We talk about R1c3bowls life basically with his drafts

Here is the transcript lol

Okay, cool. I think we're recording. Yeah, we are. Okay, awesome. So, uh, this is just, well, it's gonna be running or not running Mens Hammers podcast, but he's not here right now. So right now it's me at a rice bowl. We're gonna help make them some money or, or I'm gonna help them make some money. That sounds fun.

I always like money. Yeah. So off the basis of that, um, since Double Media is about drafts, we can talk about your original draft. You can talk about your second draft, and then we can talk about your most recent draft. Of your players while hammers away, and we can talk about that and kind of your journey through the HL in that way.

Okay. Yeah, that sounds fun. Perfect. All right, so what was the first chapter in season 20? Uh, like into the hl or like into the shl? Uh, yeah. Season 20 was my first. Okay, so season 20, season 42, and then season 62. Yeah. I'm perfect. Then. Geez, I know everything about you. I guess , you know better than I do. Okay.

Listen all, all I know is that. Season 20 was a big draft and then season 42 I knew because I, you know, I traded for your old player and 62 cause I traded for your new player, so. Right, right. That's fair. . Yeah, . Okay. So then let's talk about season 21st and then, you know, we can continue off of that. Yeah.

Right. Uh, Season 20, uh, it's one of the first bigger drafts ever in the shl. Uh, it went, it looks like, you know, five good round, which is up to pick 61 in those days because there was only 12 teams, you know, there wasn't, uh, you know, San Francisco and Buffalo and everyone else after that. Yeah, I think, uh, a draft of this size I think was like unheard of at the time.

Uh, uh, I believe so because I think they called. Season, I'm getting this from Rich. They called Season 20, like the first original edit draft, just because of how big it was. And then season 31 was like when they actually did it consistently, you know? Yeah. Season 31. That sounds right. Season 36, season 39, season 43, et cetera.

Yeah, that sounds right. Okay. And then, uh, we can, let's, let's talk about it. Uh, I know I already talked about this on with Rich a while ago, so I should have a spreadsheet with all the points or whatever, if you want to dig into it. Oh, really? That's cool. Yeah. Uh, wait, no, that's season twenties. But, uh, let's talk about, about your player.

You know, Jed Lauren, the Hall of Famer. Uh, originally drafted to West Kendall on 11. Yeah. Um, To be honest, I don't remember, um, being scouted by Wes Kendall. Maybe, like if I did talk to them, it would've been very quick. Um, yeah, nothing memorable because I wasn't. Even like following the draft super closely when it was West Kendall, because I was like, Oh, they're, they're not picking me.

Like, yeah. I, I don't think they were that interested. Um, now considering this was, uh, eight years ago, do you remember who drafted you or, or someone that stood out? Uh, Like who the GM was? No, just like in the draft for like anyone who scouted or like is there any team that like you wanted to go to back then?

Oh, um, I think Texas, I wanted to go to Uhhuh. Um, not because they were good or anything, but like , I just, I spoke to someone on Texas. Yeah. Um, and actually if we back up a bit, um, Yeah, let's back. I went undrafted in the season 19 SMJ gel draft, which, uh, undrafted as in you were eligible but you didn't get drafted.

Yeah, I think I created the day of. Oh, okay. Okay. If not the day before. Like it was very close to the draft. Um, yeah. Stumbled upon the site and it just so happened they were grafting and I was like, I was like, All right. So I sat through that entire thing. I think it was 72 picks. And didn't get picked.

what a great way to start. And then like five minutes after the draft ended, someone from St. Louis messaged me. Yeah. Um, and he, uh, like his player, uh, was. On, um, on Texas Uhhuh, but he was like an alumni of St. Louis, and I think he was still working with like the managers at the time. Uh, so I guess you his name?

Yeah, it was Carls. Oh, it was Carls. Oh, . Yeah. Like five minutes after the draft he messaged me. He's like, Like, Hey, how do you feel about St. Louis? I'm like, I don't really feel anything about any team, but I mean, if St. Louis wants me, I'm there. . Yeah. Um, so I think that was like my introduction to Texas. Um, so I think that's kind of what put the team on my radar.

Yeah. So I hoping to go to them. I also believe that they were, they just want a cup, if I'm not mistaken. I think so. Yeah, because that was back when it was, uh, I think they called themselves the crew. They called themselves something. Yeah. Uh, well the crew I think was a subset of Okay. Users. It wasn't Texas.

Yeah. Um. Texas, I think we're calling themselves like the INGOs. Yeah, something like that. . Um, yeah. Uh, but yeah, I think Texas was on the radar and Winnipeg actually, no, I had a really good conversation with Winnipeg Uhhuh, and it turned out they, uh, they did have a pick. Yeah. Leafs was the manager. Yeah. And we had a really good conversation.

And then at the end of it, he was like, By the way, I don't have a pick but . I'm like, Why are we talking? Yeah. He's like, He's like, If something comes up like. You'll probably be looking at you. I'm like, All right, that's cool. Nothing came up. , Texas won the season after you was drafted, so like season 20 they won.

So it was the, that season when you got drafted? 20 and 21. Okay. So they were definitely a really good team, uh, then, And then They haven't won. Actually no, they did win it. Win in 62. Nevermind. I forgot that FHM exists. But yeah. Okay. So, you know, so you had, you had Winnipeg and you had, uh, Texas, Texas both reach out to, you both didn't have any picks.

