Hello and welcome to the fourth daily recap of the IIHF tournament! I'm your host, Val Pix, bringing you a breakdown of everything that happened on the penultimate day of pool play here in Paris. We're going to go in daily order. I'm going to be a bit less wordy about this one because a) basically every game has been streamed and b) I accidentally closed the tab halfway through writing this, so I have to write AGAIN....this recap will be more akin to the quick-simmed games, sorry about that.

Day 1 - October 17

Russia

Russia 3-1 Great Britain

Britain's defense has been strong throughout this tournament (second in goals conceded only to Canada entering today). But in a low scoring affair, their offense is silenced after an early goal, and Russia gets goals from Viktor Krunk, Valentin Kalashnikov, and Puddles O'Duck.

Latvia

Latvia 0-6 Sweden Sweden

Latvia's shouts of sarauj turn to sorrow, thanks to a shutout from Jon St. Ark and a four-goal third period; Dave Heinrich led the way with three assists for Tre Kronor.

Czechia

Czechia 7-4 Ireland Ireland

After a goalfest of a first period that sees Ireland go from 2-0 down to 3-2 up, the Czech lion roars with four consecutive second period goals. San-sam Emerson racks up four assists, and Stan Din'desque finishes with three points.

Finland

Finland 2-5 Canada Canada

A very similar story to the last time these two met - Finland cuts a 3-0 deficit to 3-2, but Canada's potent power play pushes them to a comfortable win. Luc Blouin scored twice for the Canucks.

Germany

Germany 1-4 USA Usa

Olof Korsikko is a wall through two, and the Germans even lead entering the third. The US roars awake and scores four in the third, including two points each from Rand al'Thor and Lord Raiden.

Day 2 - October 18

Norway

Norway 4-1 France France

Hank Stopper lives up to his name with a 35 save performance; Aksel Fiske, Gonzo Gobbledygook, and Cup Noodle log two points each. Miguel Hefeweizen's power play goal is the lone blemish for Stopper.

Day 3 - October 19

Latvia

Latvia 4-3 France France

A back and forth, see-saw affair is left extremely late with the Latvians prevailing. Rookie Edžus Ozolins pots the winner in the final minute of regulation time.

Czechia

Czechia 3-2 Finland Finland

Svoboda and Emerson give the Czechs a lead early in the third. Kampainen spices things up with a goal with just over eight minutes to go, and a power play gives Finland the perfect chance they can't capitalize on.

Russia

Russia 4-2 Sweden Sweden

Sweden takes the lead twice, but Sbornaya pull back both times. Salvatici strikes with the winner with 2:31 to go, his second of the game; Cue adds an empty netter to down Tre Kronor.

Canada

Canada 3-2 Japan Japan

A tale of two power plays. Japan finds nothing from seven opportunities; Canada strikes twice on their five, and Shylo Moxii wins the game in the final three minutes at even strength.

Great Britain 3-1 Norway Norway

Britain's defense and goaltending holds serve. Lev Lebedev's three points pace the offense, as Igor Petrov's goal with less than five minutes to go is mere consolation for Norway.

Day 4 - October 20

Canada

Canada 6-0 Ireland Ireland

A ruthless attack with six different Canadian goal scorers chases Irish starter Caleb Hayden from the game. Guðmundur Kristjánsson leads the attack with three points, and Anthony Dionne pitches a 26 save shutout.

Day 5 - October 21

Germany

Germany 0-4 Finland Finland

A 28 save shutout for Mat Smith and two point night from Lemo Pihl pace Leijonat to a comfortable win, backed by two power play goals.

Great Britain 1-5 Sweden Sweden

For the first time really all tournament, the British defense struggles and the offense can't keep up with the reigning champs. Three players put up two points each for the Swedes.

Usa

USA 0-6 Japan Japan

Japan's forwards break out the heavy artillery. Ryuujis Minamino and Kawashima and Evil AllBran all score twice; Kawashima puts up five points in total. BASE PACK stops all 24 for the shutout.

Russia

Russia 4-1 Norway Norway

Norway strikes first - and early - but the Russians put up four unanswered, led by two points each from Aleksander Kozlov and Long John Donair and 26 saves from Evgeni Petrov.

Day 6 - October 22

Japan

Japan 4-3 Germany Germany

(OT)

Sir Devoir's 44 saves keep the Japanese in this one; Aleksander Iskandrov's third period goal forces OT. Videl Valor cashes in in the extra frame, to go with their assist on the equalizer.

Switzerland 2-3 France France

(OT)

Both teams net shorties as Rebecca Montagne and Enes Gündoğan duel. Dirty Boots strikes in the extra frame to send the Paris crowd into raptures.

Day 7 - October 23

Usa

USA 1-4 Ireland Ireland

After being chased in his last outing, Caleb Hayden redeems himself with a dazzling 49 saves. A couple of unassisted second period goals give him the support he needs.

Finland

Finland 4-1 Czechia Czechia

The scoreboard was even in many ways; the goal count was not one of them. KEKW Kekkonen puts up 3 points, and Sconnie McHits scores twice. Harry Carpet adds 29 saves for good measure.
