Today's draft profile is on William Hunt, a center from the United States of America. The first time player of user DachtorFeelgood.
Hunt is a big bodied forward measuring in at 6'2", 210 lbs, and has shown the ability to put that frame to work. The center is definitely a product of his environment, coming from Quincy, IL in the heart of the Midwest. Hunt stated in pre-draft interviews that the discipline and responsibility preached to him growing up had a huge impact on the way he approaches the game of hockey. Anyone who has watched even a single shift of this kid's game can see that dedication to his own zone is a focal point. Hunt's high school coach praised him, stating that he rarely sees young players putting in so much work when it comes to killing penalties and putting team play over his own stats. Stats are where one could see a weakness in Hunt's game. The young forward has shown to be a pass first type player in the offensive zone, and it's obvious that he feels more at home in his own end. Now don't let that scare you away from Hunt, as he's shown the tools to become an elite two-way center with the right coaching. Just be mindful that the offense won't be there immediately. From what Hunt's party has revealed, multiple teams in the SMJHL have reached out with interest in regard to the upcoming draft. It'll be interesting to see where Hunt ends up going, and he could really end up being a steal if he falls to the middle to late rounds. This SMJHL draft should turn out to be an exciting one, especially with two expansion teams, Quebec City and Nevada, making the first rookie picks in franchise history. With plenty of recreates and true rookies, it'll be a fun night for all. (330 words)
