if you thought negotiations were painful last time, it could be worse if the Habs aren't prepared to give him a big pay increase. Trust me, winning the Norris or any high-profile award has a major impact on the next contract. He's going to want to be paid like the league's elite.

Only way a Subban deal is "cheap" is if it doesn't buy out any of his FA years. I'm not sure how many he has to go but that is the only way I could see a discount. If you guys sign him to an 8 year deal expect to be paying market for him.
