Getting to know Nate Forsberg

Nate Forsberg was born in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg to a Swedish father and an American mother. As a young kid he always had everything he wanted as his family was quite wealthy since his mother was an heir to the Hershey family. Because of this Nate Forsberg never had to worry about money or the cost of things as a child and was quite spoiled. In his early elementary school years he tried a lot of different sports, from fütball to basketball and even lacrosse nothing quite gave Nate the feeling he wanted, until he tried hockey. It was almost a perfect combination of the three sports except with a lot more legal contact. Seeing as he was a bit bigger than the rest of the kids it gave him a slight edge as he could bully his way through just about anything. When he got into high school he began to take his game up another notch and his family bought him the best training money could buy, and then in his Junior year he really became a scoring specialist and could even hit the corners from the blue line. This allowed Forsberg to became a national sensation and quickly he was declared the best hockey player in the small but wealthy city-state. Just before his commencement ceremony he stated his clear intent to go to the SMJHL to have a chance at the big leagues in the SHL. This came as a surprise to nobody that he knew or that knew him.
Before the draft Nate came in as a bit of an unknown. He didn't have the same clout as some of the big names that had ties to historic players, and he didn't state his intention to be apart of the draft until a week before. Some thought this would make him fall into the later rounds and even he had himself convinced that he wasn't worth more than maybe a 5th round pick, that was until the Colorado Raptors called his name 19th overall in the 3rd round. It was a shocking move and it certainly caught him off-guard, but it made him feel better that the Colorado GM had faith in him. It might've helped a bit that Forsberg had relations with some of the Raptors' (formerly Mammoths) alumnus which might have vouched for him a bit to the GMs. Now a part of the Raptors system Forsberg has been approached with an opportunity to play some Centre for the team as in the draft they had taken many wingers but hardly any centres. He sees this as a challenge and has accepted it for the time being, but hopes it does not cut into his long term goal of being a goals leader for the SMJHL. With such a young team he doesn't expect too much success in his first season, but come his second season he is ready to see them roar! (haha get it? Raptors pun!) Nate hopes to see the Four Star cup come to Colorado even though he himself is a five star man. However, Nate Forsberg might be able to take home some early hardware in the World Junior Cup. Forsberg does not yet know where he will play for this tournament; whether it be Team World for his home country of Luxembourg, Team Scandinavia in representation of his father, or Team United States in representation of his mother. It will be a big decision for him and it is one he will not take lightly as he wants to take home the gold for himself and his family. This also leads into the conversation of where he will play come time for the IIHL. It will be a tough decision for him for all of the reasons that choosing a WJC team will be, except this decision will be very much more permanent. Some rosters he will be able to impact immediately, but might never have a chance at winning hardware, while other rosters he is many years away from making. One might even say this is why his parents decided to raise him in such an obscure country, so that he could make this choice later in his life when he was ready rather than it being bestowed upon him at birth. All that Nate could tell you right now is that he's excited to be here and that he is ready to prove himself to the SHL GMs that will be drafting him next offseason. He hopes that the marks he leaves on the Colorado Raptors are memorable, and that they are not soon forgotten. He hopes that his willingness to fill team needs no matter the cost, his selfless nature, gets noticed and that he can make his dream of scoring the most goals in a single season a reality.
