Talk about Potato zen, Ryan Shepard had a game to remember while holding onto the magical spud all game against the Anchorage Armada.  Mr. Shepard was so inspired by the Hot Potato that his performance earned him the second star of the game.  En route to a 5-3 win, Shepard was stingy with the Potato but very giving with the puck.  Shepard managed to pick up an assist on 4 of the 5 Kelowna goals, chipping in a point each period to bring his assist total to 30 on the season.  The superstar forward managed to kill it in the face off circle too, winning 12 of 21 draws across his 20 minutes of play.  The Knights have to be pleased with how inspired Shepard is playing with the Potato by his side.

Folks, Shepard and the Potato are really rolling for the Knights right now, as they stormed into Lethbridge and escaped with a 5-3 win over the Lions.  Shepard spent much of his time on the bench in the first period whispering to the Potato.  We aren't sure what the two were discussing, but it must have been some sort of master plan as Shepard and the Knights came out roaring in the second period.  The Knights would score all five of their goals in this period, with Shepard producing a goal and an assist himself.  Not only that, but he was instrumental on both the Kelowna power play and penalty kill this game, showing off his on ice leadership that is buoyed by the Potato.  There have been rumors that the coaches want to ride this hot streak and have informed Shepard that he is to not throw hits.  Keep the Potato!

The second half of the home and home series with the Lions did not quite go as well as the first half.  It seems like as Shepard and the Potato go, so do the Knights, as Shepard did not register any points in this heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss.  The Knights' top line center did not seem too fazed by his game though, pointing reporters to the point earned with the overtime loss.  Shepard also put in over four minutes of penalty killing time, so he was still inspired by the Potato to help his team where he could.  It seems like the coaches recognize this as well as I do not believe they have lifted their hitting ban from Shepard yet.  So look for Shepard to get cozy with the Potato unless something changes.
