First season is almost over, and it is time to hear Orr's thoughts about his first season and his thoughts about being a part of NBB and life in Nevada.
We have five questions for him. First question: What was the feeling when you got drafted and was it a big cultural shock move to Nevada? The feeling was amazing, it's been a dream for years and finally i was old enough to be drafted and it happened. That was the moment, when i just saw myself skating on the small pond in Finland as a kid and everything what i've done before i got drafted, was paying off. Finland is a small country, so cultural shock was real. Language, amount of people and everything was just so big here in US. People and teammates has been very helpful though, so my landing was little bit softer and i've spent a lot of time with my teammates in locker room. So grateful to be in Nevada and be a part of this great team. Second question: You are player who likes to carry and pass puck a lot. Do you think that you got a role that you wanted in Nevada? Absolutely. I had a great conversation with our GM, and he said that i can play with my own strenghts and i have got a lot of icetime, even in powerplay. So i'm very happy in here. Third question: What are your thoughts about your own season so far? What do you think about your team's season so far? I was a little bit worried, if i'm good enough to play in this league. After the first game i was sure, that i belong here. Personally my season has been up and downs, i've played very well in some games and then there is games where i was so lost. I just need to work hard to be better player everyday and prize will come. Our team season has been pretty good. We are in the middle of rebuild so i think that we have been played better than expected. We have good rookies and great older players and great goalies, so looking forward that team will be contender in the future. Fourth question: What is the most important thing, that you must improve in your own game? Well, i need to improve a lot in everything, but most important thing is to get better to play in defensive zone. I can carry and pass a puck, but i have biggest issues in own zone. That is the main thing, that i will focus in off-season Fifth question: How do you see your future? What is your main goals? Of course i want to play in SHL at some point, that is my main goal. Right now my biggest target is to get better player overall and be the best i can in NBB. This team believed in me and they drafted me, so i will give everything for this team. Bonus question: Are your parents comedian or what is that name? My parents are very funny people, for sure, but i got this name because you know, the one and only MR Bobby Orr. My dad was huge Bobby fan, so he was so smart, that he gave his name to his only son. This name is pretty rare in Finland and finnish people are crazy about hockey, so i got a lot of respect in the hoods in Finland. ![]() Registered Member ![]() Registered Member |
