Toronto - 11:47 a.m.
The Toronto North Stars have dipped into the free agent market, signing Kevin Paille to a one-year deal worth $500k, the league minimum. The 6-4 defenseman enters his seventh season in the league, bringing another ring to the team after winning a championship with West Kendall, and appearing in the finals just last season with the Chiefs. "He's a great guy to have in the locker-room, good, solid, stay-at-home defenseman who gives you exactly what you expect. Doesn't turn the puck over, always plays the body, never shies away from physical play, and he loves to go down and block shots," said Stars' GM JJ Krever shortly after the announcement. Paille is expected to fill in for the departed Kachur.
