Season 60 is going to be a different breed of Colorado Raptors hockey. The Raptors are losing captain Ruggsy McOoooh , Jarmo Kekalainen, Ren-Ekelemchi Shimizu-Okoli, and Eero Makinen Jr. all to call ups and age outs. But don't let that get you down, the Raptors brought in a plethora of young talent. Including F Max Manning, D Hans Graf, F Kristián Ženatík, F Gabe-Gooney Waters Harrak, F Donald Trump Jr., and D Jamal Nightingale. This year, the Raptors look forwarding to showing what they can do in their pursuit of the 4 Star Cup. The Troy McClure III Trophy - Awarded to the player that best exemplifies team leadership Winner - Ruggs McOoooh (@Ruggsy) McOoooh is the winner for the second year in a row. He is the definition of a leader. He has helped new rookies get acclimated to the locker room, continued his work as a media grader, helped encourage rookie task completion, and somehow found times to manage the Young Guns in the WJC. The Alexander Zajac Trophy - Awarded to the most dedicated player Winner - Angus McFife XVIII (@micool132) Angus McFife XVIII wants to win the cup. His perseverance to that one goal has led him to winning the Alexander Zajac Trophy. He has been a constant locker room presence, having been recently promoted to a coach in the Colorado locker room. He can add that to his already impressive resume of being an updater and having his very own fan club. The Nick Brain Trophy - Awarded to the top two-way forward Winner - Eero Makinen Jr. (@mcgriddleluver) Makinen Jr is the repeat winner of this award. Last year, the team was pleased that he was finally recognized by the league. Well, this year, he won the Brandon Holmes award for best defensive forward again. He has matured into a prime example of what it means to be a defensive forward. The team looks on with joy as he makes his way into the SHL. The Bo Kane Trophy - Awarded to the top offensive forward Winner - Jarmo Kekalainen (@TheFlash) Kekalainen lead the team in multiple stats, including goals, power play goals, power play points, and shots. To say he was a power house is an understatement. All that work while continuing to be active in the locker room and the community. Honorable Mention - Sonata Diamante (@MattyIce) Diamante was a close second in voting and deserves to be mentioned. He put up 20 goals, 48 points, a +20, and a 16.1% shot percentage. He is yet another in the Raptors long line of offensive juggernauts. The Kristoffer Ruud Trophy - Awarded to the top defenseman Winner - Ruggs McOoooh (@Ruggsy) McOoooh is up for yet another award, this time for best defenseman. This season, he recorded 11 goals, 33 points, a +13, 102 SB, and 112 hits. He provided a great all around defensive and offensive effort for the team this year, on top of everything else that was said about him before. The Aleksandr Aleksandrov Trophy - Awarded to the top goaltender Winner - Yanno Rosejac (@Demolish) Yanno Rosejac wins this award easily. He started 57 games for the Colorado Raptors, winning 30 games and posting 4 shutouts. Rosejac faced a lot of shots this season (1771) and saved a good amount of them (1619). In doing so, he had a 2.74 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Amazing numbers against the barrage of shots faced. Yanno Rosejac also was nominated for the Cedric Robinson Trophy for league best goalie. Just another nod to the season Rosejac had. If this all looks familiar, that's because it is. He has had this level of excellence for what seems like years now. The Cassius Darrow Trophy - Awarded to the most outstanding rookie Winner - Senji Seteki (@Talls) Senji Seteki had a great year as a backup goalie. Though he only played 14 games, he still recorded his first shutout, a 2.77 GAA, and a save percentage of .906. He is active in the locker room and has taken on a number of responsibilities, including site development work, scouting for the team, and acting as a coach in the locker room. He is a great replacement for the soon aging Rosejac. The Zinaida Titova Trophy - Awarded to the Seasonal MVP Winner - Yanno Rosejac (@Demolish) Rosejac was in so many games that it is obvious he deserves this award. He has put his time in the net causing frustrations to teams week after week. On a team stocked full of amazing players, Rosejac stands out. Scottey Crawfling Bowl - Awarded to the Playoff MVP Winner - Ren-Ekelemchi Shimizu-Okoli (@ProjectSaint) Though the Raptors did not last as long as they wanted to in the playoffs, there was one bright spot in Shimizu-Okoli. In the 4 games played, he led or tied for lead in team in goals, assists, points, +/-, even strength goals, power play goals, shot percentage, powerplay time on ice, blocked shots, game rating, and defensive game rating. I would say he definitely deserves this award. Congrats to all the Season 59 Awards Winners!