Yeah. both reach out to you? I remember both. So that's fun. And, uh, I'm guessing everything was just on, on the site. No. Like Chatsy or whatever. What's that? No chat. See just like every, all communications is mostly on the site when, when Scout. Yeah. I think, um, yeah, it would've been just through like site dms.

Yeah. Um, yeah, I think, yeah. Not even on chatsy, just straight chat dms. Was the site on J or they still on a vision free? No, it was on jy. Okay. Alright. So they already switched to jy. Yeah. Um, I might have the dms. Oh, absolutely. The dms. Maybe I'm gonna check. Uh, I'm technically not supposed to because I'm, you know, not, not in the HO anymore.

But I do want to see, uh, does it go back that far? That's not, that's why I let check, but, Cause that would've been 2017. We moved everything over from chat. So I'm gonna, I'm gonna search up your, your name whenever it loads, but, uh, but that's, that's exciting. So you got drafted by two teams that didn't even have any pigs.

Yeah. Uh, taking a look at the draft, New England had a shit ton of pigs. Uh, do you remember them draft or scouting you at all? Um, Yes. Actually, I think cuz Ace, I think was the manager at the time. Yeah, Ace. Ace was, oh man, that makes me think of two ACE incidents now. When he was like, Oh yeah, yeah, I'm looking at you.

Go ahead. Doesn't draft me. , tell him. So it was this, the New England, he drafted I think two, two people that I. He drafted Sam Samson of, I'm looking at the thing right now, number eight. Yeah. Sam Samson of um, and then

Ben Reed. I think everyone knew him. Uh, he drafted Wickstrom. So like those three dudes like I spoke to a lot. Yeah. Maybe Ben Reed, the least of those three, but WIC and Samsung of. I talk to them every day. Um, and I had a good conversation with Ace too, like he's a very nice guy. Um, and I was super excited to maybe be on the team with him and speaking to like my friends on the site at the time.

They were like, Yeah, yeah, like we spoke to ACE two probably. Good chance. We'll end up there. I'm like, Cool. So here I am thinking, okay, Winnipeg doesn't have a pick, but you know, Leaf seemed pretty cool. Texas. I don't know what their situation is, but they're pretty cool and New England. Pretty cool. So any one of those three, I think would be pretty chill.

And so we're going through the draft and I see like W gets drafted. I'm like, All right, that's cool. I can play with wic. Samina gets drafted. I'm like, All right, that's cool. I can play with him and look. And I'm like, Okay. Uh, New England doesn't have a pick for a while, so Yeah. And I honestly thought like I'd go in the second round just cuz I was undrafted in the J draft, so I was like probably not a first rounder.

So I was looking at the second round, I was like 20th. It's kinda late, but I mean I'll take it if , they have me there. Yeah. Also not interject, but the site dms go back to 2016. Oh no way. Yeah. That's wild. Not back enough to, to get some, some early season, uh, dms. But, but yeah. Anyway, so, So, uh, New England was, was looking at you.

Yeah, well, I mean, I didn't, I wasn't around much longer after the eighth, like the eighth pick, but I mean, I don't know. I felt like I felt a connection there with Ace and it just didn't come into anything. Yeah. Um, I eventually was on New England. I don't know. I think only my second player. Yeah, your second player.

And well now, now you're this player now, you know? Yeah. Uh, and then fast forward like five years and we're looking at the S 62 draft. Yeah. Um, and Ace is again, guess who's in your dms? . Ace is Ace again with all the Winnipeg pigs. Yeah, With all the Winnipeg pigs. And he's like, he's like, um, my talk with him wasn't very long this time.

It was mostly like, Hey Rice, like, I know you, you know me. Like, yeah, this is like, we know, like I know you can build players and you like HL and stuff. It's like, is there. That you have a problem with or blah, blah, blah. Like, you know, the formalities . Yeah. Especially with, especially with the rerate speak, especially like someone like you.

Well, I mean, like, I know you're a second player, you kind of burnt out with them. So, you know, third player could have been more, uh, or hit touch and go, I guess. But, you know, especially for, with like, for like, I mean, like you created Jed Lauren, so like you gotta have some respect on that. Yeah. And I feel like my, my like attitude towards everything has been pretty consistent, even with my second player.

I feel like if someone gets me on their team, they know what they're getting, you know? Yeah. We're gonna write bowl. Yeah. like, like there's no surprises. So my conversation with them for the S 62 draft is pretty short. Um, but I came out of that talk thinking like, all right, win a pig. I can do this. They got a couple, they got a, uh, let's see, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 firsts, you know.

So . Yeah. Seven, Seven Chances. I was like, One of these is gonna be me. And I'm like, you know what? Like my second player probably put a hit in like my draft stock, but people know me for my first player. Your second player was still good. He was good. I was just season 42. Yeah. I was just not like, I should have taken a break.

Yeah. Um. Because my first dude was on the site for 20 seasons. . Yeah. Didn't want a cup though, but he was there. Yeah. That, that hurts . Well, how about your second player then You, Right before we had one. Uh, but yeah, like I was looking at Winnipeg and I was like, they have a lot of picks. Like this is very likely.

Fast forward to the second round and I'm like, Okay, Winnipeg doesn't pick anymore. Like , . And then it's like, Oh shit, where am I gonna go? Yeah. I'm like, I'm like, Am I going third round? There's no way . Yeah. I'm like, What the heck? Ace. But yeah, like twice now. When, uh, Ace has had like a ton of pics, um, in my draft class and just, he was like, Ah, actually, nah, , uh, but it's alright.

