Andrej Doskocil, the career (ignore that I have one more season thanks)
#1

So, my first player is gone. Or well, almost, considering he will play his last season, but I am not going to really count that in because I will forget about doing this and that’s gonna suck. Anyway, he has to this day managed to play 11 SHL seasons, alongside 3 SMJHL ones we don’t care about, so let’s put those into numbers.

Interesting thing about Doskocil is obviously the fact that he has never even been nominated for an award. His only piece of hardware is the S52 Challenge Cup that he has won with Manhattan, but other than that, he has at best got a few scattered votes for the Bojo Biscuit award and that’s about it.

In total for his 11 seasons, he has managed to play 648 games, in which he scored 234 points, 49 of them are goals. He managed to cross 30 points in a season twice (S56 and S57), and has been over 20 points another 2 times (S52 and S55). It’s pretty clear that if you cross those seasons with the rest of Manhattan, he has had his best seasons right around the best seasons for the rest of the team, even though he has definitely had better seasons since the FHM swap (definitely thanks to how DFDs became a bit more viable in the new sim, making it a valid choice for a player). But, he was never built to score points, so let’s check some other information.

We love some physicality don’t we, so let’s talk about that. Within 11 seasons, Doskocil managed to block 1378 shots with the peak of 307 (S59), hitting the 200 mark once more (S58) – again, proving that SBs tend to go up for teams that are not that great, as these were the 2 Manhattan slump seasons. You like hits more? Well, in 11 seasons there were 1647 hits delivered by our fellow Czech defenseman, with peak of 303 (S54), breaking the 200 mark once more (S53). The eventual lowering of the hit numbers was a coaching choice more than anything, since hit numbers like that create a LOT of PIMs.
Speaking of PIMs, Andrej has spent 653 of those in the sin bin, peaking at 145 (S54, same as the hits peak), and going over 100 once more (S53). Here we can see an interesting trend though – the average of PIMs for STHS for Doskocil is somewhere around the 50 per season. In FHM? Ignoring the S53-54 seasons, it is about 20. Clearly, old age made Doskocil a bit more careful – or FHM gives coaches a bit more control about how many PIMs players take. Whichever you prefer more.

Everyones favourite stat, plus/minus, is something that I will just briefly fly over. Career total is a +87, with the best seasons in S55/56/57 (32, 33 and 34 respectively, very nice), only 4 out of the 11 seasons are in the minus, 2 of them are a -2 (S51 and S58), then there is Doskocil’s rookie year (-15 in S48), and finally the S59 with the horrible -32.
That would be it for the stats you can track both in STHS and FHM. The last thing I could care about for a DFD are the FHM only TA and GA stats. Over his career, he has 178 of the former, and 183 of the latter, for a difference of -5. Best season for TAs was S59 (34), crossing the 30 mark once more in S57 (33), for GA, the worst year was S57 (36), followed by S58 (34). Compared to the elite players, it’s a lot more even distribution, but considering the player, you can’t expect much of a puckhandling provess out of a guy that scores under 10 goals a season even if he has 66 games for it.

Putting together his best stats for a single stat line would look like following:
8G (57)/ 24A (56) for 32 points
303 hits (54), 307 SBs (59), 15 PIMs (56) (or 145, I guess depends on the viewer, those are from S54)
+34 (57) with 18 GA (53) and 34 TA (59)

Writing it out like that, I think it would be a decent season to compete for a Biscuit award with the sheer ammount of hits and blocks, and with a decent GA/TA difference, but yeah, Doskocil was never a super elite player and his numbers do reflect that a little bit. After all, he only peaked at barely above 1600 TPE, so he was never really going to be a mindblowingly amazing guy. But, I have to say, it was a fun journey to have, and even with some hardware missfortune, Andrej Doskocil has surely made a stamp into the history books, even if it is for his sheer stupidity of throwing himself into the pucks and into people rather than being flashy and fancy with the puck.

Awesome career CoA. A staple on Czechia and Manhattan's defense, exactly the guy you want out there defending a lead with 2 minutes left. Retirement well deserved \_ \_ \_
