The Forge locker room has the tunes cranked all the way to 11
#1

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Things are going pretty well for the Philadelphia Forge lately. The Forge are currently sitting in first place in the Simulation Hockey League with 66 points. They have 33 wins, 5 losses and 4 overtime losses.

The Forge is dominant at home with a staggering 21-0-3 record. They are the only team to remain undefeated in regulation at home. And its not like they are terrible on the road either with a record of 15-5-1.

The players have a lot to be happy about. In the locker room, the mood is jovial with their recent success. But they know not to get complacent because there's a long road ahead to win the Challenge Cup.

In an effort to calm their nerves before the game or celebrate after the game, the locker room blasts music at an obnoxiously high volume. It has become a tradition this season for players to take turns choosing a song to play in the locker room.

Many of the players are also fathers so the music choices inevitably end up leading to dad rock in one way or another. Over Father's Day weekend, they all made an intentional effort to choose dad rock tunes. Bruce Springsteen dominated the playlist that weekend.

The Forge players are also proud supporters of local Philadelphia music. On any typical home game, you can find them listening to The Menzingers, The Roots, The War on Drugs, Japanese Breakfast, or any of the many great artists that call Philly home. It's as if the Philadelphia music scene is as dominant as the SHL hockey team!

At other times, you will find Tony Soprano and Ricky Koivu listening to Drake on their own. Drake isn't too popular with the rest of the locker room but if it works for Tony, they will let him be. With 31 goals and 48 assists for a total of 79 points, Tony Soprano is having the best season of his career thus far. The general managers insist that Tony keeps doing what he's doing, even if that means they have to put up with Drake as well.

The players even make it a competition to see who chooses the best songs. They have a lowly equipment manager write down the entire playlist on the locker room's whiteboard then the players vote on the songs. It's just another way for the players to keep their competitive edge sharp.

In the rare occasion that the Forge actually lose, Leonard Wood or BASE PACK could offer up some quality emo suggestions for the playlist. But that opportunity does not come up often so the tunes typically stay pretty celebratory. For instance, after a walloping 11-2 victory over Edmonton in which Nathaniel Barca netted a hat trick, the locker room played It Was A Good Day by Ice Cube.

It was a good day indeed, especially if you're a Philadelphia Forge fan. Fans have been packing the Philadelphia arena all season to see the Forge try to forge themselves a championship season. And if those fans see Cale Salad fly into the offensive zone with an extra jump in his step, it's likely because he got pumped up by listening to Glory Days during the intermission break.

But in Philadelphia, these glory days aren't just some nostalgic reminiscing. The glory days in Philadelphia are happening now.
