SWE 3 (SO) - GER 2

NOR 5 - GBR 4

Team Norway was deadly on the power play as they converted at a 50% rate and outshot Team Great Britain 37 to 32. Team Great Britain needed to control their temper better as they were penalized four times in the game, and that proved to be the difference although they outscored Team Norway at even strength.

USA 2 - AUT 3

A shock result as Team Austria beat Team USA 3-2 in regulation. A two goal second period proved to be the difference, and Team Austria’s young offence peppered USA goaltender Strom Chamberlain with 37 shots.

CZE 1 - FIN 4

Czechia fell 4-1 to Finland as Kaarlo Kekkonen potted two goals and Harry Carpet turned away 32 out of 33 shots that he faced. Team Finland hit a round 50 shots on Team Czechia’s goaltender, and were dominant throughout the game.

LTV 2 - CAN 4

Team Canada opened their tournament with a strong showing, as they beat Team Latvia 4-2 and fired 50 shots at Latvian goaltender Thor Odinson who kept Team Latvia in the game. Both teams didn’t shy away from physical contact, as a total of 18 penalty minutes were awarded between the two teams. A late third period goal from Rotticus Scott would be the insurance goal to Theo Morgan’s second period goal that put the Canadians on top.

JAPAN 4 (SO) - RUS 3

Team Japan beat Team Russia in the shootout as Russian netminder Samat Beibitzhanov nearly wrested victory with a 46-save performance. Team Japan roared to an early lead, but Team Russia scored three goals to turn the tables, including two powerplay goals in the second period. An equalizer from Nicholas Owens meant that the game was going to the extra frame, and Ryuuji Minamino provided the game winning shootout goal from his backhand.

GER 1 - SWE 5

While the last game between these two teams were fairly close, the second game in this set of back to backs was all Sweden. New Swedish transfer Jimmy Wagner scored a natural hat trick in the third period to put the game out of reach for Team Germany, after they drew even early in the third.

GBR 4 - NOR 5

This game was a repeat of the last meeting between the two, as Team Norway had another 5-4 victory over Team Great Britain. A strong third period wasn’t quite enough for Team Great Britain as they fell short of equalizing and forcing overtime.
