Given the previous Pro Days held by fellow SMJHL teams the Outlaws & Scarecrows, the Colorado Raptors organization felt it was only right to showcase their S60 rookies to the league. Given the new update scale all these attributes are subject to change, but I figured this article could give a little insight to each Raptors rookie.

A top three pick in the SMJHL draft Gonzo Gobbl..gobbledy...gobbledygook (legendary moment in SMJHL draft history lol) has lived up to his high draft expectations of far in his career a top TPE earned for the entire class. Stuck on the 4th line with fellow defensive minded rookies didn’t help his offensive output but still scored 7 goals with 9 assists in only 11:01 ATOI. Very active in the LR & on the site whichever team at the top of the SHL draft will be lucky to grab him.

SMJHL Draft Position: 3rd Round 30th overall

One of the top 3rd round picks in the recent SMJHL draft Eric Tokke is a raw bulldozing winger with a huge frame that matches his tenacity. His offensive game needs refinement recording just 4 goals and 6 assists. But his raw physical & defensive talent stood out in his first season, recording 51 blocked shots(8th on the team) & 60 hits (12th on the team) in just 8:57 ATOI (tied for last on the team). He also showed his willingness to stick up for his teammates, totaling 4 fights on the season while the rest of the team combined had 2. Very active in the LR (sometimes too often asking stupid newbie questions) & on the site, whichever SHL team grabs him with have a forward defensive cornerstone for the future.

SMJHL Draft Position: Undrafted

A great in season pickup by the now former legendary GM @Birdman Rickey McDangle went above and beyond what you can ask from any Undrafted rookie. Stepping in right away and playing is tough enough for a UDFA, but McDangle had a even tougher start being thrown into the fire on the 4th line 18 games into the season. Posting 4 goals and 5 assists in just 48 games & an ATOI of 8:57 he showed his capability of improvement at his young age. Not the most active player in the LR but updates weekly and has an impressive bank balance for a player who joined the class so late. Whichever SHL snags him in the later rounds of the draft should be getting a gem. As previously stated it’s hard to ask for more and better progress from any undrafted rookie, but the last player of the Raptors pro day might have been the steal of the entire SMJHL draft.

Before the start of the season the Colorado Raptors knew who their starting goaltender was, SMJHL legend Yanno Rosejac. However, the future in front of net looked bleak, as there weren’t any active backup goalies in the Colorado system. 5 days after the draft the Raptors held an open tryout at the stadium for local players. An unknown prospect hailing from Japan Senji Seteki showed out & management quickly signed him afterwards. A 5-3-2 record for a playoff team would be impressive enough for an undrafted goaltender. But where Seteki really shined was in SV%(.908)& GAA(2.77) finishing 16th & 10th respectively. One of the top TPE earners in the entire class let alone ones that were drafted, Seteki has a bright future in the SHL despite the logjam of goalies throughout the league. Already with multiple jobs around the league & extremely active in the locker room, Seteki will hopefully help bring the Raptors to championship glory before taking his talents to whichever team takes him in the 1st round.