I, He couldn't taken you in C 42 too, you know, first overall, Wait, no. Ace wasn't the job at that time. Yeah, the uh, man, I really didn't want to go very high in the season 42 draft just because I knew. For myself that. I might not be around that much. Yeah. Especially cause what you, you were, you're a PhD student at that point, right?

Uh, Master's student. Master's student, okay. Yeah. Like I was just about to start. Yeah. Oh, okay. So that's, it's basically like, you know, how much time do you really have? Yeah. Um, what, And that's, that's also kind of the reason why, because I don't know if many people remember, but I made a new username for that second player, like, Yeah, I wasn't using like the rice bowl accounts.

Okay. Um, I was using another account and I didn't tell people that it was me because I didn't want people to be like, Oh, it's rice, like old draft and quick. Yeah. Um, but I eventually outed myself by accidents, . Of course. Of course. Um, because. I don't know who does it like these days if it, there's like a, if there's people designated to do it.

But there was, when I was in the J um, there was one week where I started the activity thread, activity check thread, and one of the managers was like, This new guy starting the thread. No way. He's new.

Yeah. And then they looked it up and they're like, Yo, Rice, I see you. I'm like, No, . So I, I actually outed myself by accidents before my,

Yeah, I didn't think about that. But. And then Seattle, Uh, Sammy was the manager at the time. Oh, good old Sammy . Um, and he and I, at that point, uh, season 42, like he and I were, like, we weren't super close friends at the time, but like we knew each other pretty well. Um, yeah, from our, Cuz I, my first player was on Seattle.

Um, was there the same time, uh, aqui iqa L or whatever, however you say it. Ial, Yeah. Yeah. Ial. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. His is only good player. Yeah. Um, he, like, he was on there at the same time. So then I knew like right away if, if, uh, New England didn't pick me, then Sammy would just because he knows me. Yeah. And you know, like it was nice that I went second, but I mean, In my head, I was like, This is a mistake.

I mean, to be fair, there wasn't a whole lot of good people in that draft. I mean, they had Ray, who, who was Raven? That was good. Herb Roberts, which is you, Harvey Danger. Uh, who was, who was good? Jordan Von Matt, who I think got up to like 1200 tpa that went inactive. Uh, you got Gecko, who, who's, who's decent.

It's not great. I think it only got to like a thousand tv. Uh, he got ish, actually Ish was a good player. Mm. Yeah. Nicholas Falk, who then turned to, he changed his name, but, uh, it was NJ Bad Apple. He was really good until he retired. Really? Uh, Jesus Christ, who's, you know, Hall of Fame goalie. So I think Te Bay, keeping them trapped, which is annoying.

Uh, Yeah. Oh, uh, David Cash bro, which is, uh, God, Dave, or, uh, he was a jazz. He was, he was really good. Uh, and then after that camera car, the second, Yeah, it kinda falls off. And then that's it. Camera Car ii and, and, yeah. I guess there wasn't too options, but I mean, second at like, at the pick, I was like, yeah, no, I don't know about the Sammy.

Yeah. . You have a 14th you could have used on me. I . That's true, that's true. . Uh, but yeah. Um, yeah, like, I, I just wanna finish up on the season 20. I think we, Oh yeah, yeah. Let's go back. We, uh, jumped round a bit, but yeah. So there were three teams there. I was thinking of. Um, Yeah. And after the New England pick, like when I saw that they didn't have like a pick for a while.

Yeah. I was like, nah, like I didn't talk to these guys like , like Seattle, Calgary, Winnipeg, or West Kendall, Minnesota. I was like, Nah, nah, I didn't, I didn't talk to these guys. So I'm watching, but like I'm not really watching. Yeah, you're refreshing occasionally on the, on the site. Yeah. And then I saw Wes Kendall drafted me and I was.

So shocked. Yeah, like I still remember the feeling. I was, it was more of a disbelief. I'm like, Really? ? , They picked me. I'm like, what the heck? Like what even is West Kendall . Oh yeah, true. Cause it is just in Florida. Yeah, I'm like Florida. Yeah. So, um, that was, that was a big shock and. Fun fact. Um, the, the guy that was drafted after me, Pedro, Yeah.

He and I, he and I had like a real rivalry for, um, the points. For anything really. Like whenever someone would get something, like the other person would be like, Ah, but like, you know, I have this . Oh yeah. For the entire career. It was pretty wild. I guess. Kinda beat you too in the end. Yeah. Just by a little bit.

Just by a little bit. Did we retire the same time? Uh, no, you played an extra season. Ah, dang it. . Yeah. You, he had, uh, 836 points. He had 827 points. So, and unfortunate. But, uh, yeah, it was what it is. It was fun. It was a fun rivalry. You only hit 800 more minutes plate than him, so, yeah. Okay. And I, I also played defense for part of my dude's career, I think, if I remember correctly.

Did you, I th maybe I didn't, Maybe I'm not remembering . Maybe I thought I did. I don't know. It's a long time ago. Yeah. Eight plus or eight years ago. Um, I don't know. I think my dude was more like, if you look at his stat line, like his last stat line, like he was pretty well rounded I think. Like he had a lot of block shots and stuff, um, and points.

