Hey folks, it’s me again. I’m still broke, still excited about being in the playoffs, so let’s dive in to game two! As before, I will show bias toward my teammates and my own player.
Game Two: STL @ VAN (again) Bottom line up front, St. Louis walked away with a 4-3 win. Despite a close score, the Scarecrows looked a lot better in this one. I will point out that penalties clearly went against Vancouver for the second game in a row, with St Louis getting called for one penalty compared to 5 for Vancouver. So much for home advantage. The big surprise in game one was Vancouver taking a lot more shots, but St Louis having a much better success rate. This game, St Louis outshot Vancouver 36-20. With that kind of difference, one might have expected a bigger difference in score, but Julian O’Sullivan was a lot more reliable, outperforming Schmidt .889 to .850. As with the last game, the Scarecrows were much better at forcing lost pucks, knocking one away 17 times to the Whalers’ 12. Heroes of the Game: Svatoslov Bodnar, who dished out an intimidating 7 hits in Game Two, but forced a lost puck on every single one of them. He may not have been credited with any assists, but he definitely contributed to some scoring. Anuj Radia, with 1 goal and 2 assists. Kevin Hamilton (yay me), with 2 assists and two forced puck losses. Horrors of the Game: Bar Downski. He’s a former teammate, so this one hurts a little, but losing two pucks in a game without showing anything to make up for it definitely hurt Vancouver’s chances. |
