Now, I never imagined going that high, but hey, you can dream, right? But after the recent trades, it looked pretty clear that I would not be going to the Raptors. I mean, do they even have an S50 draft choice left? But they are really set for the next few drafts!

I also joined the Anaheim and St. Louis LRs based on conversations springing from their scouting. They were both great as well and have picks throughout the draft. With the latest blockbuster trade with Colorado, Anaheim really has picks, but again, they are really high so….

I’m going to have to make a part 2 to this or just fold it into another media piece as the point is to post this PRE-draft.

But I’ll end simply by saying that I am very excited – over the moon really – for this, my very first draft in the SHL! No matter where I go, I am ready to hit the ice and get my career going!
