Northern Conference
Seed #1: Quebec City ![]() ![]() Quebec City had yet another great season, finishing their year 44-18-4 and 1st place in the North. Their top scorer, Shiny Rainbow, is in his 3rd year and put up 46 goals and 43 assists for 89 pts on the year. Their goalie and best overall performer, Ela Solberg, was outstanding this year, posting a 29-7-1 record, 2.48 GAA, .921 sv% and 4 shutouts. Great Falls, however, had a tough season this year, finishing up with a 20-41-5 record. Their top performer was their goalie Matti Brynjarsson, who’s in his 2nd year and had a great season for a team that finished last in their conference, posting a 13-28-4 record, 4.03 GAA and a promising .904 sv%. He also had 2 shutouts. This series should be over before it starts, Quebec wins 4-0. Seed #2: Newfoundland ![]() ![]() Newfoundland finished their season with a strong 44-19-3 record which places them 2nd in the Northen Conference. Their top scorer, Hamper Linthome had 34 goals and 59 assists for 93 pts in his final season with the club. Their top D, Ivan Ivanovitch, had an MVP type season posting 20 goals and 42 assists for 62 pts and was a +62 in his final year with the Berserkers. Yukon on the other hand, find themselves in a tough spot with a 22-40-4 record. Their top player, Christina Fantobens had 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 pts in their 4th and final season in the SMJHL. This series should see the Berserkers take control early and never look back. Newfoundland win 4-1. Seed #3: Kelowna ![]() ![]() The Kelowna Knights had a great S81 regular season with a record of 45-21-0. Their top player, Mel Guolla, had a fantastic season scoring 45 goals and 50 assists for 95 pts and was +20 in his 2nd last season with the team. Anchorage, however, has had a very up and down season with various hot stretch followed up by a cold spell. Their top scorer, Reg Kirby, is in his 2nd year with the Armada and had a pretty good season, potting 18 goals and 43 assists for 61 pts on the year. Patrick Rail had a great rookie season finishing with 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points. This series will be close but seeing as I have a heavy bias towards Anchorage, I think they take the series 4-3. Seed#4: Vancouver ![]() ![]() Vancouver found themselves securing the last spot for home ice advantage during the first round of the SMJHL playoffs with a good 42-21-3 record. Their top player, River Yekaterina Volkova, had a great 2nd season with the Whalers, scoring 29 goals and 52 assists for 81 points. They had a +19 and 102 hits as well. The Walleye had a very mid year, finishing with a 32-30-4 record. Their top player, Benoit Jean-Luc Boucher, had a very impressive rookie campaign scoring 26 goals and 48 assists for 74 points. This series should be a good one to watch with two teams giving it their all. Vancouver wins this one though, 4-2. In my biased opinion, GO BOATS GO! Jonny Hockey - Goalie (#30) - Anchorage Armada

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”
