The IIHF Host Speculation Post
#1
(This post was last modified: 07-10-2018, 06:26 AM by DeletedAtUserRequest.)

The addition of a host nation for the IIHF tournament has been a monumental success as fans across the site got to witness the wondrous that Austria offers as a landing spot for the engaged young player! From exciting games at the Lord-Vader dome to the warm and friendly demeanour of their roster... fans really took this IIHF nation in. From the day that Austria won their bid to host the tournament inquiries about their team have risen over 25%!

The success of S41 in Austria has not gone unnoticed. talks within the IIHF discord began the moment the tourney ended on where to go with the hosting process. and they weren't exactly easy discussions.. Some talked about bypassing the bidding process and awarding it directly to the teams with presence and appeal...this sparked a heated discussion!... ultimately the commissioner intervened and debunked that idea. There were teams which quickly through their names into the bidding process and what they had to offer before the process had begun.. which was a bit of a grey area within the bidding procedure and which some looked at as a way to intimidate other nations from placing a bid!

Now im going to be honest, while they love the reports, some in the federation hierarchy do not like my openness to talk about the internals of the IIHF. I was asked not to discuss the above in fear of bad press.  I disagreed.. there are arguments because teams want to win and there taking it serious.. and that's not something we should hide from. We settled on the fact that i wouldn't add 'names' and 'teams' to the above. It's not exactly what they wanted but it is what it is..

From within those discussions a path was drawn and the bidding process has begun! The current duties for hosting include how games will be viewed by the fans, all media coverage of the IIHF and the responsibility of ambassadorship of the tournament and it's 12 nations.

Through internal discussions, team sources, rumors and speculation we've put together a list of nations who could place a bid and have the resources to become the tournaments next host nation!

Russia Team Russia Russia

There have been rumors within the IIHF community that the Russians may be preparing themselves for a bid, and if they do they would have allot to offer!

Tournament location:
Russia boats a state of the art arena in Saint Petersburg which is the 4th largest city in Russia and home to 5.3 million people. With many hotels, shops and attractions.... logistically this would be an ideal landing spot for the tournament.

Hosting Strengths:
Hosting the IIHF is a massive uptake which comes with great responsibility and one which not every nation is up to carrying. But the Russians should thrive in that role as Pris and Ztevans have major positions within the SHL and extensive experience in running high profiled events.

Media is a major piece to the health of the tournament and the Russians have a transmissional weapon at their disposal.. all hail "The Podcast I Will Regret Making" hosted by Zach Evans which is one of the more recognized pods on the site and that gives the soviets a resource that most other countries don't possess! Weekly podcasts leading up to and during the tournament can center around the IIHF.. energizing the fan base in a new and dynamic way. Something which the hosting committee would have to seriously consider.

Conclusion:
Hosting Experience and their ability to capture an audience through audio gives team russia a compelling case to host this seasons tournament. Of late the soviets seem content with a soft voice within the IIHF community. But all reports indicate that Coach Pris has a competitive edge, one which may lead her to formulating a bid and taking center stage for the nation she leads.

Usa Team USA Usa

The United States and Austria were the final bidders to host the S41 IIHF tourney. but an agreement was made between the 2 nations to allow the Austrians to host. Details on that agreement are undisclosed but some speculate that with the Austrians out-of-the-way, the United States could offer significantly less and still win the hosting gig.

Tournament location:
There are a plethora of places within the US which would make a great landing spot for the tournament but were speculating that a winning bid by the Americans would center around the KeyBank arena in Buffalo NY. The home of the Buffalo Stampede and the birth place of USA GM JKortesi.

Hosting Strengths:
The sheer number of members whose birthplace reside within united states makes team USA a major player within the bidding process. Hype posts, discussion topics and 'USA hosting' team signatures coming from 135 members of the site is a marketing dream and one which the hosting committee couldnt ignore.

Conclusion:
circumstances since last seasons agreement may have changed due to the turmoil within the locker room and their inability to medal in S41. the US does not need the spotlight of a host nation to attract players and accumulate resources... but new teams are emerging as viable landing spots for young talent and this could be a wise tactful decision to halt that momentum with all eyes back on the United States.

Czechoslovakia Team Czechoslovakia Czechoslovakia

Tournament location:
The '02' is a multi-purpose arena in Prague and the home of team Czechoslovakia.

Hosting Strengths:
If this was a couple of seasons ago the czechs would be an after thought in the bidding process. But coach Blast and caltroit have seized the spotlight with their aggressive methodology and their creative ways to draw attention to their nation. That same strategy as hosts could move the IIHF to another level.

While there a small roster and a young team the Czechs boast one of the more passionate rosters in the IIHF. a full roster grid unified in the hosting assignment presents opportunities in all fascists of the hosting experience and would be viewed as a major asset for the tourney.

Conclusion:
Our sources believe that a bid from the Czechoslovakians is possible. whether their bid can top those nations with more resources is unclear.. but caltroit and Blast seem hell-bent in ruling the IIHF and capturing the hosting gig for the S42 tourney seams on par with that plan.

Germany Team Germany Germany

The Germans have been tight-lipped in their intentions but we wouldn't mistake their silence as weakness.. as Germany could offer the IIHF some enticing intangibles as host of the S42 tournament.

Tournament location:
While the obvious landing spot is Berlin, many believe it is Munich that could host the IIHF tourney as they boast a newly renovated multi-sport complex and recreation center done up for their annual Oktoberfest celebration.

Hosting Strengths:
A German bid would start and stop with their elite level media capabilities. The Germans boast some of the best pure writers on the site in LKS and Nikolaus Scholz. a tandem that could easily capture the media section with IIHF intrigue! a set of articles included in their bid would be a significant down payment towards a winning hosting gig.

Conclusion:
Team Germany builds from within and boasts a prideful group full of players with long and successful careers. and a group that may be looking for a way into this new media driven IIHF. What better way to highlight their nations accomplishments then for coachs Shiborokov and McZherl to place Germany as the ground zero of operations in S42.

An announcement by the hosting committee will come shortly after the bidding process is over. Will any of the teams above throw there names in the mix?  or will we see some surprise entries?...

I know you're trying to be funny, but I'm going to say no and hope other people won't try to make something out of this as well.
