In our last installation, one of our top Taterlytics analysts @thiefofcheese noted that Eric Pelletier had a hit per game, so we shouldn't expect him to hold onto the Hot Potato for very long.  Since Pelletier was given the Potato with less than two minutes left in his previous game, it was no surprise to anyone that he took the Potato home with him.  But I do not think anyone could predict what would happen next: Eric Pelletier kept the Hot Potato trophy for the entire next game!  The Chiefs took on the Pride again, and tensions were running high in the first period that saw a handful of penalties, most noteworthy an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Minnesota's Geoff Moore.  Early on it looked like the Potato may get passed on due to the physical nature of the game.  

Despite playing nearly 14 minutes this game, Pelletier was unable (or perhaps unwilling?) to dish the Potato off to a member of the San Francisco Pride.  Pelletier did register an assist in the third period, which was part of a failed comeback attempt by the Chiefs, so perhaps he is getting familiar with the Potato and wishes to harness its power for his own bidding instead of passing it along to someone else.  It should be interesting to see whether the Potato's hold on Pelletier is too strong or if his willingness to hit the opposition returns.  He is currently below a hit a game in the index, so perhaps the Potato is too strong.  My money is on a surprise run of a few games of Pelletier with the Potato before he sends it on his way.  With only 10 points on the season so far, his Potato-aided assist is probably fresh in his mind and he will shy away from giving up the Potato.  Or he will hit someone asap next game and make me look like a fool!