Uh, yeah. For, for, for, for a, for, yeah. 311 shots. That's, that's good. And, and CHS stays, uh, 336 goals. 491 assists, uh, plus 1 49. So yeah, like I remember after I retired him, I was, Look, I was comparing cuz I think I. Retired at like 10th most points all time or something like that. Something that range. Yeah. Um, and I remember comparing his like other stats cuz I was like, 10th points is pretty good.

Um, and I was like, but I also played a lot, like for a long time. So I looked at like the other stats, I'm like, you know, defensively he was pretty good compared to like the other like scores. So I was like, Paul fame is amazing. And back then, um, you know, getting to a thousand games, you know, it's kind of a big deal.

I mean, yeah. Uh, when I retired there was only, there was less than 50 people that played a thousand games. When I retired Thomason. So, so for you when he retired in 42, uh, I'm gonna say like 20 people. So you know that that's a rare breed, but then you, you know, in your draft class you also had fucking Christian Erickson and uh, Ni Paterson as well.

Yeah. That, um, that draft class was pretty crazy. Um, like the depth of that draft class was really a lot of Hall of Famers, a lot of Hall of Famers, a lot of Hall of Famers, a lot of like, Actually can members, any guess All the Hall of Famers Hall, Um, okay. I'm, there are like, am I allowed to look? Am I allowed to look through the look at the draft?

There are 12. Okay. So I'm gonna go bojo biscuit. Yeah. Easy. Like that's, that's easy. Um, who else? From here. Yeah. Nathan Russell's gotta be one. If I'm one. Yeah. Yeah. There. Let's call it that. Let's call it that. And you, So that's for Ben. Uh,

Ben Reed. Ben Reed. No, I mean, let's get, uh, Erickson and Nicholas Petterson outta the way as well, since those are obvious. Okay. And, and Pedro. Sit, Sit, Sit. Uh, SOEs. Yeah. SOEs. So that's, that's six. So you just need six more? Six more. Wow. Only, only one goalie, I believe. Here, let me see who, who even here is goalie.

First round. I don't see a goalie. No goalies in there. Second round, uh, goalie was drafted late. Second, third round. LAX is a goalie, but no way. He's a hall of famer. No. Um,

let's go read. He played on San Francisco, I believe. So late. We're getting late here. I skip. Oh, Tanner. Yeah. Jacob Tanner. Yeah. Yeah. Fourth round. That's pretty crazy. Yeah. Uh, yeah. Nicholas Henderson was captain in the fourth round too. Yeah, that's wild. Fourth round hall of famer. That's ridiculous. Uh, wait, so how many is that?

That's seven. That's seven. There's five more. Are you kidding? ? Uh, hold on. Let me see how many more. Uh, one, two. Two more, which after in the first round. Two more. Um, Did we say Friedrick Mueller? No, that's, that's the, that's another one. Yeah. He was a good player. Um, who else? Uh, Berg maybe. No, that's Berg. Oh, really?

No. You're missing a, just a obvious one if you look at the draft. An obvious one. Yeah. Who the heck is obvious on here is wic obvious ? Uh, yeah. Chuck Goody. Yeah. Okay. Uh, and then you all, I'm just gonna say the rest. You have Jackson Roger Rogers Tanaka. Yeah. Yeah. JT was good. Uh, Barney Stinson and Griffin Simmons.

Oh. Blues or bluey. That's cool. Yeah, so, so that's those, the players that I was, that's the most out of any draft class is, is 12. I didn't know Griffin made Hall of Famer. Uh, I was after me. Uh, He must have retired before I did. That's a good question. Uh, Season 34 class. Yeah. So, Oh, so that's

huh uh, 650. 658 games. Uh, 663 points. Oh, he has a challenge. Cup two, All two. First Star or first Allstar? Two third. All star two. Two, uh, RA off trophies. A Mexico Namo. That makes sense. Yeah. Oh yeah. It was Blues, Blues' player. Not Blues fan, but the original Blues. Yeah. Blues Boy, I think. Yeah. Blues Boy. But now it just goes by Blues.

I don't know if he's still, he's still active. Oh, he's still on. Uh, he had two players one season, 53 that Sammy drafted, but then he went inactive and then, uh, Uh, Rocko Bernie as well, but he also went inactive. I'm not familiar with that one. He had more than two players because I remember teasing him about his multi, that he had

Um, I don't remember if it was just one multi or two, but I remember like laying into him a lot. Like, you know, we were friends. Um, but like, I, like I brought it up for a while after . I remember he must have had two, cuz I think I was like, I said something like, really like, like one multi wasn't enough for you.

but I dunno. I think he was like, I don't think he did anything malicious with it. I think he was just like enjoying having players. Yeah. Um, but you know, that's obviously a thing you can't do, but Yeah. well not if you don't get caught. Well, yeah, . Um, yeah, I think. Keys like, cuz there were, I feel like mals were a bigger thing back in the day.

Oh yeah, 100%. You don't really see Mals nowaday day. Yeah. Like I remember like, uh, there were some people where, especially one in particular that like, I just get really annoyed with when I saw like the multis, uh, What's that, sorry? Ask pancakes. Pancakes. I'm not familiar with that one. Okay. Anyway. Uh, who?

Oh, wait, no, no. I do remember that. Username. Yeah. No, but that's, no, that's not who I'm thinking of. Unless, Who are you thinking of? I was thinking of Quinn.

