I believe that a good locker room and good teammates are more important than anything, though titles and awards are pretty good too. I also learned that I likely just peaked in my second season. I mean, who would have figured I'd do that? And if you say you did, you're full of shit, including myself! I learned from my past mistakes, sadly with the way players are built, Cloud was a Defensive defenseman, and they are just boring and more difficult to build. A two-way defenseman give you the best of both sides of the puck, allows for more opportunity, and generally is sought after more by teams I think. Love being a Whaler. Cloud was a Raider and I loved that locker room but the Whaler locker room and GM staff is so positive and fun to deal with, along with players and alumni. Whaler for life for sure! Manhattan is great. Again, back with the locker room, I have a wonderful time there, between general chatter, hockey talk, and the D&D games run in the discord, it's a general good time as well. I'm not sure how I got so lucky to get into such great locker rooms in my short time playing but I am happy I have! @39alaska39 IS probably an 11, he's one hella good looking dude! 12-13-2018, 07:58 PM39alaska39 Wrote: What was draft day like for you last season? I was honestly excited and a bit nervous. I could have gone anywhere, and most people expected I would go in the first round. I was disappointed when I didn't go in the first round and hoped I'd be able to prove the teams that passed over me wrong. Luckily it worked out and I had a stellar sophomore season. Give it 2 more seasons. Chances are I'll play another season down and once we're both up and in the same line, we're going to really be a dangerous combination on the ice together. I'm really excited to see how we mesh and if we can make a big impact for the Rage. @luketd is just a nice guy, and he works hard to do the best for his team. He is an excellent player, person and Gm, and I think anyone would want to play for a guy like that, who puts in so much effort behind the scenes to put the best team on the ice every night. Holy crap it was exciting, but also surprising as hell. I never would have saw that coming, but it's incredible that it did. I'll likely never have another season like that, but I'm going to do everything in my power to try to. But looking at it, I had 3 nights with 3 assists and that amazing 5 assist night, that right there sets the standard towards the assist record, and such amazing offensive talent to pass to makes it a whole hell of a lot easier! PS: Love you too! 12-13-2018, 11:30 PMSlashACM Wrote: What is your favorite thing about playing on the whalers?. The camaraderie on the Whalers is pretty strong. Throughout my two seasons with the team, if a player is having a bad time or having trouble with his or her build, everyone is willing to step up with advice and support. The locker room also has a good sense of humor and we can have a good time even in defeat. Having that type of mindset and activity is paramount to enjoying yourself and to new player retention. Anything that helps my American team win I'm willing, even if Im playing minimum ice time. I enjoy the opportunity to play with players from other teams together so that we can represent our country to the fullest of our ability. It's a completely different feel and game on the ice, but the honor and privilege to represent my country on a grand stage like that is just incredible. Knowing we can come into a world stage like that and being confident and comfortable with my teammates makes me know we can win this year easily. 12-15-2018, 10:16 PMStamkosFan Wrote: Are you looking forward to playing in the SHL? Yes I am greatly. Unfortunately life kicked my ass with my creation and career with Cloud McCarthy. Luckily I have my ducks more or less in a row this time around and I'm able to progress to the next level, the SHL, a place I've not yet had the privilege to perform. Obviously the skill jump will be large and I don't expect to break-put right away, but I know I can play a solid game on whatever line with whatever minutes I'm given to help my team. Hopefully be regarded as a good two-way player throughout the league as well as having a good reputation with others. I know I'll never be the best player, though I may strive to be, but it doesn't stop me from trying my best to build and progress and show the skills that I do have off. I think a solid skating ability along with some endurance is key. You can't be a help offensively if you aren't fast enough, you can't check players if they skate away, you can't block shots if you're too slow to get in front of them. As for endurance, I think maximum minutes does affect stats slightly, though I'll admit that my depth of knowledge on how the simulations work is next to nothing. 12-17-2018, 10:55 AMGeckoeyGecko Wrote: how r u doing? I'm well thank you. Just sitting at work surfing and updating this. It's a slow day, some snow and slush on the ground so not a lot of work to be done. I'm not entirely sure, I mean, Dad put you in a timeout for a reason. It's like a penalty box with no official timer. You just need to lower your fighting and raise your discipline and he might consider it. Well, obviously I'd love a repeat of my past performance, but realistically I went to focus more on the defensive side. I need to block more shots and stand-up stronger against top lines than I have so far. Offensively I just need to keep the pace going into this season and keep focused, learn and mesh with my new teammates and new lines, and generally just enjoy my time in Vancouver before it ends, which isn't far off. Incredibly excited yes. I've enjoyed my time in the Rage locker room so far and am seriously excited to be a part of a rebuilding and growing organization like that. I've never had the opportunity to jump up to the main league before and I know my time will be soon, and that my player is building well in the hopes of proving that I deserve the time when I do arrive in the SHL. As for the mindset in the jump, slightly nervous as I know the skill gap is larger but I know I can bridge it with time and patience. (1425 words)
