Just when you thought you've heard it all, the latest craze in the music world is Hockey Pop - a genre of popular music taking inspiration from the sport of hockey! Every pop star sensation has been getting in on the trend. The first such song was Aurora (Taylor's Version), a beautiful song which reached #1 on the charts a few months ago. Others quickly followed suit, with Olivia Rodrigo releasing "Boarding Penalty", Bruno Mars releasing "Toe Drag", and Chappell Roan releasing "HOCKEY PARTY".
This new trend is clearly attributable to the surging popularity of the SHL. With the league gaining fans all around the world, others are finding inspiration in the headlines and stories that surround the league. Netflix is in talks with the SHL to develop a reality series highlighting the leagues most electric players, rumors abound that the leagues first regular season game next season will take place at the Tokyo Dome, and all the kids are playing the cool new video game Simulation SHL. Hockey mania has swept the world and these pop stars are the messangers. Will other musicians release new music all about the sport of hockey? This reporter thinks yes! It's guaranteed to be a certified hit! (203) |
