Hello new players!

From the Trade Deadline to the posting of the first task completable for TPE, whether that be the Interested Prospects Threads, Early Bird PT, Mock Draft, etc., DFAs will be able to complete weekly DFA Bounties. These Bounties will function practically identically to PTs, but with money instead of TPE, and will be posted in this part of the forums. By writing 250 words or completing a graphic for a certain prompt, DFAs will earn $500,000 for their bank accounts, with a cap of 4 completed bounties ($2,000,000).

It's a bit late in the season, but I am now pleased to bring you the first S75 DFA Bounty:

Written Task: Only the best of the best make it into the SMJHL. Junior players from all over the world come to this league in the hopes of being drafted, becoming a successful SMJHL player and continuing that success in the SHL. But we all have a history too. What is your history? Where did you play? How did you do? How did your career look so far, and what aspects of your player in their pre-SMJHL career is going to make your player succeed? (250 word min.)

Graphic Task: Pictures say more than a thousand words. Show us a pic of the young you, playing hockey. Include your player name and a render of your younger self, and at least one statline.

Reward: $500,000

Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S77 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S78) are eligible for this bounty.

Deadline: Sunday, May 5th @ 11:59pm PST

Takagi Michio grew up in rural Sapporo, Japan. All that surrounded his house on the outskirts of Sapporo was snow and ice. He always watched baseball players and idolized them during his childhood and when he was a kid he wanted to play baseball when he grew up, but as soon as he started middle school he was bullied for his height by members of the baseball team on the first day of school. So he looked around for another thing to do after school while his parents were working. One day he wondered around and found a frozen pond with people skating with sticks on it. Wondering what they were doing he approached them and asked them what they were doing. They explained to him what hockey was to him and how the rules worked and then gave him an old pair of skates and a stick. That was the moment he fell in love with hockey and started playing and practicing his skills. He then joined his local youth team and after not being very good at first he started becoming better and better and eventually earning the C on his jersey. He eventually decided he wanted to pursue hockey as an actual career and chose to go to a famous high school in Sapporo that was known for hockey and became a one of the best players the school ever saw. He eventually decided that hockey was a career worth pursuing. This is how his journey to the SHL started.

Ville Sato-Maki was born in Finland and is son of Ryosuke Sato (very odd for me to say this). Regardless, his mother was Finnish, thus his last name Sato-Maki. Idolizing his father, Ville started playing hockey at a young age and while he admired his dad's defensive capabilities and career, Ville wanted to carve his own path (and score more goals than his dad). And so, Ville Sato-Maki picked up the stick and decided at a young age to dominate the faceoff circle and play both ends of the ice. Working his way through the junior leagues in Finland, Sato-Maki definitely wasn't the most flashy player on the ice but he sure could hold his own defensively, being deemed a specialist in that regard. He's also not afraid to throw the body and his drive and defensive prowess really carried him to where he is now, eligible for the SMJHL draft. There's much more to his career and he looks forward to potentially outdoing his father.

Anchor: After a local band hit it big with a hit song chart in the Minnesota charts, the band has broke up and one of the brothers is looking to make it big with a different venture and a different dream... with the sport of hockey. Our sports reporter has the story.

Reporter: Jeffrey Bjelland, one half of "The Bjelland Brothers" landed on the Minnesota charts a few years back with the song "Sparkling Apple Juice", since then there hasn't been a lot of success for them in the music scene.

Bjelland: Yeah, we were playing the smallest venues in the Twin Cities, and we couldn't even sell those out. And after our most recent album didn't sell; my brother and I announced a break in the band; and I thought it was time for be to do something I enjoyed for so many years of my childhood... Hockey.

Reporter: Jeffrey Bjelland was an award-winning and successful high school and collegiate hockey player until he took a break to persue music.

Bjelland: I won the state championship 2 years in a row in high school; and my team in college made it to the frozen four 3 times throughout my college career. I don't believe the break I took to persue music slowed me down at all; I was getting calls left and right from SMJHL teams trying to sign my while I was touring with my band and I had to turn them all down until now.

Reporter: This year he finally signed his first rookie contract with an SMJHL team, and will be drafted in the upcoming draft.

Anchor: So far it's worked out for Jeffrey Bjelland, who has since signed with the Kelowna Knights and has 2 assists through his first 15 games with the team. They will be facing the Quebec City Citadelles in the first round of the SMJHL playoffs.
