The Hamilton Steelhawks have appealed their penalty down to the forfeiture of GM pay for this season, essentially a $2,000,000 fine.

I’m going to do my best to explain this, but honestly it took Leafs and I a bit to understand exactly what had happened. Luckily Hallsy’s appeal was very detailed and went through everything extensively.

Basically, Hamilton was never over budget in the sim. There was a discrepancy between the sim roster and the listed budget, such that one roster filler (Outlaw) was listed in the sim, but another (Boyle) was listed in the budget due to a roster change in preseason. Because of that the team was never over the salary cap.

Because there was no issue with the team’s budget, the team will not receive a budget fine next season.
