Fresh off a 3 point night against Carolina, and an All-Star Game appearance that included scoring the game winning goal, Eric Hudson of the St. Louis Scarecrows continues to build on a remarkable year. In a 7-1 drubbing of Anchorage, Hudson scored his first career hat-trick.

The first goal came with the Scarecrows short handed. Kriss Darzins won the defensive zone face off and tossed it back to the Anchorage zone. Hudson won the puck in a battle with Alexei Petrikov, banked it over to Darzins who immediately sent it back to Hudson on the give and go and tapped home for the goal. That goal gave the Scarecrows a 2-0 lead halfway through the first period.

The second goal came late in the first period one a good cycle from the St. Louis second line. William Lockwood passed it down to Grapefruit Lizard in the slot, who tipped it on goal. The initial try was stopped by Anchorage goalie Sergei Potinov, but Hudson scooped up the rebound and was able to slide it home past the sprawled Potinov.

Early in the second period, rookie Juli Schneider scored her second goal of the night, her first had opened the scoring to give St. Louis the early 1-0 lead.  This prevented Hudson from getting a natural hat-trick, but it gave St. Louis a 4-0 lead and now two players with 2 goals each. Who would be the one to make the hats rain down?

Just a minute later, Hudson did all the work himself to make sure he got that third goal.  First, stealing the puck from Bork Lazer, firing a slapshot that got tipped in front and then saved, picked up his own rebound, got hit by Lazer, lost the puck momentarily but then out worked Thorbjorn Gunnerson to get the loose puck and fired in and scored.  The St. Louis crowd went bonkers as the hats rained down. The Scarecrows were cruising with a 5-0 lead at this point.

Anchorage would eventually score and break the shutout, but St. Louis would go on to win the game 7-1.
