The offseason is closing in on us, and we are almost at the SMJHL Draft.

Before the real busy season starts, and you're going to be answering scouting messages from every team, it is time to sit back and relax a little. Dreaming about how your life would've looked without hockey.

Written Option: What would your player be doing now, if he or she hadn't pursued a career in hockey? (250 words min.)

Graphic Option: Show us a picture of your player, doing what they'd do if they weren't a hockey player.

Reward: $500,000, for doing one of the options.

Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S80 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S81) are eligible for this bounty.

To understand where Claude "The Dam" L'Castor would be, you need to understand his backstory growing up. His family was considered hard working, busy beavers if you will, with most of his family having working class jobs in construction. Even with his great Uncle working for Hydro Quebec. His father though, chose differently. Going into Law, Rene L'Castor was the first of his family to go to school for a degree, practicing in Montreal.

Despite his busy schedule, he always watched his son's games whenever they live-streamed, on weekends he did not work, he would take him skating or to games. Sadly, a couple of years ago, Rene would pass away after a trip to Ottawa where another driver lost control of their during a snowstorm.

So I'd really see Rene going down one of those two paths.

One scenario, he would like to honour his father by going to school too. He could be a lawyer. His grades were decent and he has the "practical skills" and "people skills" which help in law. But he could have easily went into another field, his father encouraged him to pick what made him happy. Imagine him in business? Maybe going the management side of the field his family was part of before Rene burst the dam of higher education.

Alternatively, with his family being well connected in construction, he could have went directly into it after school. The idea of creating and fixing is fun. He's always been a fan of customizing his gear and he is far from a small man at over six feet tall.

Then again: I picked Kevin Steen/Kevin Owens as his pic base.

He could easily have the urge deep down to powerbomb someone into the mat.

Where would Hetaksh be if he wasn't a hockey player. Well, this is a tough question. Hetaksh has always had hockey on his mind since the age of 6. Every single day he'd go out on the streets, set up the nets and run a game of ball hockey with his friends. He kept unto date with every Canucks game and always watched Sidney Crosby highlights. Where would Hetaksh be if he wasn't a hockey player? perhaps he'd be at his favourite place in the whole wide world, the beach located in the town of tiny, staring at the ocean and reflecting on his past life choices, wondering what he could of done differently to be a hockey player. Perhaps Hetaksh would be drinking hot chocolate while watching the snowfall with his puppy cuddled up right by him. Perhaps Hetaksh might be going on a ride hike in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps Hetaksh love for biology would make him become a professor and give biology lectures at a university in front of hundreds of kids. Perhaps Hetaksh would simply spend all his spare tine reading some of his favourite novels or perhaps Hetaksh would be binging shows after shows just like he did every summer break when he was a kid. Perhaps he'd be doing all of these things or perhaps he wouldn't be doing any of these things. Or perhaps he might be doing some of these things. But in reality, we may never know, because this is not the alternate reality where Hetaksh isn't a hockey player.
