Registered S7, S22 Challenge Cup Champion Name: Tim Viola Position: D Birth date: April 1, 1988 Birth place: Reading, Massachusetts Handedness: Right National team: United States Current team: Hamilton Steelhawks Offensive stats PH = Puck Handling: 70 FO = Face Offs: 50 PA = Passing: 75 SC = Scoring: 50 PS = Penalty Shot: 50 For a defenseman, Viola is solid on offense. Now, you won't see him put the puck in the net often, but you should be able to see him dish the rock from the blue line with ease. On top of that, he also is very capable with the puck on his stick and should be able to limit his giveaways. For me, his skills remind me a lot of his teammate, Michael Astorino. Like Astorino, he is solid passing the puck and he minimizes turnovers. For Viola, however, I expect him to score a few goals each season, but not many. Defensive stats CK = Checking: 62 FG = Fighting: 60 DF = Defense: 99 You would be hard-pressed to find a defenseman who is better in his own zone than Tim Viola. He is absolutely phenomenal at defense. He is also not afraid to throw around his body and make some offensive players feel some pain. By the time his career is over, I expect Viola to have a full shelf of awards, especially the Norris Trophy. This kid is destined for greatness with a defensive ability such as that. Athleticism stats DI = Discipline: 65 SK = Skating: 60 ST = Strength: 67 EN = Endurance: 60 DU = Durability: 60 Athletically, Viola is middle-of-the-road. He's well-disciplined, skates averagely, has good strength, is somewhat durable, and has decent stamina. As a whole, there is nothing that really would make a General Manager drool here. However, combined with his offensive and defensive attributes, they help to round out what could be the best defenseman selected in the S7 SHL Entry Draft. As of today, he is my early pick for the Calder Trophy this season. Future As I have mentioned already in this scouting report, I have very high thoughts of Viola and I expect his transition from the Boston Battalion of the NWJHL to the Hamilton Steelhawks of the SHL to be extremely smooth. His General Manager in Boston, Sergei Karpotsov, thinks highly of him as well, which is always a good sign. Viola is a great member of the locker room and is fantastic to play with on the ice. I expect greatness from him and I know that he will succeed. 338 words, 2 pictures
