The Haul For Boyle
#1

Hello I am a user who is always down bad for some cash so I decided to do do an article I have wanted to do for a good bit. In S58 I was drafted to the New Orleans Spectors however in order to get here, there were two trades made in order to build up enough assets to get another first round pick at a high enough spot to select me. the two trades in question. The teams in question who were involved where Chicago, Manhattan and of course New Orleans

New Orleans Receives:
syndicate S58 1st(18th OA)

Chicago Receives:
Specters S58 2nd(25th OA)
Specters S62 2nd* (this would have been S61 if it wasnt a reddit class)
Specters S59 3rd

and

New Orleans Receives:

Rage S58 1st(12th OA)

Manhattan Receives:

syndicate S58 1st(18th OA)
Specters S59 2nd

So the Haul to realisitcally bring me in, was 3 2nd round picks and a Third, I will also look at the 18OA pick just cause but obviously it seems like that pick was only aquired to have enough asset to move up to 12 so I will not hold it for or again my team the Spectors too hard (but the user that Manhatten got was a very good one so ill just talk about it). While i doubt i am considered a max max earner, i believe i have probably done enough to be considered worth of this pick as I have bought into the team and shown a willingness to spend most if not all of my career in New Orleans. I will now look at the picks we got rid of and see where they are TPE wise and if the pick was worth the trade for Chicago and Manhattan

What Chicago Did:

Spectors S58 2nd(25oa) Turned into  Leon Schweingruber @DApolloS at 369 TPE this was a pretty meh pick for a draft that preduced 29 players who are above 900 tpe. This kinda was a nothing pick for Chicago since Schweingruber was not even a high enough TPE to fill in as a filler player for them. Especially with who was taken with their original 18oa Pick

Spectors S59 3rd (39OA) Ok this might be wrong since the pick was listed as a Minny pick originally, but the draft day trade made it seem like NOLA traded 37oa their own pick, and it seems like NOLA used their 3rd in this draft to select Iorek Byrinson, however
with the 39oa pick Chicago picked Josh Jennings @cakequest who peaked at 341 TPE before going inactive so not the best, however since it was a 3rd round pick I wont give them too much grief for it

Spectors S62 2nd (24oa) this pick was traded along side CHI S61 1st, CHI S62 1st, CHI S62 2nd, and CHI S63 2nd for Jukka Timonen @juke from Manhattan, which was a pretty big get from Chicago as juke is 2000 tpe as of this article I will not look at all those picks since thats another rabit hole but I will look at the 24oa pick who was Brady Bertrand @BLBertrand who seems to have capped out at 370 TPE.

What Manhattan Did

Chicago S58 1st (18oa): Tomas Lind @Canadice So i said i will not hold this against NOLA and i wont, obviously from a pure TPE and earning level i was both a safer pick who has still basically kept up with Lind on the earning front. However whenever you are able to draft a replacement to yourself, like JayWhy was able to do with Canadice, that is a massive win, this alone basically shows a greater value for a pick then mine, but of course NOLA knew I was a sure thing LR culture and earning and that I would likely not been there at 18 so it made sense to take me over a new create, but Manhattan probably super happy with how this trade turned out for them

Specters S59 2nd(19oa) : Robert Black @grimreaper while not an Elite earner, this was a pretty solid pick for the Rage, as they got a user who will be above 1000 once they claim TPE, and has a long history in the SHL, apperently first joining in 2012. They might be inactive as of this message, but it seems like they have atleast been on the site in the last week. Either way i am sure the rage are happy to have turned a 2nd round pick into a 1000 tpe player, even if Black does not return

so in the end, seems like the first trade with Chicago did not really positive impact chicago that much as a the only actual active they got through that involved another trade where they gave up 2 more first so that NOLA 2nd was likely not a major part of the deal. Manhattan came out of this with two very solid pieces including a GM so if someone out of the "three" teams involved won it was likely Manhattan, however NOLA and Manahatten are likely ok with how this trade went down as they both got people who will likely be involved with the team for years to come. Chicago definently probably are wishing they could take that trade back as they lossed out on a chance of a good max earning player for a few guys who peaked under 400 tpe,so that is rough for them. but in the end sometimes picks do not work out, 18oa for 24 25 and 39 overall looks more then good on paper, it is just unfortunate that they where not able to draft super well with those picks. In the end all i will say is that the Haul for Boyle was mostly just a bunch of nothingness however it is kinda cool to look at a few seasons after it happened and look at each team. was a fun exercise in research and it is quite funny to me to see that despite how massive the trades felt during my draft stream it is always better to have a good player rather then the idea of a player in a draft pick

If it makes you feel better, we were taking Canadice at 12, just saw an opportunity to gain an asset and still get our guy.

I like this media, though. It's always fun to look back at trades and see how they actually turned out when they're pick heavy.
