A New Journey - Pre Draft
As we embark on a new season and a new sport with our favorite multi sport player around the world, we are going to take a ‘Journey with Johnny’ and see how his first season in a new league turns out. This young Latvian superstar is looking to turn heads not only in the juniors and in the show, but also trying to turn around how people think about the Latvian team. By already joining the Lativan locker room, he is looking to take over this team in the near future and lead them to some victories and hopefully some championships if possible. I know this Latvian team finished last place last season but that does not mean anything to me. I’ve already started talking with some teammates and the consensus is that we are going to try and turn this around quickly, already getting a couple new players to join the team, hopefully staying active. If I was born into another country, I’m not sure if I would be able to put myself on the market as fast, since there is so much talent on these other teams but I guess we may never know unless Johnny eventually wants to change citizenships soon. We may find this out very soon depending on how this season goes for the Latvians. Now let’s talk about the pre draft process for myself, which is nothing new to me by already going through it a couple times at this point in my career. This process has been no different than any other process dealing with scouts and GM’s. Honestly I was pretty disappointed by some of my conversations with some of these teams. Some of these conversations were pretty simple and were just a couple questions and ‘would you want to be drafted by us’. I’m assuming I’m not going to be drafted by these teams since the effort was really not put in by them which is okay, I don’t really want to go somewhere where the effort is not put into my player. Some teams going over the top and having long conversations about random things really peaked my interest whether I get drafted by them or not, it could be a place I would be willing to be traded if that was a possibility. No matter where I get drafted I obviously will be happy. No matter what the scouting process was, I know the holidays have been busy for everyone, but I like the hustle that some of these teams had. It really shows which of these teams were able to get around the holidays and find someone to do the dirty work for them, which is the sign of a good organization showing that you can trust your players and scouts and not just holding all of the power yourself as the GM. Trust is a massive part in leadership and hopefully any team that drafts me is like that! As I embark on another journey, with the draft being tomorrow evening, I’m excited to see which last minute teams message me before the draft. Will it really change where I go in the draft, I’m not sure, but let’s hope I’m not drafted in the last round. Words - 545 |