I don't know. Quinn Really? Quinn had like seven . That's really funny. And the reason like I remember him exactly was because, um, I drafted one of them when I was Colorado's manager. Yeah. And like I remember checking, but I guess I didn't check like properly because I used like my, I think it was my first rounder and ended up being a Quinn multi.

I was so mad. . Yeah. Aw man. But yeah, like, I don't know, it's kind of, it's kind of weird, but also fun like just.

What's up? Uh, I think your mic cut out.

Oh, okay. Oh, right. You back? Yeah. Yeah. Did I cut out? Yeah, your mic cut out. Uh,

Uh, I think it cut out again. . Uh, one sec. Yeah. Yeah, you're fine. Oh yeah. I think it might just be an internet thing. Oh, maybe. But you're saying you drafted on the Quinn guy? Uh, Yeah. Um, yeah, I don't know. It was just, you know, cuz at the time when I was managing Colorado, uh, like we were going through a rebuild process.

Yeah. Um, and I forget what his, I think his name was Colton Snow . Um, and I had a good conversation with him, like, yeah, like we can definitely make this dude a big part of the team. We drafted him first ground and um, Or whatever my first pick was. And yeah, only to find out it was a multi, I was like, Man, I'm so over this

Uh,

yeah. I think, uh, one of the things I remember about Griffin Simons was, His multi and me teasing him. But yeah, I didn't know he was a hall of famer. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Uh, I remember Halsey had a, a multi back in like 2011 or 2012. Oh really? Yeah, he got punished for it, but you know, Halsey was also like 15, 16 at the time.

So yeah, a lot of, It's funny because like a lot of the members on the site, like. We've seen a lot of them like grow up, grow up. You, you grew up. Yeah. Well, I mean, I was already like, I was in university when I started, but, uh, yeah, I mean, yeah, I was too, but you know, I graduated, you know, I have a real job now, but, you know.

Yeah. There's a lot of people like, uh, Blues fan. He, he's in college though. . Yeah. That's insane. Yeah. That's, that's weird. . Um, yeah, he was like, what, 14 when he joined? 15? Yeah. Sammy was like that too. He joined when he was 13 or 14, which is crazy because when I was 13 I wasn't on like , I was not online like that.

I was like going on forums, . I was barely on YouTube when I was 30. . Yeah. Oh man. Uh, Yeah. That's weird. Blue fan is college. Yeah. Yeah, first year. First year is in college. That's crazy. Yeah. Oh yeah. Okay. So that's, that's season 20. That's fun. Uh, yeah. Season 42. We kind of already talked about that one. I could talk about some more.

I mean, like, you know who, who scouted you from there? You know, obviously you have Seattle season in 42. I don't remember who scouting me for that one. Um, yeah.

Yeah, I have no idea who scouted me, if I'm gonna be honest with you. Um, Seattle didn't, Seattle didn't even scout me because like yeah, you would say I was already in the, like in the friend group at the time, I think, Oh, season 42, like around season 40, maybe a little earlier, like that's when Discord was starting.

Kickoff Inhl. Yeah. Um, so I was already in like, The, It wasn't the Seattle Discord or May may have been, but I remember being in a Discord server with like a bunch of Seattle, No, I think it was a Seattle Discord. They like, I just never left. Um, so I was like, I was already friends with them and talking with them, so they didn't even have to scout me.

I actually didn't want them to draft me that high, but , yeah. Um, Yeah. So I didn't really have a talk with them about that. Um, yeah, I don't know who would've, I, like, I have no idea who reached out to me for that draft. Yeah, that's fair. But like, like you said, with uh, With discord, now you have, uh, you know, the, the birth of, of like the, the kind of like the new era of the shl where things are starting to get more offsite?

Yeah. Like it's a big shift. Um, like everything's discord driven. I remember, um, during that like transition period, it was a pretty long transition period, but I remember like some of the older. Users on the site. Like I was kind of hesitant to really, um, move to Discord because I know like some of the older people didn't use Discord at all.

Like, like I remember Slappy, I think wasn't on Discord for a very long time. Yeah. Um, you know, he's old, an older dude. Yeah. So I thought, Oh, did he? That's cool. He went a bug. Oh, that's, that's cool. Um, yeah, just like quick tangent. I think their podcast, I probably listen to almost everyone. Oh, they have a new one out, so no way.

Is it still sloppy hour? Yeah. Oh, that's sick. I'll check it out. Yeah, you kinda have to Now I didn't even know that he was back . Um, but yeah, see, see, see, this is the issue now. Like I don't really go on the site as much as I used to because like, , I mostly just talk to the teams that I'm on now. Yeah. And like everything's on this court.

And then you only go on the site to do like the PTs and the acs and the stuff you kind of need to do. Cause like disc court kind of like solved the, the communication aspect of it. Yeah. But now there's also like this thing where I don't really know what's going on on the site. . Like ? Yeah. Like it's, it's a different, like it's completely different, um, in my opinion, like,

Yeah. I'm rarely ever on, like, whenever people talk about like, Oh, something's happening on the side. I'm like, Really? Like, something's . Like there's, there's stuff to talk about . Uh, but yeah, like, um, yeah, I don't know. I, I remember like the season 42 drops, I think I associate with like the start of. Using Discord a lot, which is a pretty then pretty cool like landmark I guess, or, Yeah.

And then you also have the, A switch from JY to, to another one that we're on now, next season, 43. Yeah. To the actual website. Yeah. Which is, you know, both two pretty big changes was the discordant and this cuz Jason, uh, went down. Because I, I believe I, from what I heard from Teddy, you guys were the most like active community like Jay Inc.

