So, I’ll preface by saying we all know there are great players out there that don’t get the recognition they deserve. This isn’t a competition in my eyes, but true praise from me to the players I’m about to talk about. We all have those players. They may never lead the league in points, they likely won’t get a nomination for an award, but you know deep down they are the backbone of the team, even if the sim doesn’t show it. They all deserve more than STHS gives them, and I’m here to give them that just now.

Who am I talking about?

Andrej Doskocil and David Vent are two rising superstars in the SHL who play for the Manhattan Rage. They’ve proven year after year that they are more than just an asset, they are family on the ice and off. Let me tell you a bit about these two wonderful guys.

Let me start with @Citizen of Adraa. CoA, as he is lovingly called, is a defensive defenseman from the Czech Republic. He’s a season 46 draftee and was taken 8th overall in his draft class. He currently sits at 1145 TPE and is a workhorse. He sits at 2 goals, 15 assists for 17 points, has a +9 on the stats sheet, plays on the 1st line and also puts in solid PK time for the Rage.

His effort goes well beyond just playing on the ice. He’s an amazing person in the locker room, as many of you from Halifax can attest to. His constant positive attitude is always a sight to see in the locker room, and he carries this over to his team in Halifax and his country in Czechia.

Next, let transition over to @ImShiny and his player David Vent. Vent is a Two-Way Defenseman who is built to pass and punch you in the face if you get in his way. He is also a season 46 draftee, taken at 56th overall in his class, making him an obvious steal for the Rage. He currently sits with 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points, and carries a +7 rating. He also has three fights this season, going 1-1-1 over those three and also plays on the first defensive pairing as well as the PK unit for the Manhattan squad.

Shiny is a spectacular person to have in any locker room, and if you have the privilege of knowing him you know I’m not lying. His constant upbeat attitude makes everyone feel better and he shows that he truly cares about each and every member of the team on a daily basis.

Now let’s look at these two together. Both have been staple defensemen for the Rage for a couple of seasons now and, with both of them being promoted to the role of first line, they have proven their worth. Since they assumed the first line role together, the team has gone 18-9-0. This is impressive by many standards and one that I think any team would love to have out of any two players.

Another important factor is that they have a combined 87 shot blocks in 36 games, averaging 2.4 blocks per game between them, and both sit in the 19-20 minutes per game range. Unfortunately neither see much, if any, power play unit time, but that’s not what they do. They. Shut. You. Down. Hard.

They have proven to be the thorn in the side of teams 1st lines since they have moved into the top pairing, and they have proven it over and over again, most recently contributing to back-to-back shutouts for the Rage, propelling them into a 8 game win streak. And they continue to get better, on the ice and off.

Both CoA and Shiny spend a lot of time playing Apex legends together as well, and I join them from time to time, and we have a blast. They are great people outside of the SHL as well, and on behalf of myself, and everyone else that has the great honor of calling them our friends, thank you and we love you both. Please never change. Go Rage!
