(What do you do when you've burned through your one good media idea? DO IT AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER!
So yeah, for newbies reading this, last season I did a rookie-only allstar game on an edited NHL 94 ROM, and this season I'll do it again, but this time I'll just make it open to everyone in juniors. I'll post more updates about this project later on, so keep an eye out. This is not an official thing on the site, this is just my personal project that I'll be continually milking for media bucks.
I believe the word count is 1038.)

After the success of the SHL Draftee Showcase last season, the next step is up north.
Cory and Trevor Ltd., in collaboration with the Save The Enforcers Charity Foundation and various arena personnel, announced at a press conference in Toronto today that a special SMJHL All-Star Series would be held in the Air Canada Centre, home of the SHL's Toronto North Stars. The series is set to take place in the offseason, shortly after the conclusion of the Four Star Cup Finals. The all-star faceoff will draw the statisical leaders and fan favourites from the 10 junior squads into two teams fighting it out in a Best-of-3 format, with all revenue from ticket sales, concessions, and 50/50 draws set to be donated to charity.
Much like the exciting and well-received SHL Draftee Showcase the previous season, the format will feature Team North America taking on Team World once again. Legendary coaches Dan Curry and Anatoli Terrorov are set to return as coaches, and both are said to be taking this very seriously.
"I admit that I screwed up a bit during the Draftee Showcase." said an emotional Dan Curry during the press conference. "I let the game of hockey down. We invented this game, but we let some things get away from us over the years. Those World guys may have some divers and cheap shot artists among them, but some of em' can skate. Some of em' can play, and I underestimated that. I won't make the same mistake two times, and I'm gonna pick the best team to lay a beatin' on Team World two times. Me and the selecting committee will pick a great team, take this series, and give Canadian hockey the glory it deserves."
The selection rules were explained, with Curry, Terrorov, and ACC staff said to be heavily involved in the rulemaking process.......
-Both teams will carry a 17 man roster into the games (9 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders each) -6 forwards, 4 defensemen, and 1 goaltender for each team are to be picked by a selection committee, judged via performance through the ongoing season. However....... -From the 22 players selected by the committee across North America and World, all 10 SMJHL teams will get at least one representative selected in by the committee. -From the 22 players selected by the committee, a minimum of 2 first-year players will be selected, one for each team. More than 2 could potentially be selected depending on season performance. -At the insistence of ACC staff, at least one of the 5 prospects of the Toronto North Stars (Valeri Tikhonov, Troy Reynolds, Mike McKorsy, Donny McMasters, and Roger Baston) will be selected. The list will be adjusted depending on any future deals Toronto makes involving prospects. -3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goaltender for each team will be selected via online fan vote to take place towards the end of the playoffs.
The Toronto North Stars rule was widely mocked on social media upon its revealing, with fans taking to Twitter to accuse the organizers of pro-Toronto bias. However, it has to be said that controversial North Stars prospect Troy Reynolds would be a sure-fire selection or merit so far, as his 7 goals and 7 assists place him among the league leaders in points after the first 13 games. Lethbridge forward Roger Baston is also having a decent season with 8 points, and Halifax goaltender Mike McKorsy would warrant serious consideration if his team continues their hot start.
Anatoli Terrorov was curiously absent from the press conference, but an assistant working for Team World confirmed that Terrorov would indeed be coaching and was eager to work with the games future stars.Terrorov and Curry are said to be watching a lot of tape at the moment, checking out who amongst the SMJHL stars is doing well and how they'd fit into the team vision. Curry in particular was said to be wildly impressed with the play of Borromini Cannellini and Troy Reynolds, and was looking forward to working with them again.
"I tell ya what, that Boromi Canoli kid is a real player! He handles the puck good, skates well, has a hell of a wrister, and he gets back on defense and does what hes told. I have no idea how he fell so far down in the draft, Hamilton shoulda taken him, they had three chances at it, Minnesota shoulda taken him, New Orleans coulda made him the face of the franchise down there, and he fell to LA at number 10 to become a star down there. Hes a hell of a player and he better be on my team this year!" said an enthused Dan Curry.
"Troy Reynolds too is another one I'm looking at, if he can avoid being hammered by the stupid idiots down in Halifax, writin' all those lies, hes a good ol' Ontario boy deep down and he can play. Hell of a passer, he backchecks, he follows the play well, and you can count on him ta drop the gloves and hammer anyone who wants to mess with the team!"
As for Team World, a likely returnee (if early season form holds out) is said to be Hamilton's 1st overall draft pick Nikolai Evans. The Militia defenseman has been vital to his junior team early on with 3 goals, 11 assists, 15 blocked shot, and a plus-minus of 7. Knute Knurtsson may also warrant consideration, as the Colorado Raptors center and San Francisco Pride prospect has 13 points in 13 games and is a bright spot on a struggling Raptors squad. Goaltender Peter Larson could also be considered for a Team World return.
Overall, the All-Star Series seems capable of producing on the ice, and also producing heavily off of it, as current projections and hopes of charity revenue from the series reaches well into seven figures. With a lot of money being raised for a good cause, and a lot of eyes being put on the future stars of the SHL, the off-season will certainly not be short on good times all-around this year............