Oh, really? Was crazy. Yeah. And, uh, and they just couldn't handle handle the shl. I remember this site crashed a lot, . So, uh, so they were trying to find other options. You know, Teddy did the, the amazing work of switching everything over. And then, you know, that's when I joined. I joined literally like the, the day or two after, uh, the website came up.

Cause of the season 43 Reddit draft. Oh, okay. Yeah. Interesting. So I never experienced, uh, HL Chaser. Yeah. The, uh, the site crashed a lot, I remember. Um, and I guess you probably weren't there that since Discord was already like, starting up when you were there. Yeah. Discord was already in place. Uh, so you didn't like live through the, um, Did you have team locker rooms still?

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. We still had team locker rooms. We talked but they weren't like, Yeah, we, we mostly just voted for captains there. That's it. Okay. We didn't really talk there a lot. I think I remember like my first or second year we kind of used it cuz you know, we don't have Vancouver at the same time.

Yeah. Yeah. You one of those that, that that great Vancouver team. Yeah, those are pretty solid team. Yeah, no, I was talking with Adam the other day. It was just like, you know, the, the tight knit knit locker room, especially when we won, you know, it was a great time. Yeah, I think that was probably one of my favorite teams.

Um, to be honest, my second favorite team after, uh, Manhattan won where we won. Or Will I won? Yeah, that was . . I didn't win anything with Manhattan. You could have . Man, missed opportunities everywhere. , . I remember, I think thinking about that, um, I feel like West Kendall won. A challenge cup pretty soon after I retired, my first player.

Cause I remember talking to Jr, who I'm also super close with. Yeah. Um. I was like, Oh wow, you really waited for me to retire to win . Yeah. Cause uh, you retired what season? 40. Season 41. And that's when we, Kendall actually began to, what began to win? Yeah, they, they won. Yeah. I think I retired season 40 and they on season 41.

That again, of the cars, Of course the player. I guess that's, Yeah, I remember. I remember Teeing JR. Really. Wow. Like you really waited

Oh, that's crazy. Uh, yeah. And then we have the season 62 draft, which happened. Yeah. For your most recent player and hopefully very long career player on New England specifically. Think I'm hoping, um, Yeah, I think going into this draft I didn't really like other than like I wanted to go on the Winnipeg just because Ace and I had a talk.

Yeah. . But other than that, like I didn't really care who drafted me or what team I played on. Um, I think. For the teams that did reach out to me, I was pretty much just like, um, I just want like a group that's chill. You know, Like I've been around for a long time and I just want like that like. Tight knit group feeling.

You know, like I don't really care about the other stuff. Um, cause I feel like, I mean, when I was a manager and stuff, that was always the thing that I cared most about. Like, I feel like if the group is always like, happy hanging out and talking like, The rest will follow. Yeah. Like everything will just happen.

Yeah. You're, you're starting from, from the ground up in, in that sense, where it just like, you know, as long as everyone's good, you know, people will ask, ask out, and then people you know will, as long as you trust the GM as well, you know, they'll make the right moves and stuff, then generally things will work out.

In terms of, in terms of. . Yeah. So like, I remember like, people would ask me like, Oh, like, um, what are you looking for this time around? Like, it's your third player, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, you know, I, You haven't won a cup yet. Yeah. , you know, like, why is this one gonna be the one to win a cup? I'm like, Man, I don't know.

I'm just here. Talk to people and have a good time. , give me a cup. Someone please. Yeah, I think in five years you probably, probably are the longest user without a cup that had like consecutive players. I, I would be curious to see like who else is on that list. Uh, I imagine I wouldn't, Interesting. I don't know who would be on the list.

I. Uh, you're still not longer than Tampa Bay's drought. AK Seattle's drought. Cause Seattle hasn't want to cup yet, so you're not at that level yet, but you're probably the longest user that, that has not want to cup. That's pretty wild. If I had to take it. Guess just because of people who were, You gotta think people who were, you know, been around for that long.

And, uh, and had, you know, good players and had player, you know, play with longevity. You know that there's not a lot and also there isn't, you know who then who also, you know, didn't want to come. Yeah, I think, uh, well it's still pretty early for this third player, but my first two players are definitely like solid dudes.

Yeah. Which I thought would win something. Um, I mean, the second dude did win the four star cup. Yeah. Which was like my first with, with Vancouver, first win of anything . Oh, okay. Okay. So I was a part of that. And then I traded you right before Manhattan won a cup. . . Oh, it's so sad. Yeah. I still never want a challenge cup.

Oh, it's unfortunate. I Oh, it was, it was you and, uh, James Deacons that, that, uh, we traded away. What did you get? Like, do you remember? Uh, I can, Off of you for Game Z and it was just a third just because, uh, he was like at 600 cp. But I, I did wish we got him a cup as well, cuz he was such a good, you know, such a good guy from Manhattan.

Uh, but for you specifically, who was your, what was your player called? Ah, Roberts. Uh, let's see.

Uh, I know we, we acquired you for a third, a fourth and a second, which was a great trade. And then we traded you away for a second and a third. The third became nothing. But then we traded that second to Tampa Bay for uh,

uh, I don't know what we trade it away for. I do not have that stack like check. Uh,

did I not record it in Tradeo series? It looks like I didn't. I don't think I did. Which is unfortunate cause I should've. So I don't really know what, uh, what we got for you, but probably just didn't turn into anything

We trade you to Chicago who also want to cup without you.

