Texas Renegades S69 Team Awards Hello to the SHL and adoring Texas Renegades fans! It’s time again to get to the SHL Season 69 team awards!
Yes we’re two weeks into S70, yes these are the latest awards I’ve done, but it’s better late than never after all!
Let’s jump into it and we’ll talk about goals and ambitions for this season as we keep growing as a team!
==================================================================
The Texas Renegades "Sharpshooter" Award
(most goals this season)
Your Texas Renegade "Sharpshooter" this season is:
AJ Williams! - @ajwllmsn
AJ has always been this team’s sharp shooter and he absolutely established that this season with 26 goals!
He knows where to be on the ice for a good opportunity and Texas has leaned on him hard to finish games! Congrats AJ!
Renegades The Texas Renegades "Wheel Horse" Award Renegades
(most assists this season)
Your Texas Renegades "Wheel Horse" this season is:
Chris McZehrl - @Chris-McZehrl
McZ has been absolutely incredible with his hockey IQ and it just seems to keep getting better.
This season McZ lead the team with 46 assists! He’s got amazing eyes on the ice and is ready to help his teammates score. Thanks McZ for being such an amazing team player every season. Renegades The Texas Renegades "Big Tex" Award Renegades
(most points this season)
Your Texas Renegades "Big Tex" this season is:
Chris McZehrl - @Chris-McZehrl
With all those assists and another 16 goals on top of it, McZ has established himself as the season’s top player with 62 points!
As stated above, McZ is an incredible team player and by being such a reliable guy he’s always out there making things happen and getting those points.
The Texas Renegades "Fantobens Special" Award
(most hits this season)
The Texas Renegade earning this seasons "Fantobens Special" award is:
Teylora Petrov - @Bayley
Petrov really got out there for Texas this season and wasn’t shy to throw the body around.
Petrov nailed 112 players, or some of the same players on numerous occasions, to the boards this season.
We always love to see those big hits come in and Petrov certainly delivered that this season!
The Texas Renegades "Puoli Delight" Award
(most shots blocked)
The Texas Renegade earning the "Puoli Delight" Award is:
Magnus Liljestrom - @roastpuff
Texas had been struggling with shot blocks for a little while. With some roster changes and weaker players it was difficult to get someone in the right role to block and take those shots.
This season Texas acquired Liljestrom in a trade from Toronto and he certainly stepped up for us right away and put his body on the line.
We’re incredibly thankful for your help on the blue line Magnus, and as we like to say, Magnus had 207 blocks this season and 207 bruises to show for it.
Renegades The Texas Renegades "Varmint" Award Renegades
(most penalty minutes)
The Texas Renegades "Varmint" this season is:
Bjorn Jakobsen
Dirty Boots - @CapnCooper
David Arturri-Donskoi - @LarryTheMVP
Texas either had a hard time keeping sticks out of skates or just had a lot of short fuses.
With 42 penalty minutes each, a grand total of 126, it’s no wonder the penalty kill group was fed up with them. Maybe things will turn around a bit next season? Renegades The Texas Renegades "Ranahan" Award Renegades
(top performing Goaltender)
The Texas Renegades "Ranahan" this season is:
Anthony Dionne - @Anthique
Dionne played in 51 games this season and did everything he could to keep Texas alive.
He had one really well earned shut out on the season! This is just the beginning of an amazing career for Dionne as he establishes himself as Texas’s new number one goalie!
Kavanagh(@takethehorizon) continues to mentor him as he grows and we hope he can really open the door to some strong playoff skills in the future!
=============================================================================================================
That wraps up the awards for another season! It’s hard to believe that we’re now heading to a new season and seeing how Texas continues to evolve and grow since taking over as GM at Season 66 of the league.
It certainly doesn’t feel like I’ve been in this seat that long and yet we’re fast approaching having our big draft classes called up to the team!
It’s certainly been a journey and I’m incredibly happy to share that journey with my co-gm Anthique and with everyone on the roster as well as the future that will be here soon and the Renegades of old who still bless us with their presence.
Without all of you in the locker room the drive to do this wouldn’t be here. I’m very proud of what we’ve all accomplished so far and yet this is just the beginning of what we have in store!
TEX TEX TEX
Thanks for reading! And congratulations to all our amazing Renegades!
