You mentioned a few questions in your podcast that you sort of wanted clarification on what was going on through the head of Calgary at the draft. I tried reaching out directly on discord, but I couldn't find you. I'd be happy to talk to you about what happened on our during the draft, as much as I can share anyway.
In either case, if you do truly want to have the existence of "No This is Patrick" to spite Calgary, well to be honest I wish you luck and success! I don’t know how to reply to someone on here, I’m just on my phone at an airport, but I’ll try to tag instead @NaomiMannequeen ya I was a bit of a late joiner to the draft class discord because I didn’t find out that existed and i belonged there until like 48hrs before draft time. What probably threw you off trying to look for my name is my discord is .n0hbdy (I think) @Bfine knows me through Kelowna and “scouted” me on your behalf, which couldn’t have worked any better for your team. I’m almost repeating what I said in my podcast here so lol
i love speaking with people going into the draft as a scout for CAR and later CHI co gm but i understand your frustration and to maybe shed some light. the choice who to draft is typically in the hands of the GM more then anyone else and bfine although a scout isnt the gm and didnt have final say. when it comes to who you do pick you usually speak to several people in the range of your picks and even if you both enjoy the convo can still be hard to just pick you because maybe we really enjoyed the convo with another as well and then we are stuck in between both and its not easy as we really dont want to disappoint anyone. the decision between new and old time player will always be one of the most difficult as there can be a lot of risk in a new player but new and fresh faces keeps the league running. i will also empathize on not wanting to go to a team that did not scout you thoughts you had, it is my belief that a team should always scout a player they intend on drafting but there are factors that can come about to make it harder. whether that be they struggled to find you while looking through the draftee discord because of your name being different from the site or you joined after their scouting. in CHI case we didnt scout anyone one season because we didnt have a GM and it was a bit of a panic that scouting was last on our minds, we love baz, bamford and kimar <3. try not to hold it against the other teams to much and i hope your experience improves from here.