Actually, let me, let me check. Uh, let me check when you were tired versus when they want to cup to make you more depress. I retired in, uh, season 55. Season 55, Okay. They traded me in 54 uhhuh and they won a cup in. Uh, not 56, 57. So a little bit. Little bit. All right. So not, not not, you know, not immediately after.

I just did a like, quick count of how many seasons I've been on hl. Yeah. And that's my adding is right. It's around like 37 seasons. Uh, that sounds about right. Excluding J Seasons. So like, that's just, just like in the hl. Yeah. So 37 seasons, no cup . That's pretty, that's wild. That is wild. Well, hopefully, you know, New England can, can get you a cup there, you know, man.

Uh, I've been waiting like real life years. Yeah.

You know, we have some others waiting for a cup still. Uh, maybe I forget. Uh, actually, other than first gens already want a cup? Well, no, they already, already must want a cup already. Um, already he must of, Cause he was on West Kendall for a while. He must have. I can't say for sure. I'm gonna ask him. Wait. No, I can, He should have it on his forum.

They should, He should have gotten it. So I'm gonna check that real quick. But, you know, you know, this season we brought in you, we brought in already and then we signed, uh, we signed Levi did as a free agent. So, you know, we're getting, we're getting stacked up. Yeah. I was, uh, I was super surprised to see Artie in the, uh, New England Discord when I joined.

Yeah. I was like, I was like, Wait a second, . Cause I didn't know anything about, like, I knew I was gonna get traded. Um, But I didn't know like what the deal was gonna be or anything. And I saw 41 4 cups, by the way. Oh, he's one with New England in 23. One with Manhattan 34 and two with West Kendall. Geez. Yeah.

So you got some catching up to do dude's a pro. Yeah. So yeah. Actually let's, let's talk about me trading for you. I mean, uh, you know, I message you quickly after toes put you on the block. It was super quick actually, because he messaged me saying like, Oh, we're gonna probably have to do a rebuild. So unfortunately, like you're probably one of the ones that are gonna leave just because it makes sense to.

Put you up. Yeah. That's like no hard feelings, like it is what it is. Um, then soon after that he was like, All right, so I have an offer. Or like I'm talking to someone already. I'm like, Wait, what?

lo and behold it's me. Yeah, he's like, he's like, Yeah, Luke doesn't like playing around like trying to get something done. I'm like, All right, cool. Yeah, and you know, we talked about, you know, the future or whatever, and you said, you know, it was cool. , you know, and, and I try for you. Yeah. It happened so quick.

Did, uh, did any other teams reach, reach out to you, you know, from, from ? Um, one other team. I know of one other team. Yeah. Um, and they seem to want me, like legit want me. Yeah. Um, but I think what team was it? Uh,

Philly, maybe Philly. That makes sense. Yeah. Uh, wait, let me check. The, uh, , Not Philly. Not Philly. Was it like Toronto or No, definitely not Toronto. Uh, Montreal. Oh, okay. Montreal. Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah. But I think you were just too quick. I was too quick. Plus I gave you a good pitch. Plus you liked me enough.

Yeah. Like it was all, Yeah. Cause you know, I was talking to Toast and he was like, Yeah, so Rice, Rice really liked, uh, you know, my pitch or whatever. I think it would be a good fit. And toast was like, Uh, we're gonna give him some time. And then like two hours later he is like, All right, uh, let's make a deal.

And then I was like, Okay, cool. Uh, I want to try to get like another forward cause I need him forward. So like, I tried a couple people and then I talked to Artie finally. Artie liked where, where it was going. So then I cheered for both of you. Yeah, I didn't know Artie was, uh, Also going to be traded. Like, I thought it was just gonna be me.

Like Yeah. Cause I was, I wasn't sure, like I didn't really ask like what Toast was planning. I just knew rebuild, but I didn't know how much he was going to like shed from the team. Yeah. Uh, so when I saw Artie in New England, I was like, has he always been here? Or like . Cause I think we joined the Discord before the.

Yeah. Yeah. Before it was actually public. Yeah. But it was privately good. Yeah. So I wasn't, I wasn't sure like why Artie was, I was like, Is he, was he here before? ? , Yeah. Wait, Artie's here. But yeah, and then I saw the trade. I'm like, Oh, okay. Yeah. And it was actually for both of you guys. Yeah. That's cool. Um, yeah, I've known Artie since.

Season 19. Mm-hmm. . That's crazy. Yeah. We go way back from our first players. Yeah.

But yeah. Uh, so yeah, that's basically the, the life of, of Rice Bowl right there. Yeah. Lot of drafts, lot of ups and downs. Three drafts, 37 shl Seasons, zero cups. Uh, Hall of Fame though somehow. Hall of Fame, probably over 1300 points from all your players. Probably 1400 point. Yeah, something like that. Uh, Cause Herb did damage, but, you know, not, not damaged.

Like Jed. Yeah, Herb. Herb was just a casualty of my being tired of hl. Yeah. Actually, let me, let me, let me take a look at a herb at his points. Uh, where the fuck is it? Here it is.

