Today I sat down and interviewed Anthony Kovalchuk. He is an up and coming in this years NWJHL Draft and very good friends with Jordan Nugent-Hall. Interview was interesting and I hope you find it interesting like I did.
Here is the transcript of today's interview Hey Anthony, welcome to The Show! It's a pleasure to have you here Anthony: Thanks Jordan! I'm glad to be here! You're one of the top prospects in this year's upcoming NWJHL Season 10 Draft. Are you excited to be drafted? Anthony: I can't wait! This is definitely the most exciting moment of my career! There's usually a need for a goal scoring Sniper, so where in this years draft do you think you'll go? Anthony: Well I'm hoping first overall! Every team needs a goal scoring sniper, for the power play and getting goals in general. I believe I can be that player. What separates you from the other prospects? Anthony: I truly think that it is my level of commitment. I am completely and totally committed to being the best player I can be in this league. I promise to stay active, train as much as I can, and most importantly, help my team win. What attributes do you think you are going to work on first? Anthony: I am personally going to train my scoring. Because I feel I would be helping my team the most by scoring goals. Are there any teams that you would like to go to specifically? Have you talked to any of the GM's recently? Anthony: Well, I've talked to leafsftw of the Impact, and I have a personal friend that has came out of that organization, and have heard nothing but great things about them, but I am interested in any team and that will not change anything about my game. Last couple questions here, why did you decide to come to the NWJHL? Anthony: Well I joined another Hockey League and well..... It failed. I know that the SHL has had 9 very successful seasons and I don't think its ever going to fail. Who is your idol, in the NHL and in the SHL? Anthony: My idol in the NHL is my father Ilya. Ever since I was a young kid, I've wanted to be just like him. He has definitely been a huge help in my career so far as he has been my personal trainer, and mentor. MY idol in the SHL is up and coming star, Jordan Nugent-Hall. I know he will go far in this league and have seen how dedicated he is to achieving greatness. Have you started thinking about making it to the SHL yet? Anthony: I'd be lying if I said I hadn't, however, right now my main goal is to be the best player I can be in the NWJHL. I'm only going to move up to the SHL when I'm ready, and until then I am perfectly content in the NWJHL Last question When did you first begin playing hockey and why was that? Do you think your passion for hockey will continue or will it go downhill? Anthony: I first began playing hockey when I was two years old. My father Ilya always guided me and helped me through everything. My passion for hockey can only continue as I want to be just like my father. Thanks so much and good luck in the draft, I hope to hear your name called early Anthony: Thanks so much, that means a lot coming from you. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Conclusion: Anthony is a talented sniper who will put up goals. There have been *rumours* from the past about him having an attitude problem but under the leadership of mentor Jordan Nugent-Hall those will dissapear. Don't even need to worry about them. Expect Kovalchuk to have a good career and maybe fill his mentor's shoes. Projected Draft Position: Late Second --> Early Third Round Prospect Ranking: 15th Thanks for your time today guys and... Until next time, Stay Classy SHL - -
