60 minutes with Ruutu Open mic night , ask me anything.
#1

Help me and ask questions about anything you can think of. I will then send these questions and answers to Finnish version of 60 minutes. They will make a episode of me at some point in the near future.

This is the best option for me since in the past ive gotten in trouble when reporters surprise me and ask their questions.

Seeing my player do some real damage. Ive spent hours in the gym during the offseason. Didnt skip the leg day once. Trying to get those St Louis legs. Hopefully all the hard work start to pay off on the ice as well.

Had to shave my mustache off but im growing it back so the overall intimidation level is at the max around 10 games into the season. I dont really have any real goals for s22 though. Just need to keep on working hard and try to help the team as much as possible with my physical presence. Hits , hits and hopefully few goals.

Actually i got traded about 3 days ago from Minnesota to LA Tongue Spent my last seasons in Montreal Impact but i was looking forward playing in Shl and rocking that Chiefs logo but that just never happent.. Part of the sport is that you might get traded. I enjoyed being in Minnesota organization though. Everybody were super helpful and i learned a lot. Without them i more than likely would not be here. Currently im still a rookie so im just excited to see what happens in the future and in LA.

You a Tuomo Ruutu fan or just liked the name?
Im a fan of Tuomo but actually im even bigger fan of his brother Jarkko. Never a boring moment when you watched him play.Hits , penalty kill and fights. What more you can ask for? Tongue Both are physical players and like to give their all for the team. In Finland everybody love players like that. Mostly because we dont have so many skilled players so teamwork is what our national team needs in order to challenge the more skilled nations.

Shame Jarkko retired little while ago.. He had a great career.

Leo Komarov for sure. Skates hard all game long , hits everything that moves, blocks shots, and agitates opposite teams players. I think Leo can speak something like 400 different languages but i can only speak two so i need to do all the dirty talking in English or in Finnish. Leo is one of those guys who you like to have on your team but hate to play against. Hopefully i can reach that some point in my SHL career.

Are you aware that Los Angeles is about to be a dynasty?

I heard something like that. By the looks of it , LA going to have well balanced roster with talent in all areas of the game. Long term signings also sends message to rest of the league that LA is not messing around. Im expecting CCCP like domination. Pass- Pass-Pass-Goal! End of the day ..Winning is not everything.. Total humiliation of the other teams and their players should be the target.

Pick one: Mikko Eloranta, Lauri Tukonen or Esa Pirnes?

Lauri Tukonen! First round pick but never really made it in NHL. Not sure why but i know hes had quite few injuries when he came back to Finland. Theres still time but he is 28 or 29 now so NHL might be out of the question for him. When he is healthy he has played quite well in Liiga. Or at least the numbers he had put up are not that bad.

If some goon like Muller takes a run at me are you gonna back me up?
Of course. Unless he is really pounding you.. Then i might just let the refs deal with him. I dont want to hurt him, you know. What if Muller gets hurt badly? I might go Evander Kane mode and one punch knockout him. Or even worse.. what if i hurt my hands? I like to paint on my free time. Cant do that with broken hands. Also what happens to my dream of becoming a underwear model? What if my face gets ruined? Even though im wearing underwear , people still like the face to look pretty. Cant have a broken nose

Finally my endurance training comes in handy. One season ago i would not be able to run away from the groups of mustache fanatics who want to feel my ´stache all over their body. If some pretty lady offers me a drink, i make sure she drinks some of it first. They will put something in the drink that makes me pass out. Next morning i will wake up in hotel without any memories about what happened.

The older female fans are my favorite. They are not so aggressive. Some of them are excellent stick handlers. I though im pretty good with my stick but when you let 45 yo woman with 25 years of experience in the sport handle your stick.. You will be blown away.

If you could accomplish just one thing by the end of your career what would it be? (Like one milestone)
Challenge cup ring would make me really happy. That might be a hard one to achieve. Im happy to be in LA though since theres good change i might get the ring here. Maybe even more than one rings... Who knows what happens in the future though Wink. On a personal level i would like to see my name as number one in Most Hits -category after full season.

How much is LA better than anywhere else?

The future looks extremely bright. What ive seen and read.. LA is going to be a force in the league for many seasons. Roster is full of players who all got different abilities. When you get all areas and lines working together.. The results are going to be dirty.. Brutal even.

Might be time to even up the playing field and make our goalies wear smaller gear than other goalies. Bigger nets could work too. Winning everything and everybody gets boring eventually. We need to think the fans and challenge ourselves.

Quote:Originally posted by Trill@Jan 23 2015, 03:28 PM<br />What type of player are you looking to develop into?
3rd/4th line penalty kill specialist who hits everything that moves all game long. Also i try to fight here and there. Maybe few seasons down the road i find myself on the powerplay standing in front of the net and ramming rebounds in. Something like Jarkko Ruutu,Leo Komarov and Georges Laraque - hybrid

Is there an SHL player you model your game after?
Not really , at least not for now. I dont really know anybody in the SHL that well. Im starting to recognize some names but im still shy and mean looking rookie who just works hard every day.

When will you get your first taste of the SHL (if you haven't already)?
Im going to play some preseason games with the Panthers but then im more than likely going down to juniors for one more season. Which is cool since i can keep on working hard and learning more about life in SHL. First real taste i more than likely get in season 23. If everything goes like planned , i should be annoying and even dirtier player by then.
