Sir Devoir in: Platoon Fight Club

It was postgame at the Baltimore Platoon arena, and Sir Devoir is preparing to head home. It was another painful loss for the Platoon, and Sir Devoir wanted nothing more then to just head home and relax. However as he was on his way out of the arena, he noticed a door that is just slightly ajar leading to some kind of basement. Devoir at first thought that he would not be allowed to be in that area, but then remembered that he was actually an employee of the team and it didn't matter where he went as he had the excuse of just being curious. He puts away all of his equipment beyond a hockey stick he could potentially use as a way to hit an intruder, and headed down the stairs towards the basement.
"If anyone who left this door open is an employee of the team, just let me know who you are and there will not be any issues." Sir Devoir says as he walks down the stairs "if you're a trespasser, just surrender now and I may let you off easy" however, Sir Devoir certainly did not expect to see a boxing ring surrounded by punching bags in the basement. The punching bags has certainly been well used, with some of them having pictures of various opposing players taped onto them. As Devoir looks at one of the punching bags, he feels a tap on his shoulder and come very close to hitting M'Baku Olubori on the head with the stick before he stopped himself. "M'Baku!" Devoir says as he puts the stick down "don't do that, you scared the crap out of me!" "Sorry Devoir, I just did not expect to see you down here and did not know how to get your attention. I should have just called your name out, I apologize." "It's alright" Devoir says as he fully recovers "but anyways, what is this area? I've been here for a couple of seasons and I haven't even seen a hint of this place! How the hell did they get a boxing ring down here?" "Well I am pretty sure they got it down here by bringing it down in parts and then building it up." "Well I guess that makes sense" Devoir shrugs "And as for your second question, this is the Baltimore Platoon Fight Club. We would have told you about this place, but since you are a Psychic type we figured that you would not be interested." "Hey I am half fighting!" Sir Devoir says, a bit offended "but beyond that, why do you have a fight club down here? Don't we get enough bruises during the game?" "Devoir my friend, this is about much more then just fighting" M'Baku says as he puts his hand on Devoirs shoulder "as you might know, we aren't winning much down here in Baltimore. The fight club is a way for us all to blow off steam and frustrations and settle occasional feuds. We all wear our hockey gear while fighting-you won't be wearing your mask though, you'll be wearing a helmet so we don't hurt our hands fighting you-and it is looked over by refs. We do this safely and fairly, and we make sure not to hurt someone really badly." "Well..." Devoir thinks for a while before nodding his head "I am in for a the next meeting. Are there any rules I should know?" "There are a few: first of all, try to keep this on the down low. People don't need to know about this beyond those who need to know. Second of all, no submissions like arm bars and you can only clinch, basically just kickboxing style. Also, no hits below the belt, and when the ref says that you need to stop fighting, you stop fighting immediately." "Yeah those rules seem fair to me" Devoir smiles "when is the next meeting?" "After the next home game, your opponent will be me. I was just down here to check on the area and make sure everything is ready." M'Baku says before remembering one last thing "oh and one final rule: if it is your first day in fight club, you will have to fight. I believe that you vs me will bring the rest of the team down to watch" "Well I will be ready." The very next home game for the Baltimore Platoon was against the Atlanta Inferno, and it was another loss for the Platoon. Sir Devoir himself was rather frustrated, as he had let in 5 goals in the 5-2 loss and had let the home fans down once again. So with all of this bubbling up inside of him, he was more then ready to head downstairs once the fans had all left to get to the boxing ring. Sir Devoir and M'Baku Olubori meet in the ring, surrounded by the other Platoon players and the GMs and coaches. "Gotta say, the betting odds seem to be pretty spilt on this fight" Devoir noted "Well it is a experienced Fight Club fighter vs a fighting type Pokemonz so I am not surprised" M'Baku had Devoir on the defensive early on, as his quick flurry of punches had Devoir backing up and blocking with his blade like arms. However, Devoir was able to get some hits in once he parried a punch, and even got a kick to the stomach, though it did not do much because of the hockey pads M'Baku was wearing. They kept throwing strikes until the ref was able to tell them that they had done enough. Unfortunately for Devoir, he was declared the loser in his first fight. "Well Devoir, that was quite the fight" M'Baku says as he and Devoir shook hands "I can tell that you will be a good addition to this club." "Thanks M'Baku." Devoir smiles "this is a good way to get out the frustration of tonight. Mind if I let some more out on the punching bags?" "Of course, the next fight is not for a few minutes" After hearing that, Devoir went to hit the punching bags until be got tired of it, the anger of losing soon not being as big of a problem as it usually is. Ok WildfireMicro talking, and this media was based on an idea that the Platoon locker room had about a Platoon Fight club after I was talking about having very few media ideas and was mulling around the idea of an SHL Wrestling League media. Obviously this is inspired by the movie Fight Club, and included a reference or two to it in here. Obviously it's been a rough year for the Platoon, as we are at the bottom of the league with only 5 wins, all of those coming from when Devoir is at the net. Devoir has a 5-20-1 record (though he does have a shutout), so he would like a nice way to let off all of his frustration after tough losses. Yeah it's not the most healthy way to let off steam, but it is as healthy as it could be. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you all on the ice! ![]() ![]() |