Let's see,

I think in my last two seasons with, uh, New England, I think that's when my activity kind of started going down. Yeah. And then they also didn't have room for you, so that's why we, uh, we trade it for you. For New England or for Manhattan, and that's why we got you for cheap. I remember going to Manhattan thinking like, Oh, like this, Is it

Like this is, this is the team. But then it wasn't the team. . Yeah, it was the team after I left , , . But I remember. being excited about Manhattan and then just after leaving the team being like, Oh, well, I was hoping like it would've been different. Yeah. Also, you had 393 points in 600 games play, so that's pretty decent.

Not too Shay, not too shabby. Yeah. Not too bad for, uh, semi-active for almost half of that . Yeah. And then now with, uh, what's your guy's name? Uh, Bgy. Yeah, Bo Bogie, whatever his name is. Uh, he's uh, actually, what was the dad last year? I don't, I mean, I defense when you're first defenseman, so, Yeah, last, last season I think was a down season points 41 points.

That's a down season, I mean, Oh yeah. Oh yeah. 48 points I trended downwards. Jesus Christ. Right. You might have a terrible season . Cause all of our defense does not seem to score, but hopefully Jeff will, will. I mean, we also just didn't score a lot in general, so, you know, hopefully, you know, with more goals, gets more points.

Uh, you know, that, that sort of stuff, and then also it will mostly do you and, uh, cup noodle getting the points as, as defense. And hopefully I was, I was surprised with how quick my new player kind of started getting points. Yeah. Because the first season was pretty like, you know, I didn't really do much, but I was super low in like TPE and stuff at the time, so I was like, Yeah, it's, it's whatever.

And the second season happened. I was like, Okay, I like where this is going. And the third season was better. Like really? Okay. . Then my expectations were kind of like, Well, I've more TP now. He should be better. And then last season wasn't so good. It was decent. Yeah, it was decent. But you know, the trend was not in my favor.

Um, but it's alright.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to, uh, seeing how this team does and kind of progresses as, I guess the rebuild exits. Yeah. So yeah, so last year was like, we were the best of the shitty teams. So now we're hopefully to be in one of the, the middle playoffs team playoff teams, you know, especially since we, uh, we added you who's like 1250 early, who's about to be 1600, uh, Burlock, who's about 1300.

Uh, you know, all of our young players are progressing, so, so we should be better. And then Jeff's the coach, you know, he discovered some things, some, some tactics that, that were, that were pretty good last year. Nice. Like that? Yeah, Definitely sounds promising.

Yeah.

Uh, yeah, hopefully, hopefully we do good hope. The goal is to have like 34 wins, 35 wins, you know, at a, Cause we, we got 30 last season, so as long as you get above hockey 500, I'll be happy. Uh, get more goals than, than, than, uh, goals away.

Yeah, that'd be nice. Um, yeah, I don't really like, if I'm, to be honest, I don't really have. Expectations for this season. I just kind of want to see what happens. Yeah. This season I think is, is definitely, it should be a season where, uh, the Sims should be looking better for us. I mean, shit during the first, you see first two or first three seasons of a rebuild of the rebuild.

It was just like, oh, regular season pot's time to not worry about points or not worry about the sim. At all. So it's like, because it was just all losses. So, you know, you know, you don't wanna, you don't wanna be like, Oh, uh, eight five law or H two laws, here's another loss. That's so fact, you know, for a locker room.

So it's like, damn Right. So now hopefully, you know, as we start to win more, uh, we get more chatter, you know, just about games and, and shit like that. Mm-hmm. because uh, that's something that, that was kind of missing. It's also, cuz you know, we were being, we were shit. Yeah, no, I, Yeah, it makes sense. Yeah. And then, you know, I like how, you know, brought in, you know, good people cuz that's, that's kind out is you need good people to drive, to drive a locker room.

I feel like, you know, especially bringing you in already and Levy, you know, kind of helped a lot, you know, And then having people already here, uh, it, it should be a good season. And I think with that it's at an hour. Um, Hammer did DM me saying, Uh, he slept in so the weekend, I'll be talking to him another episode.

So I'm just probably gonna upload this on YouTube, uh, and then say, Give all the money to the Rice Bowl because I'm gonna be recording another podcast with Rich on Sunday. . Oh geez. It's a lot of podcasting. Hey man, if I could get my players some, some extra money, I'm good with that. I'm good for talking for an hour about shl.

I'm always done, especially when it comes to your. Uh, cause we filled an hour worth than three players. Yeah, there's, there's definitely a lot of stuff to go through. . I don't think we'll have a shortage of stuff to talk about. Yeah. Okay. Now how do I get Craig bought to, to leave? Stop. Okay. Cool. All right.

Anything else you wanna say? Uh, Not really. I mean, I guess like, just to wrap it up on my end, um, this was fun, uh, podcasting. It's, I think this is probably the fifth podcast I've been on. . Yeah. Um, like my, my solo cast, which may or may not ever see the light of day again. , it's probably my first one. Uh, yeah, Podcasting's always fun.

And uh, hopefully people enjoy. Going through, uh, my player history, but also kind of shl history at that point to forever. Yeah, we kinda, we kind of touched on a lot, but yeah, hopefully something like once a week or once every two weeks, you know, some people all New England can just jump in a pod for like 30 minutes.

Shoot, shoot the shit, talk about the simmer or whatever. Especially if it's like Hammer cuz he usually does the podcast or like Artie or, or whoever. Yeah, it'd be cool. Um, get some extra money. Talk about the sim. Yeah, it'd be nice to, uh, see this thing going somewhat regularly. Yeah, that was fun. Right. All right, cool.

I'm gonna stop it now, so goodbye.
