Basically this will be a media about what I think about what is put in the Suggestion Box of the SHL.
We will start with the suggestions on the last post of both May and what we have so far in June ***Last Post on - Title and Link **May 18 2015 - Trophy and Various Attribute Change Suggestion Basically it suggests that the Experience, Morale and Leadership attributes will be changed in related to the cup and trophy wins. While this is a good suggestion just by looking at it, there are many problems with this. First of all, the Morale attribute shouldn't be changed as it is a big issue in the engines. Just some morale change will affect the play of a player and could have a team go on a huge losing streak even though they are good. This is why this attribute has been pretty much ignored since it's discovery by the SHL. So this leads to the other attributes since it is directly related to Morale. Experience and Leadership affects the team and the player's Morale. That would mean that those players are pretty much big value players. While this gives another area of value to a player, it really ruins it by giving a lot of it. Instead of having trophies and cups affect this stats, just have the number of season the player has played an attribute to Experience. This leads to a fair handout of the attribute plus it will make older players more valuable. Giving an attribute to a captain and alternates could be good but in hindsight, it'll bring a problem of favouritism and some other players that will not get that attribute. Not like that suggestion will come through because those three attributes are pretty much meaningless. They would just be there for aesthetic appeal but nothing more. Now of course it could have been changed by the new simmer and so the above suggestion could work. ***May 27, 2015 - Sim or Update First The suggestion of updating all the players before simming has been a huge issue in the SHL. Sadly, there is no way to fix it unless if all the people who have that job does it accordingly, but there are too many people to coordinate this. But how about holding off the sim? First of all, that simmer could be not available the next day. It's pretty selfish to do it. Next, everyone wants the sim. So if you hold it off, you are holding it off for many people. Holding off the sim isn't really important for 1 attribute change for a player. Boo hoo it's just 1 attribute. Overall this is a very minimal league problem and should only come up in the playoffs depending on the delay. And no, 3 TPE difference will not break the sim... ***May 27, 2015 - Forum Member Trophies This would be a useless implementation as those categories are useless in the league. "Most active" is a very subjective term. This will leave the votes in a popularity vote. If we turn it into objective; "most posts", which represents in activity, then people will find loopholes such as keep posting shit posts. This is only a good idea in an article, for example, spidey made some trophy articles back in the days about unsung hero, etc. and those were always good articles. He still got awarded money because it's in the SHL Media and also it was a fun read than your usual boring shoutouts article that leaves nothing to be desired and still gets paid the same as an actual spidey article ***May 27, 2015 - SHLN or WSHL With enough work, this could be a tangible idea. I have suggested something similar to this back in the day. Each team would have different newspaper and it's different forum of the SHL Media and general one would just be normally where it is. This creates history for each team and newer or older members could read back. It creates an identity. There is really nothing to talk about here as it doesn't hurt anything but helps with cheering for your team. Maybe have a rule on not allowing it on SHL Media, SHL related threads so that users will not get confused if they do  thinking they are talking about the real IHF team. I know this is NHL emotes we are talking about but it counts. Why would people even talk about NHL teams in the SHL section anyways.***May 27, 2015 - Inactive Regression The idea of inactives being regressed is absurd because if those members come back, they would just leave again. I get the point of newer player getting a role on the team but why don't they just improve their TPE to get a role on the team? Now that one isn't an absurd proposition since you are gonna be doing that anyway. The best fix for this if we really do have a great number of great inactives that limits the number of newer players from coming up is to expand. Though I doubt the number of great inactives is that big to warrant and expansion. ***May 31, 2015 - Twitter Reform This could be good but one fact is that third party programs usually don't work without an actual good purpose. I bet people would use an SHL mobile app to update their player for example. They'll put what they want to update and it'll update automatically on their thread. In this case, using twitter as third party would need to have users actually using it. There are many people that do not use twitter and to have to use twitter just to get the 200k is pretty bad. Though it would bring good things in the recruiting department, I wont deny that. It's just that you need a number of people in order for it to work and usually, that is an unknown variable (we have to calculate in accounts that will be inactives,etc.). All in all, it's just too much work in one suggestion for it to be implemented and the amount of work put in to it isn't really worth the result. ***Jun 2, 2015 - SHL Subreddit This is the same as the twitter suggestion. In order for there to have a good third party, there has to be a good userbase and in order to get a good userbase, there has to be a use for it that fits the general memberbase of the SHL. In this case, the subreddit will really don't do anything all that different. The content that will be put on the subreddit will be very limited since it's going to be on the SHL anyways. If you want to put threads like EDM 5 - SEA 0.5, then what now, do we comment on the game? We can just do that in the SHL thread itself. ***Jun 2, 2015 - Team Lounges Just use Chatzy.............................................................................................................. So basically in order for this to be implemented: Have to create a lounge for each team, have to create new groups for the accessibility of the loungs, have to give GMs permission to be able to edit those accessibility to the players they like, Then we are gonna have to ask a question: How often will it be used. Will the amount of time put into implementing it actually be effective. Well the answer is no. It's a good idea but one that can be accomplished without any work at all. Just go to a chatzy or invite them to your team's chatzy (for example, I can still acess the Blizzard Chatzy no problem) ***Jun 4, 2015 - One Job per person a season Absurd proposal. If the current people with jobs are good enough for that job, so be it. Now you are adding an unknown variable and that could be anything. Could be a person not gonna be doing it. Lazy SOB, etc. It's not worth the after effect of the outcome. The system we have right now is perfect so why change it? This suggestion fails to state why it has to be changed. ***Jun 4, 2015 - Standings and or box score skin Good suggestion if only someone knows how to code it for each skin available in the SHL. It's a ton of work. ***Jun 7, 2015 - Locking Suspension Threads I would rather have posts about suspension of that specific person in that thread than somewhere in the forum. Forums will have shitstorm once in a while but it's no problem if it's contained. Really I don't see a problem with shitstorm in suspension thread. If the DC knows and is 100% sure that they are suspendable and that it'll stand then they will stand up for themselves. Censoring the members just because there will be a shit storm is bad. There has to be a place where they can discuss it, shitstormy or not. That's what the forum is for ***Jun 9, 2015 - Gym Membership Purpose: streamline the process as it gets very tedious and you quickly lose the ambition when you get bogged down messaging people over errors. Suggestion: Gym membership, allowing members to buy their training at the start of the season if they have the funds, a new thread in the bank to keep track of it (bankers update this withdrawal immediately to ensure the person can afford it.) Their name gets put on the gym membership list for +5 or +3 training for the entire season, they link said list when doing their training that season. Perhaps some discounts? + 5 Training x 8 = $8,000,000 (Gym Membership - $7,000,000) + 3 Training x 8 = $ 4,000,000 (Gym members- $3,500,000) Problems: ~It'll take away activity. You can do this and not come for t he next 3 weeks no problem. The point of weekly training is that you show your activity. This is a very big problem. Activity will die down ~There will be problems if you wanna change it because you earned enough money and want to have a +5 that specific week. All of a sudden you are stuck with +3. ~The recording of the memberships could be very tedious but it is achievable. All in all it's decent and an achievable idea that could help the bankers but rewards people with high cash. The only change is that there is no discounts. 1767 words
