Let’s be honest the SHL is a very confusing place. Gang’s (The Jess sing along group, Seany’s followers, James’ Watchmen, and Tech support Luke), multiple world teams (Canada red, Canada Black, USA 1&2, Quebec!?!), Media, Graphics, Point Tasks, Portals, Discord, Live Site, OH MY!

But don’t worry, I have been here long enough to help these potential newbies and guide them on the safe path (far away from Jess, Seany, and McZehrl).

I would take them by the hand and point out important areas of the site, like announcements where they can and should boo every one of our head offices decisions as they take more and more fun out of the game and do not hold anyone to equal standards.

I would teach them the most important rule about the SHL, have fun, be creative, enjoy your time here, BUT DON’T BE A DICK!

The important thing is to get noticed, best way is to make fun of every team’s logo in a media piece and why they would be lucky to get a prospect like you.

How you start!

You need to go to create a player which will boot you to our easy to use portal. Honestly should have seen the chaotic crap we used to deal with in the old days. Position is important. If you want to score a lot of points and become recognized potentially getting a hall of fame career pick center (NOT WINGER). For some reason the simmer loves Centers and shits all over wingers.

On Defense you are an important player on a team but get little recognization, doesn’t matter if you are offensive or defensive, next to no one ever talks about you, but they will cry if you leave. You are impossible to replace.

If you are lazy and don’t care about the amount of work you want to put into a build pick a goalie. It is crazy but a goalies build almost doesn’t matter in this sim. We have pretty much put pylons in net and they get similar save percentages and GAAs as a true maxed out super star.

Once your player is picked you need to work on assigning attribute points or as we call it TPE. There are player break downs on how to best assign your TPE, take a look there and once it is complete you will find out none of it really matters because you will be maxed out in juniors within 3 weeks or so. (Don’t worry a full REAL LIFE year from now you will be able to assign any built up TPE to your player because juniors are really annoying in that way).

Typically a season is about 3 months long, between regular season, playoffs and then the offseason (World Tournaments, call it a filler, draft, and prep work for the new season). There is a ton of things to do during the season to make your player better.

While waiting for the draft make sure to Tweet…wait copy law infringement, Chirp for free money. Earn money with Media or graphics. Complete these early bird point tasks to get TPE (the stuff that makes you better in the league, up until a certain point stupid juniors). Complete training and activity checks to get more TPE, these are once a week events.

Media and graphics are a chance to flex your creative side. It can be about anything, so have some fun with it.

There are a ton of helpful people and than there is James… Stay away from him, nothing good ever comes from James. He tries to hurt your feelings in a “playful” way… bad James. Kahri is cool though, not James, and James is literally everywhere always watching.

As for figuring out the site, meh don’t worry about it, we really don’t use it for anything now a days, it is basically all done on the portal and discord, I suppose media, graphics and PT are held on the site, other than those things it is really a hall of records that only old people like myself care about.
